Use your browser’s print preview to save the webpage as a PDF, then check whether the cookie banner appears in the preview. If it does, try a supported Reader or simplified-print view, or use the site’s own banner controls and reopen the preview. No browser setting is guaranteed to remove every banner from a PDF.
Save the page from your browser’s print preview
Print preview is the direct route to a PDF in Chrome and Firefox. The preview matters: webpages may lay out differently on paper than they do on screen, and a cookie banner may still be included.
Google Chrome on desktop
- Open the webpage and press Ctrl+P on Windows or Linux, or Command+P on Mac. You can also open Chrome’s print command from the File menu.
- Choose the PDF destination or Save as PDF in the print window.
- Inspect the preview. If the banner covers text or appears in the output, try the alternatives below before saving.
- Choose Save, select a folder and filename, and save the PDF.
Chrome also documents More > More tools > Save page as. That saves a webpage rather than directly creating a PDF, so use the print destination when you need a PDF file. Google Chrome Help: Print from Chrome.
Mozilla Firefox on desktop
- Open the page and choose Menu > Print.
- Set Destination to Save to PDF.
- Review the preview and, if offered, try the Simplified format.
- Choose Save and select where to store the PDF.
Firefox’s print settings include options such as orientation, pages, color, paper size, scale, margins, headers and footers, and backgrounds. The exact layout can differ from the webpage on screen; Mozilla’s help page was updated 2026-10-01. Mozilla Support: How to print web pages in Firefox.

On Windows, press Ctrl+P; on Mac, press Command+P, then select a PDF destination and inspect the preview. Edge also lets you select content on a page and invoke Print from the context menu. For clutter-free printing, Microsoft suggests Immersive Reader where available; on Windows, press F9 to open it. It may not be available for every website. Microsoft Support: Print in Microsoft Edge.
Safari on Mac
For supported articles, select Reader in Safari before opening print preview. To make Reader turn on automatically for articles on a particular site, use Safari’s Settings > Websites > Reader settings. Reader availability depends on the page; inspect the PDF preview rather than assuming it removed the banner. Apple’s separate save-page instructions describe Web Archive or page-source formats, not a PDF workflow. If the banner still covers the preview
- Try a reading or simplified-print view. Firefox may offer Simplified format; Safari Reader works on supported articles; Edge Immersive Reader is not available on every site. Reopen or refresh print preview after changing the view and check that the text and images you need remain.
- Use the banner’s own controls if appropriate. If the page offers controls to dismiss or manage the banner, use them, then reopen print preview. This is a troubleshooting step, not a guarantee that the banner will disappear from the PDF.
- Check the preview at the intended scale and pages. In Firefox, review scale, margins, page range, headers and footers, and backgrounds; in other browsers, review their available print options. Choose the settings that preserve the content you need.
- Consider editing before printing only if necessary. Mozilla mentions the Print Edit WE extension as an option for editing webpage content before printing. It is third-party software, so review its current availability and permissions before installing it.
Cookie banners are implemented by individual websites, and the official browser guidance does not promise that accepting, rejecting, or blocking cookies will remove a banner from print output. Saving a PDF does not require changing your cookie choice.
Avoid clearing cookies as a first workaround
Deleting cookies can sign you out of websites and remove saved preferences. It is a broad change to browser data, not a targeted PDF setting, so try preview and reading-mode options first. Troubleshooting the saved PDF
- The banner still appears: Reader or simplified formats are conditional and do not guarantee removal. Try the site’s banner controls where available, then inspect a fresh preview.
- Text or images are missing: Compare the preview with the page, check page range and scaling, and try printing without a simplified view if that view omitted needed content.
- The PDF looks different from the screen: This can happen because pages may use a print layout. Adjust print settings and review the preview before saving.
- You are signed out or preferences changed: This may follow cookie deletion. Avoid clearing all cookies just to create a PDF; use the browser’s print and reading features instead.
- Reader mode is unavailable: The page may not support it. Use ordinary print preview and the site’s own controls, or consider a suitable content-editing extension after checking its permissions.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does accepting or rejecting cookies determine whether I can save a PDF?
No. The browser print-to-PDF workflow does not require a particular cookie choice.

Does Safari’s Save Page As command create a PDF?
Apple’s cited Safari save-page guidance covers Web Archive and page source formats, not PDF. Use Safari’s print workflow when the required output is a PDF.
