To keep a recorded webinar playing as a 24/7 YouTube Live stream, schedule or create a YouTube event, then connect an encoder or cloud playback service that sends the recording continuously. Scheduling alone creates the event page; it does not play or loop the video. You can run playback from a local computer with software such as OBS, or use a cloud service so a computer at home does not have to stay on.
What you need before going live
- A YouTube channel that is verified and has no live-stream restrictions in the previous 90 days. First-time live-stream enablement can take up to 24 hours, so activate it ahead of your planned start. YouTube says streamers must be at least 16. YouTube’s live-streaming setup guidance explains the requirements.
- A finished webinar recording, plus the rights needed to stream everything in it. Check not just your narration and slides, but also embedded music, guest footage, clips, and sponsor material. YouTube’s Terms of Service require the necessary rights to exploit the content, including applicable music rights.
- A playback method: a local encoder you keep running, or a cloud service that plays the uploaded video or playlist and sends it to YouTube.
Schedule the YouTube Live event
- Open YouTube Studio and go to Create > Go live to open Live Control Room.
- Create a stream, or open the Manage tab and schedule one. Add the title, description, audience setting, and start time, then save the event. Scheduling gives viewers a watch page and can support promotion and reminders; it does not supply the video feed.
- In Live Control Room, locate the stream’s server URL and stream key. Keep the key private: anyone who has it may be able to send a feed to your event. Paste these values into the encoder or cloud service you choose. YouTube describes an encoder as software or hardware that converts video into a format it can stream.
For a first test, use a private or unlisted event if the option is available for your setup. Confirm that the right event, recording, and audio are selected, and that playback restarts or loops as intended. Check the live status in YouTube Studio and test what happens if the encoder or network disconnects. A rehearsal can reveal setup problems, but it cannot guarantee how a service will recover in every interruption.
Choose how to keep the webinar playing
For an unattended 24/7 prerecorded YouTube stream, StreamNeo is the first option to consider: it loops uploaded video from the cloud, supports any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and offers a free first day. YouTube’s verified-encoder list also identifies Gyre as a cloud service for 24/7 prerecorded YouTube streaming. Confirm a provider’s current file limits, looping and playlist behavior, interruption recovery, monitoring, and plan cost before relying on it.
| Method | Good fit | What to account for |
|---|---|---|
| StreamNeo cloud playback | An uploaded webinar that should keep playing on YouTube without a local computer running. | It is a YouTube-only service for uploaded videos, not a live camera feed. Check storage against your recording and playlist needs. |
| Local encoder such as OBS | A creator who wants direct production control and can keep the computer, connection, and software available. | You must maintain local uptime, monitor the feed, and handle continuity and recovery. YouTube lists OBS as open-source streaming software, but does not promise unattended restart behavior. |
| Gyre cloud service | Cloud-based 24/7 prerecorded YouTube playback; YouTube includes Gyre in its verified-encoder list. | Check current plan limits, file handling, restart behavior, monitoring, and cost with the provider. |
| StreamYard prerecorded broadcast | A finite prerecorded webinar scheduled to start automatically. | Its documented maximum video length is 2 hours on Core, 4 hours on Advanced, and 8 hours on Teams or Business; that is not an unlimited 24/7 loop. See StreamYard’s prerecorded-stream guidance. |
| Restream video-file or playlist event | Scheduling a video file or playlist as a source, including for a multistream workflow. | The available documentation lists these source types but does not establish uninterrupted, all-plan 24/7 looping. Verify that the specific plan supports the continuous playback you need. See Restream’s prerecorded-video guidance. |
When comparing services, check loop and playlist support, maximum file length, local versus cloud uptime, restart and monitoring behavior, archive needs, event scheduling, rights, monetization eligibility, and current price. Feature limits and plan details can change.

