Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteSchedule the public event in YouTube Studio, then use OBS and Advanced Scene Switcher to send and automate the playlist feed. These are separate jobs: YouTube schedules the event viewers can find, while the OBS plugin schedules actions inside OBS. At broadcast time, confirm the feed in YouTube’s Live Control Room and complete YouTube’s Go live step unless you have deliberately configured and tested auto-start.
What you are scheduling—and where
YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room creates the scheduled live event and its watch page. Advanced Scene Switcher does not create that event: it automates OBS actions, including date- and time-based macros and media-related conditions and actions. OBS connects to the scheduled event using its stream URL and stream key.
That separation matters. A macro firing at the right time does not by itself guarantee that YouTube has received the correct feed or published the event. The full workflow is to schedule the event, configure the OBS connection and playlist behavior, rehearse, and then verify the live feed in YouTube.
Check compatibility and prepare the playlist
Verify OBS and plugin versions
The OBS resource listing reports Advanced Scene Switcher version 1.36.1, updated August 7, 2026, with OBS Studio 31.1.1 as the minimum version and Windows, macOS, and Linux support. Version requirements can change, so check the listing and your installed OBS version before installing or updating. The plugin’s update history says version 1.34.0 added a Macro Schedule tab for scheduling macro actions at a date and time; confirm the tab is available in your installed version. Back up existing plugin settings before changing a production setup.

Decide how the playlist should behave
Prepare the media sources and scenes in OBS that your playlist needs, then decide what should happen at the scheduled time and when each item ends. Advanced Scene Switcher offers media conditions and actions, but the right macro depends on how your sources and scenes are arranged. There is no single verified, universal macro recipe for every playlist configuration, so do not assume that adding a schedule alone will reliably advance all media.
Before putting the setup on a public event, test the intended sequence: that the right source appears, media starts and advances as expected, audio is present, and scene changes occur at the right moments. If a macro is meant to start or control media, test that particular behavior with your source setup rather than extrapolating from the plugin’s feature list.

Schedule the YouTube event
- Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. Choose Manage, then schedule a stream. You can reuse settings or create a new event.
- Set the event details and schedule. Once scheduled, the event can appear as upcoming; viewers can open its watch page and opt into reminders.
- Keep the event’s encoder details available. You will need the stream URL and stream key for OBS. Make sure you use the details for this scheduled event, not another broadcast.
Connect OBS to the scheduled event
- In YouTube’s settings for the scheduled event, copy its stream URL and stream key.
- In OBS, open Settings > Stream and configure the YouTube connection with the event’s stream details. The exact fields shown can vary with the connection method OBS presents; use the URL and key from the scheduled event.
- Protect the stream key. YouTube treats it as the credential that lets an encoder send a feed to the correct stream. Do not show it in screenshots or recordings. If it is compromised, reset it through Live Control Room and update the OBS configuration.
- Check that OBS is set up to send the scene and media you intend to broadcast. The stream connection and playlist automation are distinct: a correct key does not configure playback, and a working macro does not verify the event destination.
Build and schedule the OBS macros
- Open Advanced Scene Switcher in OBS and create macros for the actions your playlist requires. Use its date/time condition and the relevant media conditions or actions; choose the sequence based on your configured sources and desired behavior.
- Open the plugin’s Macro Schedule tab, if available, and schedule the applicable macro actions for the event date and time. Confirm the time and date carefully, including the time zone used by your computer and the intended event time.
- Save or back up the plugin configuration, then rehearse the scheduled actions. Verify that the macro triggers, the correct media plays, and any transitions and audio behave as intended.
The plugin documentation establishes date/time scheduling and media-related automation, not a turnkey playlist scheduler that works identically with every OBS source. Treat the schedule as automation of OBS actions, not a substitute for testing your particular playlist.
Rehearse, start, and confirm the broadcast
- Allow setup time. YouTube recommends setting up the encoder at least two hours before the stream and starting it at least 15 minutes before the event. These are recommendations, not mandatory exact lead times.
- Start streaming from OBS before the scheduled start. Check that OBS is sending the intended feed and that the playlist begins or is controlled as planned.
- Check the Live Control Room preview. Confirm the preview shows the correct event, video, and audio. If it does not, do not assume the scheduled macro will fix the encoder connection.
- Complete YouTube’s Go live step. YouTube’s standard encoder workflow includes checking the preview and choosing Go live. Starting the OBS stream or scheduling an OBS macro alone does not publish the event.
Can the process start unattended?
YouTube provides auto-start and auto-stop settings. They are stream configuration options, not a guarantee that every combination of scheduled event, OBS macro, and playlist will start and stop exactly as intended without intervention. Test the exact settings and workflow you plan to use. For a first broadcast, keep an operator available to check the preview and complete Go live.

Troubleshoot common failures
- The event is scheduled, but no feed appears: Confirm OBS is actually streaming, then check that its stream URL and key belong to this scheduled event. Inspect the Live Control Room preview before proceeding.
- The preview shows the wrong event or feed: Recheck the event-specific URL and key in OBS. A stream key directs the encoder feed; using details from a different event can send the feed to the wrong destination.
- The macro does not run at the expected time: Confirm that the installed plugin exposes Macro Schedule, that the macro is enabled and scheduled for the intended date and time, and that the computer’s clock and time zone match your expectation. Rehearse the trigger rather than relying on an untested schedule.
- The macro runs, but the playlist does not advance: Inspect the macro’s media conditions and actions alongside the actual OBS sources and scenes. The required configuration varies by source design; adjust and test that setup rather than assuming a generic macro controls every playlist.
- The preview is missing video or audio: Check the selected OBS scene, media source, and audio path, then verify the result in Live Control Room before going live.
- The stream key may have been exposed: Reset it in Live Control Room and replace the old key in OBS. Remove the key from any screenshots or recordings you control.
Know the archive limitation
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not treat that statement as a guarantee that a longer unattended playlist broadcast will be archived in the same way.
