To save the printable version of an Indian railway booking webpage, open it in a desktop browser, press Ctrl+P on Windows or Linux, or Command+P on macOS, choose Save as PDF or Save to PDF, check the preview, and save. If you need your official ticket rather than an archive of the webpage, use IRCTC’s separate Electronic Reservation Slip (ERS) option instead.
Choose between a webpage PDF and your IRCTC ticket
A browser-generated PDF captures the page as it is laid out for printing. IRCTC’s ERS is a separate e-ticket document generated through IRCTC’s ticket flow; the two files serve different purposes.

The Ministry of Railways’ 17 July 2019 release says e-ticket passengers may carry an ERS printout or display the IRCTC Virtual Reservation Message (VRM) or SMS containing vital details. It does not establish that a PDF printed from the full booking webpage is itself an ERS or is required for travel. Follow current IRCTC terms and railway instructions for your journey.

- Open the relevant page. Wait for its content to finish loading. If it contains booking or account details, confirm that the intended information is visible before printing.
- Open Print. Press Ctrl+P on Windows or Linux, or Command+P on macOS. You can also use the browser menu’s Print command. The exact menu labels vary by browser and operating system.
- Choose a PDF destination. Select Save as PDF or Save to PDF in the print dialog. Chrome documents saving a page as a PDF through its print flow in Chrome Help; Firefox documents Save to PDF in its print workflow.
- Check the preview. Confirm that the sections you need appear and that text, tables, and booking details are readable. Adjust orientation, paper size, scale, or margins if the layout is cut off or too small.
- Save and verify the file. Choose a filename and location, save the PDF, then open it to check the actual result.
A website can format its print view differently from the screen, and dynamic elements may not all appear. A browser print operation does not guarantee that every section of every live IRCTC page will be included or that the page will become one continuous sheet. Preview and inspect the saved file rather than assuming the screen view was reproduced exactly.

Adjust the print layout when content is missing or hard to read
Make one change at a time and recheck the preview. If a wide table or booking details are clipped at the page edge, try landscape orientation, a smaller scale, narrower margins, or a more suitable paper size. If printed colors or page decorations matter, check whether the dialog offers background printing; headers and footers can also affect the result. Available controls depend on the browser and platform.
Firefox’s documented print options include paper size, scale, margins, color mode, headers and footers, and backgrounds. See Mozilla Support’s instructions for its print controls and notes on preview limitations. Chrome’s PDF destination is documented in Chrome Help.

Troubleshoot a PDF that looks wrong
- Some page content is absent: Wait for the page to finish loading, confirm the missing section is visible on screen, and print again. Some dynamic content may not be included in the print rendering; verify the saved file.
- A table or details are cut off: Try landscape, reduce scale, narrow margins, or change paper size, then inspect the preview after each adjustment.
- The PDF looks different from the webpage: Websites can use a separate print layout. Browser print settings may help with page layout, but they cannot guarantee that the print version will match the on-screen design.
- You need the ticket for travel, not a page archive: Return to IRCTC’s ticket or booked-ticket flow and use its ERS print or save function. Do not treat an arbitrary browser PDF of the booking page as the official ERS.
IRCTC lists Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Safari on its compatible browsers page, but the minimum-version numbers shown there are old and should not be treated as current recommendations.

Do I need a printer to save a webpage as a PDF?
No. Choose the browser’s Save as PDF or Save to PDF destination; a physical printer is not needed.

Does a PDF of the full booking page count as my ERS?
No. A browser-printed page is not automatically the IRCTC-generated Electronic Reservation Slip. Use IRCTC’s ERS function when you need that ticket document.
