To save a Urlbox screenshot image as a PDF, display the image in Chrome, open Print, choose Save as PDF as the destination, check the preview, and save. This puts the screenshot image on a PDF page; it does not render the original webpage as a multipage PDF.
Save a Urlbox screenshot image as a PDF in Chrome
- Open the Urlbox screenshot in Chrome. If it appears inside a results page, open the image itself or download it and then open it in Chrome.
- Open Chrome’s Print command from the browser menu or use your platform’s print shortcut.
- In the destination or printer field, select Save as PDF.
- Check the preview. If the image is clipped or too small, adjust the page layout or scale options and review the preview again.
- Select Save, choose a filename and folder, and confirm.
The wording and layout of Chrome’s print dialog can vary by version. The University of Queensland’s 2019 print-to-PDF instructions illustrate the Save as PDF destination, though current dialog labels may differ.
What the resulting PDF contains
Chrome prints the displayed screenshot image onto a PDF page. It does not reconstruct the original live webpage, and the image is not automatically split into a multipage document based on the webpage’s original layout. If the screenshot is very tall, inspect the preview and adjust scale or layout to avoid an unreadable or clipped result.
Save the original webpage as a PDF instead
If you want the page content laid out as a PDF rather than the screenshot image placed on a page, use Urlbox’s PDF rendering option. Its documentation says to set format to pdf; output is multipage by default, while full_page can place the entire page on one PDF page. See Urlbox PDF rendering.

Urlbox’s render options include page sizes such as A4, Letter, and Legal. Print CSS is used by default; setting media to screen selects screen styles instead. The options also cover printed backgrounds and headers, footers, page numbers, and metadata. See Urlbox render options. These settings can change how the page looks compared with the live browser view.
Create a PDF with Chrome Headless
For a command-line workflow that prints a page to PDF, Chrome’s headless mode supports --print-to-pdf. Google’s documentation says this flag saves the target page as output.pdf in the current working directory. The --no-pdf-header-footer flag suppresses print headers and footers; the older flag name was --print-to-pdf-no-header. See the Chrome Headless command-line reference, last updated October 21, 2024.
