To save a webpage as a PDF on a Chromebook, open it in Chrome, press Ctrl+P, choose Save as PDF as the destination, then save the file. You don’t need a physical printer or a separate PDF app. Open the Files app afterward to find and check the saved PDF.
Save a webpage as a PDF in Chrome
- Open the page. In Chrome, go to the webpage you want to archive.
- Open the print dialog. Press Ctrl+P. You can also use File > Print. This opens Chrome’s print interface; it does not require a printer. Google’s Chrome print instructions describe both routes.
- Choose the PDF destination. In the destination selector, select Save as PDF. Review the preview and any settings you need, such as pages or layout. Available controls can vary with the page and Chrome interface.
- Save the file. Select Save, choose a location, and give the PDF a recognizable filename. You can save it locally or choose Google Drive if that option is available in your print workflow. Downloads is the Chromebook’s default folder for downloads; Google explains file locations in its Chromebook file guide.
- Confirm it was saved. Open the Files app, navigate to the location you chose, and open the PDF. Chromebook Help says PDFs can be opened from Files; Gallery can also view PDFs and supports basic annotation. See Google’s PDF help.
Check the PDF before relying on it
Use the print preview to check page breaks, orientation, and whether the content you need appears. A webpage is not always a static document: interactive elements or content that loads later may not appear as expected. Google’s print instructions explain the workflow but do not guarantee that every webpage feature will be preserved. After saving, open the PDF and inspect the pages that matter to you.
Choose where to keep the archive
Saving locally is straightforward if you want a file on the Chromebook. Choose a folder you can find again, then locate it in Files. Google Drive is optional: Chrome’s print flow may offer it in some configurations, and another option is to save the PDF first and upload it to Drive afterward. The precise Drive choice shown can depend on the setup; see Chrome Help and Chromebook Help.
ChromeOS may sometimes clear downloaded files to manage local storage. If the PDF needs to remain available, verify where it was saved and consider keeping a suitable backup, such as a copy in Drive. Google’s file guide covers Chromebook storage and downloads.

PDF versus saving a webpage for offline reading
If you specifically need a shareable document or a stable page copy, use Save as PDF. If your goal is simply to read a page offline, ChromeOS also documents saving a page as an HTML file: right-click the page, choose Save as, and save it as HTML. That creates a webpage file, not a PDF, so it is not a substitute when a PDF is required. See Google’s offline Chromebook instructions.
Or skip the browser setup

Troubleshooting
“Save as PDF” is not listed
Check the destination selector in Chrome’s print dialog rather than looking for a physical printer. Google’s documented workflow is to choose a destination and select Save as PDF. If the print interface is showing another destination, open its selector and change it to the PDF option. Chrome Help

I can’t find the PDF
Open Files and check the location selected in the save dialog. If you did not choose a different folder, check Downloads, the default folder for downloads. If you selected Drive in the print flow, look in the Drive location instead. Chromebook Help
The saved PDF is missing content or looks different
Return to Chrome’s print preview and check the page range and layout. Some webpage content is dynamic or loads after the initial page view; the official instructions do not promise that every interactive or late-loading element will be included. Open the saved PDF to verify the result before treating it as a complete archive. Chrome Help
