TradingView saves a chart layout as a named workspace containing your symbol, interval, chart type, indicators, drawings, colors, and chart settings. To create one, open Manage layouts, choose Create new layout, name it, configure the chart, and save. Later, open Manage layouts and select that name to restore it. Use Save changes or Ctrl+S (Windows) / Cmd+S (macOS) for manual updates, or enable Autosave when you need changes and drawings to propagate across tabs and devices.
What a TradingView chart layout saves
TradingView describes a chart layout as a saved workspace on Supercharts. A saved layout can include:
- The active symbol, such as a stock, currency pair, index, or cryptocurrency.
- The selected interval, such as 5 minutes, 1 hour, or 1 day.
- The chart type.
- Indicators and their settings.
- Drawing objects, including trend lines, rays, channels, and annotations.
- Chart colors and other chart settings.
The visible time range is an important exception: it is not part of the chart-layout object described in TradingView’s Advanced Charts documentation. Loading a layout therefore restores the workspace configuration, not necessarily the exact portion of history that was visible when you last saved it.
A layout can contain from one to 16 charts. The maximum available to you depends on your TradingView subscription. In a multi-chart layout, the Layout setup controls can synchronize fields such as symbol, interval, and crosshair behavior between charts.

Create and save your first layout
1. Open the layout manager
- Open a TradingView Supercharts page.
- Click Manage layouts in the chart toolbar.
- Choose Create new layout.
2. Name the workspace
Give the layout a name that describes its purpose rather than only its symbol. Names such as Daily swing setup, US open watchlist, or Long-term weekly make the correct workspace easier to identify later. The name is what you will select when restoring the layout.
3. Configure the chart
Select the symbol and interval you want to start with, choose the chart type, add indicators, and draw the levels or annotations you need. Adjust colors and chart settings before saving if those settings should be part of this workspace.
4. Save the new layout
Use the save command in the layout manager after configuring the chart. The new named workspace is then available from Manage layouts. If you switch to another symbol before saving, check the active symbol first so you do not preserve an unintended starting state.
Save changes after editing a layout
Creating a layout saves its initial state. Later edits—such as moving a drawing, changing an indicator parameter, or switching the interval—must also be saved if you want them to survive a reload or appear on another device.
Manual saving
Open Manage layouts and choose Save changes. Keyboard shortcuts provide the same action: press Ctrl+S on Windows or Cmd+S on macOS. Manual saving gives you a deliberate checkpoint, which is useful when you are experimenting and do not want every temporary change written immediately.

Autosave
To save edits automatically, open the Manage layouts menu and turn on Autosave. Autosave is the better choice when you routinely work across several tabs or devices and want object changes to propagate without remembering a separate save command. The trade-off is that an accidental edit can be saved just as quickly as an intended one, so use manual saving when preserving a known-good checkpoint matters more than convenience.
Restore a saved layout
Load it from Manage layouts
- Click Manage layouts in the chart toolbar.
- Find the saved layout by its name.
- Select the layout to load its saved workspace.
TradingView’s charting documentation also refers to built-in Save layout and Load layout controls. If your interface displays those labels instead of the menu wording above, use Load layout and choose the same named workspace.
Verify what was restored
After loading, check the symbol, interval, chart type, indicators, drawings, and visual settings. If the candles begin at a different point in history, that does not by itself indicate a failed restore: the visible time range is not included in the Advanced Charts layout object.
How drawings are stored and synchronized
Drawings follow their symbol
Drawing objects belong to a symbol. For example, a trend line drawn on TSLA is not shown when you switch to NVDA. Return to TSLA and the TSLA drawings can reappear. This symbol-based behavior prevents one instrument’s support and resistance levels from being displayed on an unrelated chart.
Sync drawings in layout
Sync drawings in layout shares drawing objects for the same symbol among charts inside the current layout. This is useful in a multi-chart workspace where one chart shows a short interval and another shows a higher interval for the same instrument. A line created on one of those charts can be made available on the other charts in that layout when this synchronization option is enabled.