Run it from your own computer with OBS
A local setup keeps playback and production under your control, but the computer and internet connection must remain available for the stream to continue. Exact labels can vary by OBS version; YouTube’s encoder instructions provide the current server URL and key for your event.
- Install OBS from its official download page. Keep the webinar file on the computer that will run the stream.
- In OBS, add the recording as a media source. Enable looping if you want the video to restart after it ends. Check the source’s audio and video in the preview; mute or remove any unintended desktop or microphone capture sources.
- Open OBS Settings > Stream. Select YouTube if offered, then connect your account or choose the option to use a stream key. If entering the details manually, copy the server URL and stream key from the matching YouTube event into OBS. Do not reuse a key casually across events or share it publicly.
- Open Settings > Output and check the streaming encoder and bitrate supported by your upload connection and intended video quality. In Settings > Video, set the output resolution and frame rate to match a sensible delivery target for the source and connection. Use YouTube’s current live encoder settings for its recommended resolution, bitrate, and keyframe guidance; the appropriate values depend on resolution and frame rate.
- Run a private or unlisted rehearsal. Start streaming from OBS, then confirm in Live Control Room that the feed is arriving, audio is audible, and the correct recording is playing. Check the loop after the recording ends rather than assuming the media source will restart as expected.
- For the public event, start OBS only when the scheduled stream is ready, then verify the event is live in YouTube Studio. Keep the computer awake, OBS open, and network connected for the entire run. Monitor playback and have a recovery plan for a crash, disconnect, or power loss.
Or let it run in the cloud

Protect the archive and plan for a long-running event
A 24/7 YouTube Live event is not a dependable archive of the full webinar. YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived; if a stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all. YouTube recommends keeping a local archive. Preserve the original recording separately if viewers need to replay the entire webinar later. See YouTube’s live-stream archive guidance.
YouTube’s live-stream guidance also states that a channel can have up to 10 active streams and each stream key up to 3 active streams. That is unlikely to affect one webinar feed, but it can matter if you run several simultaneous outputs. Check the current limits in YouTube’s live-streaming help.

Rights, monetization, and audience expectations
Clear every part of the recording
Having permission to show a guest or use music in the original webinar does not automatically establish that you have the rights needed for a continuous public live stream. Review licenses and permissions for the full recording and confirm that they cover the intended use, territory, and duration. If a rights holder or YouTube blocks content, the live feed may be interrupted or restricted.
Do not assume a loop will be monetized
YouTube applies its channel monetization policies to live streams. Its policy update dated July 15, 2025 renamed “repetitious content” as “inauthentic content” to clarify that repetitive or mass-produced material may be ineligible for monetization. Whether a webinar channel qualifies depends on its content and channel status; a 24/7 loop does not itself establish eligibility. Even when monetization is enabled, YouTube says ads are not guaranteed to serve. See YouTube’s channel monetization policies and its live-stream monetization guidance.

Set expectations for an evergreen event
Make clear in the title, description, or on-screen graphic that viewers are watching a recording if that context could otherwise be mistaken for a live presentation. Check that calls to action, dates, offers, registration links, and references to “today” are still accurate before leaving the webinar in a continuous loop.

Troubleshoot common problems
- The event page exists, but no video appears: Scheduling did not start a feed. Start the encoder or cloud playback and confirm it has the server URL and key for the same event.
- YouTube says the stream key is invalid or no signal is arriving: Copy the key and server URL again from the selected event, check that they were pasted into the correct encoder fields, and confirm the encoder is running. Avoid exposing the key.
- The webinar plays once and stops: Verify that looping is enabled in the media source or playback service, then test a complete restart during a rehearsal. Do not assume that playlist support means a single video repeats indefinitely.
- The stream stops when you leave: A local encoder depends on the computer, power, network, and software remaining available. Check sleep settings and connection stability, or use a cloud playback service for playback that does not depend on a home computer.
- Video or audio is missing or incorrect: Check the selected file and source in the encoder preview, confirm audio routing and levels, and test the exact event privately or unlisted before promoting it.
- The stream disappears after a long run: Check whether the encoder or provider disconnected and whether the stream needs to be restarted. Separately, do not rely on YouTube to archive a stream over 12 hours; keep the source recording as your archive.
- The stream is blocked or restricted: Review the rights to music, clips, guest footage, and other embedded material, then check YouTube Studio for notices. A valid event and working encoder do not resolve a rights problem.
