You can run recorded SAT lessons as a continuous YouTube live stream with an encoder that plays a prepared program into YouTube Live. Build the schedule from original teaching, clear every video and audio asset for broadcast, and test the full stream before advertising it as always available. YouTube’s general guidance does not guarantee a particular encoder, computer, internet connection, or unattended 24/7 setup.

What you need before you start

For a prerecorded program with lesson footage, slides, and scheduled segments, use an encoder workflow rather than treating a webcam or phone broadcast as the whole production. YouTube lists mobile, webcam, and encoder as live-stream options; it notes that encoders are commonly used for overlays and production hardware. Its setup guidance does not prescribe a 24/7 loop or automatic restart design, so confirm those capabilities in your chosen encoder’s current documentation.

  • A YouTube channel with live streaming enabled and access to YouTube Live Control Room.
  • An encoder that can play your prerecorded program and send it to YouTube using your stream key.
  • A program made from lesson video, graphics, audio, and SAT materials you own or have permission to use.
  • A tested operating arrangement. YouTube does not guarantee that a specific computer, encoder, upload speed, or unattended setup will remain live continuously.

See YouTube’s live-stream setup guidance for the available broadcast paths and test-stream recommendation.

Plan a useful SAT-prep program

Make the stream educational, not just continuous

Organize lessons into a visible schedule: for example, a math topic, a worked example, a reading or writing lesson, a study interval, and a later review. Explain the concepts in your own words and use examples you have rights to show. Give viewers clear on-screen labels so someone joining midstream can tell what they are watching and where to find official practice material.

A channel built from one minimally changed loop risks falling short of YouTube’s monetization expectations. YouTube says content should be original and authentic; repetitive or mass-produced material may be ineligible. Related videos can still be eligible when their substance is materially varied and offers educational or creative value. These are policy criteria, not a guarantee that a particular channel will be accepted for monetization. Read the YouTube channel monetization policies.

Use College Board resources as links, not assumed broadcast material

Direct viewers to College Board’s official practice resources instead of assuming you can rebroadcast its questions. College Board’s permission guidance says the Official SAT Practice Test may be used by students in a noncommercial educational setting, but not in a test-prep course; it also says the Official SAT Study Guide and Teacher’s Guide may not be reproduced. SAT rules identify test, practice-test, question-bank, and Bluebook content as College Board or licensor property. Educational intent by itself does not establish permission to display or rebroadcast a question. Ask College Board for permission for the specific planned use.

Check the linked College Board pages for current access and use terms before adding any official material to your broadcast.

Clear rights for every part of the broadcast

You are responsible for having the necessary worldwide rights to material in your live content, including music. Check every element in the prerecorded program: lesson footage, music, images, worksheets, and test questions or answer explanations. A license or purchase should explicitly cover the intended livestream use and territories.

YouTube scans live streams for third-party content matches. A match can produce a warning, interrupt the stream, or terminate it. Even when you have a license, YouTube says the rights holder may need to allowlist your channel through Content ID to avoid interruptions. Review YouTube’s livestream terms and its live-stream copyright guidance before launch.

Set up and test the encoder stream

  1. Enable live streaming and open Live Control Room. Complete any channel eligibility steps YouTube presents. Use the encoder option for this prerecorded production.
  2. Create or schedule a test stream. In Live Control Room, choose a visibility setting before the stream begins; YouTube identifies public and unlisted options. Use unlisted if you want to test without making the broadcast generally discoverable.
  3. Copy the stream key into the encoder. Treat the key as a credential: do not put it in the video, description, or a public post. If it is exposed, replace it in YouTube’s live settings and update the encoder.
  4. Load the program and verify the composition. Check that lesson footage, slides, titles, and any overlays are readable and correctly framed in the encoder preview and YouTube’s stream preview.
  5. Start the encoder and confirm receipt in Live Control Room. Do not announce the continuous stream until YouTube shows that it is receiving the broadcast and the audio and picture are correct.
  6. Test transitions and the intended loop or playlist behavior. Let the program run through segment changes and any planned repeat point. Confirm how your encoder handles the end of a file, playlist completion, and a lost connection; YouTube’s general setup page does not specify these behaviors.
  7. End the test and fix issues before going public. Check the archived result if available, especially audio levels, black frames, slides, and transitions. Repeat the test after changing the encoder, media files, or broadcast arrangement.

YouTube recommends testing a live stream, but its general guidance does not supply a 24/7 playback recipe, automatic-restart strategy, or uptime guarantee. Verify unattended operation with the encoder’s current documentation and your own end-to-end test.

Operate the live stream and understand monetization

During a live broadcast, watch Live Control Room for stream status and policy notices. YouTube’s Live Control Room also has a “Take a Break” feature that can show an away screen for 1, 3, or 5 minutes. It is an operator break tool, not an automated all-day schedule.

If your channel is monetized and the stream is eligible, YouTube may offer ads, Super Chat, Super Stickers, or memberships in some cases. Ad slots are not guaranteed, so do not build a budget around a particular ad schedule or earnings level. Monetization eligibility is separate from permission to use College Board or other third-party material.

Troubleshoot common problems

Symptom Likely area to check What to do
YouTube is not receiving a signal Encoder connection, selected stream key, or the encoder’s stream destination Confirm the destination and key in the encoder against Live Control Room. If the key may have been exposed, replace it in YouTube and update the encoder.
Picture or audio is missing in the preview Media source selection, scene layout, or audio routing in the encoder Check the encoder preview and source settings, then restart a private or unlisted test and verify receipt in Live Control Room.
The program stops at the end of a video Playlist completion or end-of-file behavior Check the encoder’s current documentation for looping and playlist behavior. Test the transition through the end of the full program; YouTube’s general guidance does not define an encoder’s loop settings.
The stream is interrupted or terminated Possible third-party content match or other live-stream issue Review YouTube’s notice, identify the matched material, and remove or replace content you cannot use. For properly licensed third-party content, ask the rights holder whether channel allowlisting through Content ID is required.
A repeated program raises monetization concerns Insufficient original or varied educational substance Develop distinct lessons and examples with meaningful differences in substance and educational value; a cosmetic change to a repeated loop may not address the policy concern.
A College Board question appears in a lesson Permission for the specific display, course, and broadcast context Do not assume educational purpose grants rebroadcast rights. Remove it or obtain permission for the planned use; link viewers to official practice resources instead.

Or let it run in the cloud

If you want a prerecorded YouTube stream without leaving a computer running at home, StreamNeo runs uploaded videos from the cloud. Upload the recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; your upload streams as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot, and StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly service is $9.99 per month. For an SAT channel, the same rights and College Board permissions still apply: the cloud changes where playback runs, not what you are allowed to broadcast. Start the free day with StreamNeo.
