Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteFor a normal webpage, open Chrome’s Print dialog, choose Save as PDF, check the preview, and save. You do not need an extension for that. Install one when you specifically need a full-page export, just one part of a page, or a cleaner article layout; those are examples of extra modes offered by the Chrome Web Store extension Web to PDF – Save Webpage as PDF.
Save a webpage as a PDF with Chrome’s built-in print option
Chrome’s built-in print workflow is the simplest place to start. Google’s Chrome Help page, “Print from Chrome – Computer – Google Chrome Help,” documents the Save as PDF destination. The menu wording and layout can vary by Chrome version and operating system, so use the Print command available in your copy of Chrome rather than relying on a specific shortcut.
- Open the page. Navigate to the webpage you want to keep. Let the main content finish loading before you print.
- Open Print. Use Chrome’s menu and choose Print, or use the print shortcut for your operating system.
- Choose the destination. In the print dialog, select Save as PDF.
- Inspect the preview. Check that the text and important page content fit the pages as expected. Review the available layout options and adjust them if necessary.
- Save the file. Choose the desired location and filename in the save dialog.
The preview is important: a PDF made through printing follows the page’s print layout, which may differ from what you see while browsing. A long page may be divided across multiple printed pages, and a site’s print styling can change what appears. If the result is incomplete or cluttered, try another layout option or use an extension mode designed for the kind of output you need.
When a Chrome extension is useful
An extension is worth considering when the built-in print flow does not match the job. The Chrome Web Store listing for Web to PDF – Save Webpage as PDF describes three modes: full-page export, selected-element export, and clean-article mode. It also says users can adjust paper size, orientation, margins, and layout, then preview, print, or download the result.

Those are the listing’s feature descriptions, not independent test results. The listing says the extension uses Chromium’s built-in print engine and that text, links, images, and styling depend on the page’s print layout. Treat the generated preview as the check on whether a particular page exported well.
Full-page export
Choose a full-page mode when you need content that extends beyond the ordinary print output. This is useful for a page where the visible content continues well below the initial screen, but the mode does not guarantee that every site element will be captured exactly as it appeared in the browser. Inspect the whole result, including its final pages, for missing sections, awkward splits, or content that did not finish loading.
Selected-element export
Choose a selected-element mode when only one section of a page belongs in the PDF. The extension listing describes this as exporting a selected element; the exact selection controls may depend on the extension’s current interface. Confirm that the selected area includes the context a reader will need, such as a heading, table labels, or related explanatory text.

Clean-article mode
Choose an article mode when the goal is a less cluttered reading copy rather than a faithful record of the entire page. Before saving, check that it retained the material you care about. In particular, review important images, tables, and links rather than assuming that a simplified layout preserves every feature of the original page.
Extension workflow: convert, check, then download
The following workflow follows the extension listing’s described steps. The precise controls can change, so use the current listing and extension interface for the available options.
- Open the webpage and wait for its main content to appear. Some pages load images or other content as you scroll; that can affect what an export contains.
- Open the extension by clicking its Chrome toolbar icon.
- Choose the mode that fits your goal: full page, a selected element, or clean article.
- Adjust the layout if needed. The listing describes paper size, orientation, margins, and layout controls.
- Convert and inspect the preview. Check the first page and any later pages, and verify that important content is present and readable.
- Print or download the PDF if the preview is acceptable. If it is not, revise the mode or layout and inspect the new preview before keeping the file.
Choose the right method for the PDF you need
| Need | Good starting point | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| A straightforward printable copy | Chrome Print → Save as PDF | Page breaks, readability, and whether the print layout includes the content you need. |
| Content that runs beyond ordinary print output | An extension’s full-page mode | The complete result, including the end of the page and any content that loads as you scroll. |
| One section rather than the whole page | An extension’s selected-element mode | That the selection includes headings, labels, and context needed to understand it. |
| A less cluttered reading copy | An extension’s clean-article mode | That essential images, tables, and links survived the conversion. |
For a one-off, ordinary page, try Chrome’s native option first. An extension adds another workflow and may provide controls the print dialog does not, but it does not remove the need to review the output. If the task is archiving or sharing, keep the PDF only after confirming that it contains the material you intended to preserve.

Check an extension before installing it
Features and availability can change, so check the current Chrome Web Store listing before installation. Google’s Chrome Help guidance on Enhanced protection says Chrome may warn when an extension is not trusted and describes trusted extensions as being built by developers who follow Chrome Web Store Developer Programme Policies. Treat that signal as one consideration, not a substitute for reviewing the listing yourself.
- Confirm that the listing currently offers the mode you need.
- Review the requested permissions and decide whether they make sense for the extension’s purpose.
- Read the listing details and check whether the extension’s stated output limitations affect your use.
- After installation, test with a page whose PDF you can inspect before relying on the extension for an important document.
Troubleshooting a PDF that looks wrong
The PDF stops before the end of the page
Ordinary print output may paginate a page according to its print layout. If you need a full-page result, try an extension mode that explicitly offers full-page export, then inspect the preview. A page with content that appears only after scrolling may need time to load before conversion.

Images or other content are missing
Wait for the page to finish loading before printing or converting. Some pages load images lazily, and the extension listing notes that page loading can affect output. Recheck the preview; if important content remains absent, the page’s behavior or print layout may not support the result you want.

Text, links, or styling differ from the webpage
A PDF export is not automatically a pixel-for-pixel copy of the browser view. The extension listing attributes preservation of text, links, images, and styling in part to the page’s print layout. Compare the preview with the on-page content and try another mode or layout if it produces a more useful document.
The PDF contains too much surrounding material
Try a selected-element or clean-article mode if the extension offers it. Check the preview carefully so that removing clutter does not also remove context, data labels, or links you need.
The output breaks a table or other important section
Inspect the preview at the point where the layout changes. Try adjusting the available layout options, or select only the relevant section if that produces a clearer result. If neither approach preserves the content reliably, do not treat the PDF as a faithful copy without checking it against the webpage.
Or skip the browser setup
If your actual goal is to capture a page programmatically as an image or PDF, ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. Its API can return a screenshot or PDF from a GET request. The example below is the supplied one-call screenshot request and saves a WebP image; it is not PDF-format syntax. For PDF options such as paper size, margins, orientation, and page ranges, use the ScreenshotNeo API documentation rather than guessing parameters.
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
ScreenshotNeo accepts cookie and consent banners before capture and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets; each of those steps can be turned off. Bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, and responses identify the page verdict and billing status in headers. Its MCP server offers take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf for Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients.
