A local setup depends on powered equipment and a reliable internet connection; a cloud service can keep playback running without leaving a computer at home on. Test the full workflow before launch, protect your stream key, and plan separately for copyright checks and replay archiving.
Choose how the stream will run
YouTube Live can receive a stream from software or a standalone hardware encoder. For prerecorded video running continuously, YouTube also identifies cloud services as an option. The main difference is where the playback and stream delivery operate.

For a local workflow, YouTube lists OBS among encoders that support HLS. Its encoder guidance also names cloud options for continuous prerecorded-video streaming, but that mention is not a comparison or endorsement of current plans or reliability.
Check channel eligibility and enable live streaming
- Verify your YouTube channel and confirm it has no live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days. These are YouTube’s stated eligibility conditions: YouTube’s live-streaming access requirements.
- Enable live streaming in YouTube Studio well before your planned start. YouTube says first-time activation may take up to 24 hours, so do not wait until launch day. See YouTube’s setup guidance.
- In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create or schedule the stream. Scheduling lets you share the watch page in advance. Set the title, privacy, and stream details for your audience and launch plan.
Prepare the video and confirm streaming rights
Use a recording for which you have the rights needed for a worldwide YouTube live broadcast, including applicable music rights. YouTube’s live-stream terms say creators must have the necessary rights for the live content on Google services worldwide, including music licensing rights involving artists, labels, publishers, and other rights participants. Rights depend on your specific recording and agreements; do not assume that a devotional recording is free to rebroadcast.

YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. It warns that a stream can be interrupted even when the creator has licensed the content if the channel is not on the rights holder’s allowlist. A placeholder may replace the stream, and persistent third-party content can lead to temporary interruption or termination. Check YouTube’s live-stream copyright guidance and, where relevant, ask the rights holder about allowlisting.
Creator Music is not a shortcut for this use: YouTube’s Creator Music usage details say videos using covered Creator Music tracks cannot be live streams. Confirm the permissions and platform requirements for every recording before going on air.

Set up a local encoder and connect it to YouTube
- Create the broadcast: In YouTube Studio, go to Live Control Room and create or schedule a stream. Choose the appropriate visibility and enter its title and other details.
- Get the ingest details: In the stream’s settings in Live Control Room, obtain the YouTube stream URL and stream key. The exact controls can vary with the stream setup; use YouTube’s stream settings instructions.
- Protect the key: Enter the URL and key only in the encoder you intend to use. Treat the key like a password: do not post it, share screenshots containing it, or put it in an untrusted service. If it is exposed, reset it in Live Control Room and update the encoder.
- Load the recording: Configure the encoder to play the Sai Sandhya recording or playlist continuously. Confirm that the chosen encoder and ingest protocol work together; YouTube’s encoder documentation includes protocol guidance at YouTube’s encoder setup page.
- Preview before going live: Start the encoder and check the Live Control Room preview. Confirm that video is visible and audio is clear before making the broadcast public.
YouTube’s cited setup pages do not establish a single bitrate, resolution, or keyframe interval suitable for every source and connection. Configure the encoder for the quality of your recording and a stable upload connection, then use YouTube’s live preview and stream health information to catch problems rather than assuming one setting fits all.
Test the continuous run, recovery, and viewer experience
A 24/7 broadcast needs an operating plan, not just a successful initial connection. YouTube recommends testing the encoder and failover, checking mobile access, and monitoring audio and video quality. Its event guidance recommends setting up encoders at least 2 hours before an event and starting them at least 15 minutes ahead; those are general event-preparation recommendations, not stated mandatory lead times for a permanently running stream. - Run a private or otherwise controlled test and check that playback repeats as intended without gaps or unexpected silence.
- Test what happens after the encoder, computer, network, or power is interrupted. Know who will notice the failure and what steps will restore the stream.
- If recording an archive locally, verify that the archive file continues to grow and that storage will not fill during the run.
- Open the watch page on a phone as well as a computer, and listen for audio problems at ordinary playback volume.
- Keep the stream key restricted to the people and systems that need it.
Plan the replay separately from the live stream
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Its cited encoder guidance does not promise a complete archive for one broadcast that runs longer than 12 hours. If a complete replay matters, do not rely on a single 24-hour broadcast to produce one: arrange separate sessions or retain an independent recording, then verify the current behavior in YouTube Studio. The archive limit is distinct from whether the live broadcast itself can continue.

Troubleshoot common problems
