The important limitation: YouTube’s cited guidance says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; it does not establish that one OBS session can reliably run uninterrupted 24/7. For an extended broadcast, plan for someone to monitor the computer, network, playback, and YouTube stream health.
Before you start
- A YouTube channel with live streaming enabled. YouTube says the channel must be verified and have no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. First-time activation may take up to 24 hours, so enable it ahead of your planned broadcast. YouTube live streaming tips
- A computer running OBS and an upload connection that can sustain the chosen resolution and bitrate.
- A video or set of visuals, bhajan audio, and the rights needed to stream and archive them.
- Time to test the complete setup, including representative audio and moving video.
For an ordinary prerecorded bhajan stream, OBS sends your prepared video and audio to YouTube through an encoder connection. This is different from broadcasting a live performance, where microphones, instruments, and camera feeds also need to be brought into the OBS scene.
Enable YouTube Live and create a stream
- Verify the channel and enable live streaming in YouTube Studio. If this is the channel’s first livestream, allow up to 24 hours for activation. Check the channel’s eligibility and current restrictions in YouTube’s live streaming tips.
- Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room and create a stream or select an existing one. Set the title, visibility, and other stream details there. YouTube documents stream management in Manage live stream settings.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for the stream. In OBS, open its streaming settings and enter the YouTube service or server details and the key. The exact OBS labels can vary by version; use the current OBS interface and YouTube’s encoder setup guide to match the connection details.
Treat the stream key like a password: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to your stream. Do not show it in a recording or share it publicly. If it is exposed, reset it in YouTube Studio and update OBS with the replacement.
Prepare the bhajan scene in OBS
- Create a scene for the broadcast and add the video or visual source and audio source you intend to use. Check that the picture fills the intended canvas and that the audio meter responds during playback.
- If you are using a sequence of prerecorded videos, arrange the playback workflow and confirm that it advances and repeats as intended. OBS controls and menu labels can differ between versions, so verify the playlist or looping behavior in the version installed rather than relying on a presumed menu path.
- Choose the output resolution and frame rate based on the source material and the upload connection, not simply the highest available values. A static devotional image with audio may not benefit from the same frame rate as footage with movement.
- Review the audio level, transitions, and any on-screen text. Play a representative section from each source you plan to use; a scene that looks correct while paused may still have silent or mismatched playback once the stream is live.
Choose stable encoder settings
YouTube’s general encoder guidance lists RTMP or RTMPS ingestion, H.264 video, constant bitrate encoding (CBR), and a recommended two-second keyframe interval, not over four seconds. It also publishes bitrate ranges by resolution. Choose a value from YouTube’s current table for your actual output resolution and frame rate rather than applying one bitrate to every stream. - 850W 80+ GOLD POWER SUPPLY, 360MM LIQUID COOLING & WiFi 7 - An 850W 80 Plus Gold certified power supply provides stable, efficient power with headroom for future upgrades, while a 360mm AIO liquid cooler, WiFi 7, and an ARGB mid-tower case keep the Ryzen 7 CPU cool and connected in a clean build.
- READY TO PLAY OUT OF THE BOX - Arrives fully assembled and tested with Windows 11 Home pre-installed, so your prebuilt gaming computer is ready to set up in minutes. Assembled in the USA, and backed by a one-year limited warranty and lifetime free technical support.
- Protocol: Use the normal YouTube/OBS streaming option and confirm the connection details in Live Control Room. YouTube recommends RTMPS for encrypted ingestion.
- Video codec and rate control: Use H.264 and CBR as described in YouTube’s encoder guidance.
- Keyframes: Set a two-second interval where OBS exposes the control; do not exceed four seconds per the cited YouTube guidance.
- Resolution, frame rate, and bitrate: Select the matching row in YouTube’s current settings table. If your upload connection cannot sustain the selected bitrate consistently, lower the output quality until the stream is stable.
- Connection capacity: Run a speed test and leave enough headroom for normal fluctuations and other devices using the connection. A speed-test result is not a guarantee of uninterrupted upload capacity over a long broadcast.
