To save a webpage as a PDF without clipping it, open the browser’s print dialog, choose its PDF destination, and adjust the preview before saving. For content cut off at the right edge, try landscape orientation or a smaller scale first; then check paper size and margins. Always inspect the saved PDF, since websites can use print-specific layouts that differ from what you see on screen.
Use the print preview to prevent clipping
- Open the webpage and choose the browser’s Print command.
- Select a PDF destination, such as Save as PDF, if your browser and platform offer one.
- Review the preview from the first page to the last. Check the right edge, images, page breaks, and whether any content is missing.
- If the page is too wide, try landscape orientation or reduce the scale slightly. Use the smallest reduction that fits while keeping text readable.
- If content is still clipped, adjust paper size or margins one setting at a time, checking the preview after each change.
- Save the PDF, then open it and inspect the pages. The saved file may reveal layout issues that were not obvious in the preview.
No single setting guarantees a perfect result on every website. A site’s print styling and the selected paper, orientation, scale, and margins all affect the output.
Save a webpage as a PDF in Chrome on desktop
Open the webpage, then choose File > Print, press Ctrl+P on Windows or Linux, or press Command+P on Mac. Choose the available PDF destination and adjust the print settings in the dialog before saving. The exact destination label and available controls can vary by platform. Chrome’s PDF output also follows the webpage’s print styling, including applicable @page rules (Chrome Help: Print from Chrome — Computer; Chrome for Developers: Add content to the margins of web pages when printed using CSS).
Save a webpage as a PDF in Firefox
Open the print dialog and expand More settings. Firefox documents controls for paper size, scale, pages per sheet, margins, headers and footers, and backgrounds. Where offered, the Simplified format can remove some page clutter, but it changes the printed presentation and cannot be combined with printing backgrounds. Save a webpage as a PDF in Microsoft Edge
Open Settings and more > Print, or press Ctrl+P on Windows or Command+P on macOS. Under More settings, Edge documents Fit to printable area, Actual size, and Custom scale. For a wide page, try fitting it to the printable area or use a custom scale, then check that the text remains legible. Edge says minimum margins on many printers are around 0.25 inches (6.35 mm); that is general printer guidance, not a guarantee for every printer or PDF destination. Review the preview before saving (Microsoft Support: Print in Microsoft Edge).
Save a webpage as a PDF on iPhone or iPad
Safari
Apple documents this route in Safari: open the webpage, tap the Page Menu and Share, tap Markup, tap Done, choose Save File To, name the PDF, and save it. Menu labels or placement may differ by iOS version. See Apple Support: Annotate and save a webpage as a PDF in Safari on iPhone.

Chrome
Google’s cited Chrome help for iPhone and iPad documents printing with AirPrint, not a direct PDF-save destination. Do not assume the desktop Save as PDF workflow is available in the same form on iOS; check the controls on your device and iOS version. See Google Chrome Help: Print from Chrome — iPhone and iPad.
Why a webpage gets cut off in a PDF
A screen layout is not automatically a paper layout. When printing, the browser lays out content in page boxes and splits it across pages. CSS @page rules can set page size and margins, while browser-generated headers and footers also occupy page-margin space. The site’s print styles, chosen paper, orientation, scale, and margins can therefore change what fits. Chrome and Firefox support @page; Chrome 131 added generated content in page-margin boxes, according to Chrome for Developers’ October 30, 2024 article (Chrome for Developers).

Fix common PDF clipping problems

| The right side of a wide page is missing | Switch to landscape or reduce scale. In Edge, try Fit to printable area or Custom scale. Recheck text readability. |

Why does a PDF look different from the webpage?
Websites can apply print-specific styling, and the browser paginates content for the selected paper and settings. A page that looks correct on screen may therefore have different breaks or spacing in print.
Will landscape always prevent clipping?
No. It can help with wide layouts, but the result still depends on the page, paper size, margins, and scale. Check the preview and confirm that the text remains readable.

Does Firefox’s Simplified format preserve the original page exactly?
No. It changes the printed presentation to simplify the page, and it is not available for every page.
