You can run a podcast as a YouTube live stream from a Windows PC by sending a live microphone feed, playing prerecorded episodes through an encoder, or scheduling separate broadcasts. For a near-continuous prerecorded stream, set up YouTube Live Control Room and an encoder, then plan to monitor and restart sessions: YouTube documents automatic archiving for streams under 12 hours, but does not promise that one Windows PC session will run indefinitely.
This guide is for a YouTube stream whose audio is in Hindi; the setup steps are the same regardless of language. The right workflow depends on whether a person will speak live, the stream will play recordings, or broadcasts will be scheduled one after another.
Choose how the podcast will go live
| Workflow | Audio source | What to plan for |
|---|---|---|
| Live-hosted podcast | A microphone connected to the Windows PC and selected in the encoder | The host must be present to speak and should monitor audio during the broadcast. |
| Prerecorded episodes | Episode files or a playlist selected as playback sources in the encoder | Confirm the encoder can play the files in sequence and keep the PC, encoder, and network running. A microphone is optional. |
| Successive scheduled broadcasts | A live source or prerecorded material for each session | Create and check each session in YouTube Studio. Do not assume that a YouTube playlist is automatically an encoder input. |
If you need a person speaking live, use the microphone workflow. If the goal is a continuous channel built from existing episodes, configure prerecorded playback and account for operator checks, interruptions, and session restarts.
Check YouTube access before planning a broadcast
YouTube says a channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. Its general live-stream help also states a minimum age of 16. Enabling live streaming for the first time may take up to 24 hours, so check that the channel can go live in YouTube Studio before announcing a start time. Requirements and enforcement can change; confirm the current status in Studio and YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility help.

- Memory: 32GB DDR4 Ram

Set up a Windows PC encoder stream
- Prepare the source. For a live show, connect the microphone or headset and select it in the encoder. For a prerecorded show, make the episode files or intended playback sequence available to the encoder. Test that the expected audio reaches the encoder; choose a simple visual if the podcast does not need a complex video scene.
- Create the broadcast in YouTube Studio. Open YouTube Studio, select Go Live, and create or schedule an encoder stream. In Live Control Room, locate the stream URL and stream key.
- Enter the destination in the encoder. Paste YouTube’s stream URL into the encoder’s server or URL field and the stream key into its key field. Treat the key like a password: anyone who obtains it may be able to send video to that stream. Do not publish it or show it on screen.
- Set video and audio options. Choose the resolution and frame rate your PC and upload connection can sustain. For a mostly static podcast visual, higher frame rates are often unnecessary. Follow the current YouTube bitrate table for the selected codec, resolution, and frame rate rather than copying a bitrate chosen for a different profile. Set constant bitrate (CBR), a 2-second keyframe interval, and AAC or MP3 audio. YouTube recommends 128 Kbps for stereo audio. Its documented video options include H.264, H.265, and AV1, with up to 60 fps; RTMP/RTMPS are supported and YouTube recommends RTMPS. See YouTube’s encoder settings and bitrate guidance.
- Check your connection. The stream’s total bitrate must fit the upload capacity actually available to the PC. YouTube recommends 20% spare upload bandwidth. Other devices and network activity can reduce capacity, so test the intended feed under realistic conditions. See YouTube’s streaming tips.
- Preview before going live. Start sending the encoder feed and wait for it to appear in Live Control Room. Check that the correct source is playing, Hindi speech is clear, audio is not clipping, and video is stable. Start the broadcast in Studio when the preview is ready, then monitor stream health.
Plan a near-continuous stream around session limits
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That is an archive rule, not a guarantee that a long broadcast will remain stable or that an unbroken 24/7 stream will archive fully. A Windows PC setup depends on the PC, encoder, playback source, and internet connection continuing to work; YouTube’s cited setup guidance does not promise indefinite uptime from a local encoder.
For an around-the-clock schedule, plan controlled sessions and restarts rather than assuming one encoder session can run forever. Arrange someone to check the stream, verify the current Live Control Room behavior for the planned duration, and decide how to resume after a PC, encoder, or network interruption.

Clear rights for every part of the broadcast
You need the rights to use each podcast recording, music bed, image, and other material in both the live feed and any archive. YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches. If it detects protected material, it may replace the stream with a placeholder, interrupt it, or terminate it if the material remains. A license does not necessarily prevent interruption: a rights holder may also need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. Read YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams and its livestream terms and conditions.
YouTube’s terms state: “You represent and warrant that you have all necessary rights for the exploitation of the Live Content on the Google Services throughout the world, including, without limitation, music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers (including public performance licenses) and any other royalty participants.”

Troubleshoot common failures
- Live streaming is unavailable in Studio: Check channel verification and whether the channel has a live-streaming restriction. If this is the first activation, allow up to 24 hours and check again before scheduling a public start.
- The encoder connects but Studio receives no feed: Check that the correct stream URL and key are entered in the corresponding fields, the encoder is sending, and the selected source is active. If the key may have been exposed, replace it in Studio and update the encoder.
- The stream buffers or drops: Reduce the encoder bitrate or video profile to one the available upload connection can sustain. Check other network use and retest with the recommended upload headroom.
- Viewers cannot hear the podcast: Confirm the correct microphone or playback device is selected in the encoder, that its level is not muted, and that audio appears in the Live Control Room preview before going live.
- The stream is interrupted after a copyright match: Identify the matched material and remove or replace it unless you have the necessary rights. If the content is licensed, contact the rights holder about allowlisting your channel.
- The archive is missing or incomplete: Check the session duration and current Studio archive status. YouTube’s documented automatic-archive rule applies to streams under 12 hours; do not treat it as a promise of a complete archive for a longer continuous broadcast.
