You can run recorded IELTS lessons continuously on YouTube Live by sending a prepared playlist through an encoder: a local streaming program, standalone hardware, or a cloud service. Create a YouTube stream, give the encoder its server URL and stream key, preview the feed, then start it. The two issues that need special planning are the reliability of a nonstop feed and YouTube’s archive limit: a 24-hour broadcast should have its own recording plan.
Choose how to keep the lessons streaming
YouTube accepts live video from an encoder. For prerecorded lessons, the encoder or service must also be able to play the lessons in a loop or schedule. YouTube does not prescribe a particular 24/7 setup, so choose based on how much you want to manage locally and what recording and recovery features you need.

Prepare the lessons and check the rights
Build a viewer-friendly sequence
Arrange lessons so viewers who arrive mid-stream can understand what they are watching. Use clear transitions, readable slides, consistent audio levels, and enough context at the start of each lesson. Test the full sequence, including the transition from the final item back to the first, in the encoder or service you plan to use.

Clear every item in the feed
Use only material you own or have permission to broadcast. Rights checks apply to lesson video, music and other audio, slides, test questions, and any embedded third-party content. YouTube says, “All live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content, including copyrighted content in the form of another live broadcast.” A detected match can cause YouTube to replace the stream with a placeholder, interrupt it, or terminate it. If you have a licence, the rights holder may still need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. See YouTube’s live-stream copyright guidance.
IELTS provides sample tasks and preparation resources that can help you plan lessons around test formats, timed practice, and reviewing model answers. Public access does not grant permission to rebroadcast them. IELTS states that its website materials are for personal, non-commercial use; commercial use or republication requires written permission. Plan Academic and General Training coverage
IELTS says Listening and Speaking are the same for Academic and General Training, while Reading and Writing differ. Label lessons clearly so learners can identify the test type they are preparing for. IELTS publishes General Training sample test questions as one planning reference; check the reuse terms before putting any official material on air.
Set up and start the YouTube Live stream
- Check channel readiness. You need a verified YouTube channel with no live-stream restrictions in the previous 90 days. First-time live-stream activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it ahead of your launch. See YouTube’s live streaming tips.
- Choose and configure your encoder. Prepare the lesson loop or schedule in your selected software, hardware, or cloud service. YouTube’s general setup guidance does not prescribe a bitrate, resolution, keyframe interval, or computer specification for this particular 24/7 prerecorded use case; follow the current requirements of your encoder and YouTube Live Control Room rather than assuming a universal setting.
- Create or schedule a stream. In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create or schedule the stream. Copy the server URL and stream key shown there into the encoder. YouTube’s instruction is: “To start streaming, enter your YouTube Live server URL and stream key into your encoder.” The key is a credential: do not publish or share it. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder. See YouTube’s encoder setup instructions.
- Preview before going live. Wait for the encoder feed to appear in Live Control Room. Check that the intended lesson is playing, the picture is readable, and audio is present and at a sensible level. Then start the stream and verify the watch page from your channel and on a mobile device.
- Monitor the broadcast. Check stream health, picture, sound, and the playback sequence. YouTube recommends testing the setup, monitoring stream quality, and checking a backup encoder failover. For a local setup, plan who can restart the computer or encoder and what happens if the connection drops.
Make a separate recording and archive plan
Do not assume YouTube will save a full 24-hour broadcast as one archive. YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, recommends keeping a local archive backup, and warns that streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. Because a 24/7 stream exceeds that threshold, arrange independent recording and storage before launch. Decide how recordings will be divided, where master files will be retained, and who will check that files are complete.

Troubleshoot common interruptions
- No preview appears in Live Control Room: Check that the encoder is running and that the server URL and stream key match the stream you created or scheduled. Confirm the channel is eligible for live streaming and that first-time activation has completed.
- The wrong lesson plays or the feed stops at the end: Check the playlist order, repeat or loop setting, and file availability in the encoder or service. Test the transition from the last lesson back to the first before relying on the schedule.
- Viewers report missing or uneven audio: Check the source files and encoder audio input, then listen in the preview and on the watch page. Normalize levels across lessons where needed.
- YouTube interrupts or replaces the stream: Review YouTube’s notice and identify any matched third-party material. Remove or replace content you lack rights to use; if licensed, ask the rights holder whether your channel must be added to its Content ID allowlist.
- The live broadcast is not available as a complete archive: A 24-hour stream may not be captured by YouTube’s automatic archiving. Use the independent recording plan rather than relying on the live-stream archive.
- The stream key may have been exposed: Reset or replace it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder with the new key. Treat the replacement as a password.
