Use OBS Studio on the mini PC to loop the hotel’s promotional video, then send that output to YouTube Live with an encoder stream URL and key. The loop control handles playback; it does not guarantee that the computer, encoder, or network will stay online. Test the complete setup before relying on it for a continuous broadcast.
Before you set up the stream
Clear the content and music rights
Confirm the hotel has permission to broadcast every part of the video, including footage, logos, voice recordings, stock assets, and music. YouTube’s live-stream terms require the necessary rights, including music rights. YouTube also scans live streams for third-party content; a match can trigger a warning, a placeholder image, interruption, or termination. Even licensed material may cause a problem if the rights holder has not allowlisted the channel. See YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams.
Check that the channel can go live
YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. First-time live-stream enablement can take up to 24 hours, so confirm access well before the planned broadcast. See YouTube’s encoder setup guide and live-streaming tips.
Check the mini PC and connection in practice
No universal minimum mini PC specifications are established here. The load depends on the chosen resolution, frame rate, codec, OBS scene, and encoding method. Test the actual hardware and network configuration you intend to use; do not assume a device is suitable for unattended operation based on its form factor alone.

Build the video loop in OBS
Loop one edited promotional video
- Open OBS Studio and create or select a scene for the hotel broadcast.
- In the Sources panel, select + and add a Media Source.
- Select the hotel’s local video file, then enable Loop in the source properties.
- Play the file through to the end and confirm it restarts as intended. Check the picture, sound, and any captions or overlays.
OBS describes the Media Source Loop control as specifying whether the file plays again after playback completes. Its Media Sources guide also covers supported sources and settings.
Loop a playlist of clips
If the promotion consists of separate clips, add a VLC Video source, create the playlist, and enable Loop Playlist. This suits content that needs multiple assets or a fixed clip order. A single edited master is simpler to maintain; a playlist lets you replace individual clips, but you should check the order and transitions by playing the full sequence. OBS supports both approaches, but neither is established as better for bookings or viewer engagement.

Create the YouTube Live event and connect OBS
- Open YouTube Studio and go to the Live Control Room. Create or schedule the stream, and set its title, description, privacy, and other event details.
- In the encoder setup, copy the YouTube stream URL and stream key into OBS’s streaming settings. YouTube’s stream settings guide explains the connection details.
- Treat the stream key like a password. Do not publish or share it. If it is exposed, reset the key in YouTube Studio and update OBS with the replacement.
- Use RTMPS where available. YouTube recommends RTMPS for encoder streaming; select the matching server URL and verify that OBS is using the intended event and key.
Choose output settings and protect upload capacity
There is no single best resolution or bitrate for every hotel video and mini PC. Choose settings that the computer can encode reliably and the connection can sustain, then validate them with a test stream. YouTube’s encoder settings guidance recommends constant bitrate and a two-second keyframe interval, with the interval not exceeding four seconds.
- Resolution and frame rate: match the source and the result you need, while accounting for the PC’s tested encoding capability.
- Bitrate: choose a bitrate appropriate to the selected output and available upload bandwidth. YouTube states that the total stream bitrate cannot exceed the available upload bandwidth.
- Network headroom: YouTube recommends keeping 20% of upload bandwidth available beyond the stream’s total bitrate. Shared hotel or office networks can reduce the bandwidth actually available to OBS.
- Connection reliability: test on the network and at the location where the mini PC will run. A speed result from a different connection or time does not establish that the stream will remain stable.
For YouTube’s network guidance, see streaming tips and network requirements. Lowering output demands may ease encoding and network load, but the right setting depends on the asset, connection, and PC.

Test the complete setup before going public
- Set the event to private or unlisted for the test, as appropriate, and start OBS well ahead of the public schedule.
- Check the Live Control Room preview for picture, audio, and stream health. Confirm that the event is visible on the intended channel or watch page and check it on a phone as well.
- Let the video reach its end and verify that it loops cleanly. For a playlist, check the sequence and transitions.
- Leave the actual mini PC and network configuration running long enough to expose problems you might miss in a brief preview. Check that the stream continues and that the PC does not suspend or lose its connection.
- For a scheduled event, YouTube’s encoder guidance says to set up encoders at least two hours before the event and start the encoder at least 15 minutes before it begins. Use the preview and stream-health indicators to confirm readiness.
YouTube recommends testing and monitoring; these steps do not guarantee a particular PC or network will run continuously. See YouTube’s live-streaming tips.
Know what happens to the archive
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not count on an automatic archive for a longer continuous broadcast; keep the original promotional file separately. See YouTube’s archive guidance.

Troubleshoot common problems
- OBS will not connect: check that the selected YouTube event, stream URL, and key match. If the key was exposed or reset, replace it in OBS. Confirm the channel is eligible to stream and that first-time enablement has finished.
- The preview is unstable or drops: check available upload bandwidth against the total bitrate, including YouTube’s recommended 20% headroom. Consider lowering the output demands and retest on the actual network; shared-network traffic can affect capacity.
- The video stops at the end: reopen the Media Source properties and confirm Loop is enabled. For a clip list, confirm the VLC Video source and Loop Playlist setting.
- There is no picture or the file will not play: confirm the selected file path is valid on the mini PC and that the media source can play that file. Test playback in OBS before starting the event.
- Audio or picture is missing from the preview: check the source’s playback and OBS output, then verify the Live Control Room preview before making the event public.
- YouTube interrupts the broadcast or shows a placeholder: investigate potential third-party content matches. Confirm the rights cover live streaming; if content is licensed, ask the rights holder about allowlisting the channel.
- The stream ends but no archive appears: a stream lasting 12 hours or longer is not covered by YouTube’s automatic-archive guidance. Retain the source file independently.
