Short answer: YouTube supports multiple simultaneous streams from local encoding software or hardware, but the available official guidance does not confirm the exact current OBS setup for sending two different prerecorded videos to two separate YouTube events from one PC. So the platform-level answer is yes in principle; the OBS-specific method must be verified before you rely on it. You can still prepare both YouTube events, map each encoder output to its own event credentials, and test the complete setup before scheduling a broadcast.
What you can—and cannot—assume about OBS
YouTube Help says local software or hardware encoders support multiple simultaneous streams. That establishes that YouTube can receive more than one stream from a local encoding setup; it does not prove that one OBS process can produce two independent outputs, that two OBS instances are required, or that either approach will reliably play two different prerecorded files on a particular PC.
The unresolved detail is the current OBS procedure for two independent prerecorded outputs, including output configuration, media-source behavior, and resource requirements. Do not treat YouTube’s general multi-stream guidance as an OBS configuration guide. Before committing to an event, check current OBS primary documentation for a supported way to produce two separate outputs and test it on the actual computer.
Check channel eligibility and prepare two YouTube events
First confirm that the channel is eligible to live stream. YouTube Help says the channel must be verified, have had no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days, and the streamer must be at least 16. See YouTube’s live-streaming access requirements.

- In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and use Manage to create or schedule the first live event. Repeat for the second video, creating a distinct event for each stream. Scheduling lets you prepare and share each event’s watch URL.
- For each event, note its stream URL and stream key. YouTube’s documented workflow uses those event details to tell the encoder where to send the feed. Keep the two event-to-output mappings separate and verify them carefully; a stream key is a credential, so do not publish or share it.
- Prepare each prerecorded video’s audio and picture for its intended event. Confirm that the selected playback method can provide a separate video and audio feed for each output; the YouTube documentation does not specify how to configure OBS to do that.
YouTube says stream settings can be reused when creating another stream, but reusing settings does not mean that the events share a stream key or that one output automatically feeds both events. Confirm the credentials associated with each event in Live Control Room.
Set encoder quality for two simultaneous outputs
For each output, choose settings supported by YouTube and appropriate for the intended resolution and frame rate. YouTube’s general encoder guidance lists RTMP or RTMPS transport, H.264 video, constant bitrate (CBR), and a recommended two-second keyframe interval. Its recommended target bitrate depends on resolution and frame rate, so select the relevant value from YouTube’s encoder settings rather than using one bitrate for every stream.

- Transport: Use RTMPS where the encoder and connection support it.
- Video: Use H.264 and CBR, with the frame rate and resolution suited to the source video and the relevant YouTube guidance.
- Keyframes: Set the interval to two seconds, YouTube’s recommended value in its listed settings.
- Audio: Check that the audio feed is present and that the encoder’s selected audio settings are supported; confirm actual playback in the preview.
- Connection: YouTube advises choosing a quality reliable for the upload connection and running a speed test. Two simultaneous outputs share the connection’s available upload capacity. The reviewed YouTube guidance does not provide a specific two-stream bandwidth formula, so test both outputs together at the intended settings instead of assuming that a single-stream test is sufficient.
A setting can be valid for one output yet fail when both are active. If the connection or computer cannot sustain the combined workload, lower the chosen quality or use an encoding approach with enough local capacity. A cloud encoder is another broad option YouTube describes for reducing the load on an older or slower local computer, though it does not resolve the OBS-specific two-output question by itself.
Test both events before the scheduled start
- Use the current OBS documentation to confirm a supported method for creating two independent outputs, then configure each output with the matching event’s stream URL and stream key.
- Test with representative video motion and audio from both prerecorded files. Run both outputs at the quality you plan to use, since testing only one does not reveal the combined upload and encoding load.
- Preview each event in Live Control Room. Check that the correct prerecorded video and audio appear on the correct event, and confirm that both event previews show a healthy incoming stream.
- Start the encoders early enough to troubleshoot. YouTube Help recommends starting the encoder at least 15 minutes before a scheduled event. Monitor stream health while live, and stop the relevant encoder when its event ends.
Keep the stream key private throughout setup. If a key is exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio and update the corresponding encoder output before going live.

Troubleshoot common failures
| Symptom | Likely area to check | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| One event receives the wrong video, or both events receive the same feed | Output-to-event mapping or the OBS method used for separate outputs | Recheck which stream URL and key belong to each event. Verify in current OBS documentation that the configured method can produce independent prerecorded outputs, then test both previews again. |
| An event shows no incoming video | Encoder output, stream URL, key, or event status | Confirm that the output is active and that its URL and key match the intended event. Check the event preview in Live Control Room before troubleshooting picture settings. |
| Video stutters or stream health degrades when both feeds run | Combined upload capacity or local encoding capacity | Test both outputs together, lower the quality to a level reliable for the connection, and review the encoder’s resource use. A one-output test cannot establish that the computer and connection can sustain two. |
| Audio is missing or attached to the wrong video | Playback or output audio routing | Test each prerecorded file’s audio in its own event preview and verify that the encoder method keeps each audio feed paired with the intended video. |
| The channel cannot start a live stream | Channel eligibility | Check verification status, any live-stream restrictions during the previous 90 days, and the age requirement in YouTube’s live-streaming access requirements. |
Copyright and YouTube policy still apply
Playing a prerecorded file as a live broadcast does not remove the need to have rights to its video, music, and other included material. Review YouTube’s current copyright guidance and channel monetization policies, including their treatment of reused content. Permission to broadcast copyrighted material and eligibility for monetization are separate questions; meeting one does not automatically satisfy the other.
