Use your browser’s Print > Save to PDF command to save a webpage, then adjust the print preview for paper size, scale, and margins. That creates a PDF, but it does not guarantee that the whole PDF is a 300-DPI raster image. A 300-DPI requirement may refer instead to printing a PDF as an image or to the resolution of images inside it. Confirm which output the recipient needs before choosing the final step.
Save a webpage as a PDF in your browser
You do not need a physical printer. The browser’s print dialog can create a PDF directly. Because web pages may reflow for paper, check the preview rather than assuming it will match the screen.
- Open the webpage and wait for the text and images you need to finish loading.
- Open the browser’s Print command. In Firefox, choose Menu > Print. In Edge on Windows, press Ctrl+P; on macOS, press Command+P. Edge also provides Print from its menu and the page context menu.
- Choose Save to PDF as the destination where it is available. In Edge, inspect the available destination and print options for your system.
- Review the preview. Set paper size and orientation, then adjust scale and margins to prevent clipping. Decide whether backgrounds, headers, and footers should appear.
- Save the file, open it, and inspect page breaks, images, links, and text before submitting or printing it.
Firefox’s print settings include paper size, scale, pages per sheet, margins, simplified format, headers and footers, and backgrounds. Its simplified format option disables backgrounds. Edge documents paper size, layout, scale, background graphics, print quality, and access to the system print dialog; some options depend on the selected printer and system. See Mozilla’s Firefox printing instructions and Microsoft’s Edge printing instructions.
Does Save to PDF create a 300-DPI webpage PDF?
Not as a universal setting. The reviewed Firefox instructions and Adobe’s webpage-conversion instructions describe layout and content controls, but do not document a universal 300-DPI option for exporting a webpage to PDF. Page scale changes how content fits on paper; it is not a resolution control.

A webpage PDF can contain selectable text and vector graphics alongside raster images. Those elements do not have to be flattened into one image with a single DPI value. An embedded image has pixel dimensions; its effective resolution in print depends on how large it is placed. Enlarging a small image cannot recover detail that was never captured.
Find out what the 300-DPI requirement means
DPI describes dots per inch in printing or raster output. PPI describes pixels per inch and is commonly used for digital images placed in a document. The terms are related in print workflows but are not interchangeable instructions for every PDF.

- If the requirement is for a normal webpage PDF: save it with the browser workflow and ask the receiving organization whether it needs a particular page size or image resolution.
- If it is for image resolution inside the PDF: check the pixel dimensions and placement size of the images. A 300-DPI printer does not mean every image must be 300 PPI.
- If it is for rasterized pages or print output: use a downstream PDF or print workflow with an explicit resolution control, and confirm its setting against the printer or submission requirements.
Adobe’s PDF settings overview gives examples of pairings—not universal specifications—including a 300-dpi laser printer with 120-ppi image resolution, a 600-dpi laser printer with 170-ppi images, a 1200-dpi imagesetter with 240-ppi images, and a 2400-dpi imagesetter with 300-ppi images. The right image resolution depends on the output process and placement. See Adobe’s PDF settings overview.
When to use a PDF resolution control
Printing an existing PDF as an image in Acrobat
Adobe Acrobat’s Print as Image option is for printing an existing PDF as an image; it allows a DPI setting. It is not a setting for creating a webpage PDF in the browser. Adobe cautions that printing as an image can make text or image edges look rougher. Use it only when the required output calls for rasterized printing, and review the result. See Adobe’s Print PDF as image instructions.

Rasterized PDF printing in Edge
Microsoft’s Edge policy named PrintRasterizePdfDpi controls print image resolution when Edge prints PDFs with rasterization. Microsoft documents 300 DPI as an example policy value. Its scope is rasterized printing of PDFs—not a guarantee that a webpage saved from Edge is a 300-DPI PDF. The policy page was last updated May 22, 2026. See Microsoft’s PrintRasterizePdfDpi policy documentation.
Converting a webpage with Acrobat
Adobe’s webpage-to-PDF conversion settings cover encoding, colors, backgrounds, image inclusion, page size, orientation, margins, and fitting wide content. Those are conversion and layout controls; the documented settings do not specify a 300-DPI webpage-export setting. See Adobe’s webpage conversion settings.

Why the PDF may not match the webpage
- Content is cut off: choose the correct paper size and orientation, then reduce scale or adjust margins in the print preview.
- Images or sections are missing: wait for the page to finish loading before printing, then inspect the saved file.
- Background colors or graphics are absent: enable background printing if the browser offers that option.
- The PDF looks different from the screen: web pages can use a different layout for paper. Check the preview and the saved pages; Firefox specifically notes that pages may set themselves up differently for printing.
- The recipient rejects the file for DPI: ask whether the requirement concerns embedded images, a rasterized page, or physical printer output. Browser page scaling alone does not satisfy a resolution requirement.

For an API-based capture, ScreenshotNeo can return a screenshot or PDF from one request. Its cleanup steps accept cookie and consent banners like a visitor and remove more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets; each step can be turned off. Only clean shots are billed: bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing, with the outcome identified in response headers. It also has an MCP server with screenshot, page-info, and PDF-capture tools for AI agents.
This captures a webpage as a PDF; it does not make a universal 300-DPI export guarantee. For a specific rasterization requirement, clarify the required output with the recipient.