Sync drawings globally
Sync drawings globally shares drawings for the same symbol across layouts, including layouts you create later. Choose it when a symbol’s levels should be available in every workspace. It is broader than layout-only synchronization and can expose the same annotations in contexts where you did not expect them.

Decide whether the drawings are meant to be local to one workspace or shared everywhere before changing the setting, and save a known-good layout first if the annotations are important.
Keep drawings current across tabs and devices
TradingView states that objects are globally synchronized between different windows, tabs, and devices in real time only when layout Autosave is enabled. With Autosave disabled, objects synchronize only after you manually save the layout.
Recommended cross-device procedure
- Open the same named layout on each device or tab.
- Enable the drawing synchronization scope you actually need: Sync in layout for one workspace, or Sync globally for all layouts.
- Turn on Autosave if you need real-time propagation.
- If Autosave is off, manually save after every important drawing change before moving to another tab or device.
- Reload or reselect the layout on the destination device and confirm the symbol before judging whether a drawing is missing.
Working in multiple tabs
When the same layout is open in more than one tab, TradingView recommends manually saving the layout in every tab after making changes. This avoids leaving one tab with an older saved state that can overwrite or obscure a newer arrangement when you return to it.
Indicators, indicator templates, and drawings are different
Indicators do not automatically synchronize between layouts
TradingView says indicators are not synchronized between layouts and charts by default. A layout can contain its own indicator configuration, and an indicator can be applied to every chart in a particular layout, but adding or changing an indicator in one layout should not be assumed to change another layout.

Save a reusable indicator set as a template
When the same group of indicators is useful in several workspaces, save the group as an indicator template. Apply that template in the other layout instead of rebuilding each indicator manually. Templates are for indicator sets and their settings; they are not a general backup of the chart’s drawing objects.
Why applying a template can remove drawings
Drawing objects are not saved in an indicator template. TradingView notes that applying a template can remove drawing objects from indicator panels. If a panel contains annotations you need, save or synchronize those drawings separately and apply an indicator template only when you are prepared for the panel to be replaced by the template’s indicator configuration.
One chart or a multi-chart layout?

Use the smallest synchronization scope that matches your workflow. Layout-only sync reduces unintended carry-over; global sync saves time when every workspace should use the same levels.

Why a restored chart may look different
The visible time range changed
The Advanced Charts layout object does not include the visible time range. Loading a layout can therefore restore every saved setting while showing a different slice of historical data. Pan or zoom the chart to reach the period you need.

You opened a different layout
Layouts are separate named workspaces. Confirm the exact name in Manage layouts before troubleshooting indicators or drawings. A layout with a similar name may contain a different symbol, interval, or chart configuration.

The symbol is different
Drawings are symbol-specific. If the restored chart is on another instrument, switch back to the symbol on which the drawing was created. Do not treat the absence of a drawing on a different symbol as data loss.
Indicators were expected to carry over
Indicator synchronization between layouts is not enabled by default. Load the intended layout or apply the saved indicator template in the destination layout.
A template replaced panel drawings
If drawings disappeared immediately after applying an indicator template, remember that templates do not store drawing objects and can remove drawings from indicator panels. Re-enable the appropriate drawing synchronization and recreate or restore the panel annotations as needed.

- Open the intended layout: use Manage layouts and verify the saved name.
- Confirm the symbol: drawings return only on the symbol to which they belong.
- Check the interval and chart type: these are saved layout properties and help confirm that the correct workspace loaded.
- Check drawing scope: choose Sync in layout for the current workspace or Sync globally for all layouts, depending on your intent.
- Check the save state: enable Autosave, or use Save changes before switching tabs or devices.
- Check every open tab: with the same layout open in multiple tabs, manually save each tab after changes.
- Check indicator templates separately: indicators and drawings use different saving mechanisms.
- Ignore a different viewport at first: the visible time range is not part of the Advanced Charts layout object.
Mobile and “last chart viewed” settings
The mobile app includes a setting to remember the last chart viewed across devices. That behavior is separate from saving and loading a specific named layout. If you need a particular workspace—not merely the most recently opened chart—use the layout-saving controls and select the named layout on the device.

- Real-time object synchronization across tabs and devices requires layout Autosave; otherwise save manually.