HLS is also supported by YouTube with OBS, but it is mainly relevant to supported codec or HDR workflows and has higher latency than RTMP because video is sent in segments. YouTube’s HLS setup documentation specifies TS segments of 1–4 seconds and a rolling playlist with no more than five outstanding segments, among other constraints. For a standard bhajan stream without a particular HLS requirement, the normal YouTube/OBS option is the more direct setup. Set up an HLS stream
Test privately before going public
- In YouTube Studio, select an appropriate private or unlisted test setting, then start streaming from OBS.
- Wait for the preview in Live Control Room and check that video and audio arrive together. Listen on a separate device if possible, since the OBS preview alone does not confirm what viewers receive from YouTube.
- Play representative content, including any changes between bhajans, and watch YouTube’s stream-health status and messages.
- Check that the live page is accessible from the channel or watch page and from a mobile device, as YouTube recommends in its live streaming tips.
- Stop the test and correct issues before announcing or scheduling the public broadcast.
YouTube recommends configuring encoders in advance, testing, and monitoring throughout the event. A single OBS computer does not become redundant merely because YouTube supports encoder failover; a backup encoder needs to be configured and tested separately.

Keep an extended stream running and plan for archives
For a long OBS broadcast, the computer, OBS process, source playback, power, and network all need to remain available. YouTube’s cited setup guidance does not promise uninterrupted 24/7 continuity or document an unattended OBS restart mechanism. Have an operator who can respond if playback stops, the connection fails, or YouTube reports a problem. Test the actual computer and network under the conditions in which you expect to run them.
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not assume that one continuous broadcast longer than that threshold will produce a single complete archive based on this guidance alone. If preserving a recording matters, plan archive handling around YouTube’s documented limit and verify the resulting video in Studio. Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder

Clear rights for bhajan audio and visuals
Devotional subject matter or traditional lyrics do not by themselves make a particular recording, arrangement, performance, or visual free to use. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content matches; a stream may be interrupted or terminated if copyrighted content remains. YouTube’s livestream terms put responsibility on the provider to have the necessary worldwide rights, including music licensing rights. - Prefer recordings and visuals you created yourself, or material whose licence clearly covers the intended livestream and any resulting archive.
- Check rights for the actual recording as well as the underlying composition and any visuals; permission for one element does not automatically clear the others.
- If you have a licence for third-party content, ask whether the rights owner must add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. YouTube notes that a licence alone may not prevent a live interruption if the channel is not allowlisted.
- Keep records of permissions and licence terms so you can respond to a claim or interruption.
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check or do |
|---|---|---|
| Live streaming is unavailable in Studio | The channel is not eligible, has a restriction, or first-time activation is still processing. | Verify the channel, review live-stream restrictions, and allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation. Check YouTube’s eligibility guidance. |
| OBS connects to the wrong or no stream | Incorrect stream URL or key, or a key that has been reset. | Compare OBS’s connection details with the selected stream in Live Control Room. If the key may have been exposed, reset it in Studio and replace the OBS value. |
| Video or audio does not appear in the YouTube preview | Incorrect scene or source, muted audio, or a connection/encoder configuration problem. | Check the active OBS scene, source visibility, audio meters, stream key, and Studio messages. Test a short representative segment again before going public. |
| Stream health degrades or viewers see interruptions | The upload connection cannot sustain the chosen bitrate or is fluctuating. | Run a speed test, reduce resolution, frame rate, or bitrate using YouTube’s current settings table, and test again. Prefer a stable lower setting over one the connection cannot maintain. |
| Bhajan audio triggers a match or the stream is interrupted | The recording or other content is claimed by a rights owner, or the channel is not allowlisted. | Use cleared material, resolve rights with the owner, and ask whether Content ID allowlisting is needed. See YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams. |
| The archive is missing or incomplete after a very long broadcast | The stream exceeded YouTube’s stated automatic-archiving duration guidance. | YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; do not rely on that statement to guarantee one archive for a longer session. Plan and verify archive handling in Studio. |
