To save a Chrome page with its images, let the page finish loading, then choose More (⋮) > More tools > Save page as (or More > Cast, save, and share > Save page as in newer Chrome). Select a folder and click Save. Reopen the saved HTML file locally and check the images. Chrome may create an HTML file plus a resource folder; keep both together.
For one portable file that bundles the document and resources, use an MHTML workflow. For a visual record rather than an editable offline page, print to PDF or capture a full-page image.
Choose the format before saving
The right method depends on whether you need an editable offline copy, a single archive, or a visual snapshot.

Save a webpage with images in desktop Chrome
- Open the complete page. Navigate to the URL and wait for the text and images you need to appear. Scroll through long pages if images load lazily as you approach them.
- Open Save page as. In current Chrome, click More (⋮) > More tools > Save page as. Some newer menu builds place it under More > Cast, save, and share > Save page as.
- Select a destination. Choose a local folder with enough free space. A USB flash drive is also suitable if you want the offline archive on removable storage; Chrome simply saves to the destination you select.
- Choose the file type. Chrome’s dialog may offer Webpage, Complete, which saves an HTML file and a companion resource folder. If an MHTML option is available in your installation or workflow, choose it when a single archive is more important than editability.
- Click Save and wait. Do not close the tab until the download finishes. Large pages with many images can take longer and use more disk space.
- Verify the result. Open the saved HTML file from your file manager. Confirm that representative images, including images near the bottom of a long page, are visible. If Chrome created a folder beside the HTML file, do not rename, move, or delete only one of them.
How to capture images that load late
Saving starts from the page state that Chrome has loaded. Give the page time to finish, dismiss overlays that hide content, and scroll through sections that use lazy loading. If an image appears only after clicking a tab, carousel, “load more” button, or consent control, perform that action before saving. Images blocked by permissions, authentication, a network failure, or an unavailable source cannot be recovered by the save command.
For pages behind a login, save while you are signed in, but expect the local copy to lose features that require the site’s server. A saved file does not preserve your session, server-side database, checkout, comments, or other continuously fetched data.
Make a single-file MHTML archive
MHTML is the clearest choice when you must send or store one file containing the page and its resources. Chrome’s pageCapture documentation defines the format as a single file containing the page and resources such as CSS and images. Availability of an MHTML command can vary by Chrome channel and operating system, so use the Save page dialog when it exposes that type, or an MHTML-capable workflow based on Chrome’s documented page-capture API.
After creating the archive, open it on the computer where you plan to use it. Check image fidelity, fonts, and page length. A single file is easier to copy to a USB flash drive or attach to a message, but it is still a snapshot rather than a guaranteed replacement for the live application.

Save a visual copy as PDF
- Open the page and allow required images to load.
- Press Ctrl+P on Windows/Linux or Command+P on macOS.
- Set the printer destination to Save to PDF.
- Choose paper size, orientation, margins, scale, and whether backgrounds should print.
- Save, then open the PDF and inspect page breaks and image quality.
PDF is preferable when the reader needs a fixed visual record. It will not retain webpage navigation, scripts, or editable HTML structure.
Use a full-page image when appearance is the priority
Chrome’s print flow can create a PDF, while third-party extensions can export a rendered page as PNG or JPG. PageSaver advertises PDF, image, and Markdown exports (PageSaver), and GoFullPage advertises full-page PNG, JPG, and PDF exports (GoFullPage). Verify an extension’s current availability, permissions, and pricing before installing it. Image capture records what was rendered; it does not create an offline, interactive webpage.
Why some images or behavior are missing
- Lazy loading: the image was never requested before the save began. Scroll to it and wait, then save again.
- Interaction-dependent content: a tab, carousel, or “load more” control was not activated. Reproduce the interaction first.
- Authentication: the resource requires a session or signed URL that is not available to the local file.
- Blocked requests: privacy settings, extensions, permissions, CORS rules, or a failed network request prevented loading.
- JavaScript applications: the saved HTML may contain a shell that expects an online API. Static text and images can survive while search, forms, and navigation do not.
- Changing or protected URLs: a source may expire or deny requests after the page is saved.
Official Chrome material promises offline reading and resource encapsulation, not preservation of every dynamically fetched element. Treat missing late-loaded images as a practical limitation, not evidence that the save command is broken.

The Save page as command is missing
Open the three-dot menu and look under More tools, then under Cast, save, and share if your Chrome version uses the newer grouping. You can also use Ctrl+S (Windows/Linux) or Command+S (macOS).

The HTML opens but images show broken icons
Move the HTML file and its companion folder back into the same directory, without changing either name. Save again after scrolling through the missing sections, and check whether an extension or network policy blocked the original requests.
The saved page is unusually large
High-resolution images, video posters, fonts, and third-party resources all consume storage. Save to a drive with adequate free space, and remove unrelated downloads before retrying. A PDF or image may be smaller when you only need appearance.
The page looks different offline
Disable or account for live scripts, server APIs, personalization, and login requirements. Compare the local file with the original while online; no local save method guarantees that an interactive application will continue to function.
Images are absent from a PDF
Return to the page, wait for each image to render, scroll through lazy sections, and print again. Check print backgrounds and scale settings. If the browser still omits content, a full-page capture extension may fit the visual goal better.
