To save an entire webpage as a picture on your iPhone, open it in Safari, take a screenshot, tap the preview thumbnail, choose Full Page, then use the save options and choose Save to Photos. Apple documents this as the full-page screenshot workflow for content that extends beyond the screen. See Apple’s iPhone screenshot guide.

Save a whole webpage as an image in Safari

The process has five parts: capture the visible page, switch the preview to the full-page version, inspect it, and explicitly save the image to Photos.

  1. Open the webpage in Safari. Load the page you want to preserve. If the page has not finished loading, wait before taking the screenshot so the captured page reflects the loaded content.
  2. Take a screenshot. On an iPhone with Face ID, quickly press and release the side button and volume-up button together. On an iPhone with a Home button, quickly press and release the side button and Home button together.
  3. Open the screenshot preview. Tap the thumbnail that appears after the capture. The full-page control is available from this preview, not from the normal webpage view.
  4. Select Full Page. The preview changes from the visible screen to the complete Safari webpage, including content below the lower edge of the display. Apple uses an entire Safari webpage as its example of content extending beyond the screen.
  5. Inspect and save it. Drag through the preview to check the captured length. Crop or annotate if needed. Open the save options and choose Save to Photos for an image. The result is then available in the Photos app.

Apple says screenshots with thumbnails save automatically to Photos. Even so, choose the full-page view and the image-saving option deliberately when the goal is one picture of the whole webpage rather than the initially visible screen.

Use the correct screenshot buttons

iPhone design Screenshot shortcut
Face ID Side button + Volume Up, pressed and quickly released together
Home button Side button + Home button, pressed and quickly released together

Review the captured length before saving

The full-page preview lets you drag through the capture. Use that inspection step to confirm that the page continues as expected and that the bottom of the article or document is included. You can crop or annotate from the preview before saving.

#1 Best Overall
Apple iPhone 14, 128GB, Midnight - Unlocked (Renewed)
  • This phone is unlocked and compatible with any carrier of choice on GSM and CDMA networks (e.g. AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, US Cellular, Cricket, Metro, Tracfone, Mint Mobile, etc.).
  • Please check with your carrier to verify compatibility.
  • The device does not come with headphones or a SIM card. It does include a generic (Mfi certified) charging cable.
  • Tested for battery health and guaranteed to have a minimum battery capacity of 80%.

Choose image or PDF

The full-page preview exposes two different outcomes. Select the one that matches how you will use the result.

Outcome Path Best for
Image Screenshot preview → Full Page → save options → Save to Photos A picture you can view with other photos or share as an image
PDF Screenshot preview → Full Page → Save PDF to Files A document stored in Files rather than an image in Photos

Save PDF to Files is not the image path. If you need a PDF for filing, printing, or a document workflow, choose that option instead of Save to Photos.

Safari’s separate PDF and Markup workflow

Safari also provides a webpage-to-PDF route through its sharing controls. Open the webpage, use the page’s Share controls, tap Markup, then use the Done and save controls and choose Save File To. Apple documents this in Annotate and save a webpage as a PDF in Safari on iPhone. This workflow is useful when you want to mark up a document or place the result in Files; it does not replace the Save to Photos step when you specifically need an image.

If Full Page does not appear

Apple’s full-page choice is shown after a screenshot is taken and its preview is opened. Check these points in order:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Confirm that the webpage is open in Safari, rather than relying on a screenshot taken in another app.
  • Tap the screenshot thumbnail promptly so you are editing the capture preview, then look for Full Page.
  • If you are already in the full-page preview, use the save options shown there; the image and PDF destinations are separate choices.
  • Check the labels after an iOS update. Apple’s guide is versioned and interface wording can change, so a control may move even when the workflow remains the same.

If a page is still loading, take a new screenshot after the visible content has finished loading. The full-page capture is based on the Safari page at the time of the screenshot.

Practical limits and quality checks

It captures the webpage, not a redesigned document

The result follows the page as Safari renders it. Review the preview for the exact extent you need, especially on long pages. Apple does not specify a universal pixel dimension or maximum length in the cited guide, so do not assume that every webpage will produce the same-size image.

Save the format you actually need

Photos is the destination for the image outcome. Files is the destination for the built-in PDF outcome. If someone asks for a picture, do not send the PDF simply because it contains the same page; choose Save to Photos.

Keep the original page available

A screenshot is a point-in-time copy. If the webpage changes, the saved image does not update. For material that must remain searchable, annotatable, or filed with other documents, the PDF option may be more appropriate.

Troubleshooting

Symptom Likely cause What to do
Only the visible screen was saved The screenshot was saved without switching the preview to Full Page. Take the screenshot again, tap its thumbnail, select Full Page, and then choose Save to Photos.
There is no Full Page control The screenshot preview is not open, or the capture was not made from a Safari webpage. Open the webpage in Safari, take a new screenshot with the correct button combination, and tap the thumbnail.
The result is in Files, not Photos Save PDF to Files was selected. Repeat the capture and select Save to Photos in the full-page save options.
The bottom of the page is missing The captured page did not include the expected content when the screenshot was taken. Let the webpage finish loading, take a new screenshot, and drag through the full-page preview before saving.
You cannot find the saved image The image was saved to Photos, but you are looking in Files or at the wrong part of the library. Open Photos and review the most recent items. Use Files only when you selected the PDF destination.
The controls look different iOS interface labels and placement can change between software versions. Look for the screenshot preview, the Full Page choice, and the image-versus-PDF save destinations; consult Apple’s current guide if labels differ.

Or skip the browser setup:

For repeatable captures, automated documentation, or a workflow that should not depend on an iPhone screen, ScreenshotNeo returns a webpage screenshot from one API request. Its full-page mode loads lazy images, and it can return PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF output. Before capture, it accepts cookie or consent banners like a visitor and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets; each cleanup step can be disabled.

Only clean shots are billed. Bot checks and CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing, and the response identifies the result with X-Page-Verdict and X-Billed headers. An MCP server provides take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf tools for Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients.

Final checklist

  1. Open the target page in Safari.
  2. Use the screenshot shortcut for your iPhone design.
  3. Tap the preview and choose Full Page.
  4. Inspect the captured length and make any crop or annotation.
  5. Choose Save to Photos for an image, or Save PDF to Files for a PDF.

For a one-off image, the built-in Safari workflow is the direct answer. For recurring or automated captures, ScreenshotNeo removes browser setup and reports whether each response was a clean, billable shot.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Apple specify a fixed maximum length or pixel size for a full-page screenshot?

No fixed maximum length or universal pixel dimension is stated in Apple’s cited screenshot guide. Inspect the full-page preview and verify that the required content is present before saving.

Can I annotate the capture before saving it?

Yes. Apple’s screenshot preview provides annotation and crop controls before you choose the image or PDF save destination.
