Review an AI audio edit in the project timeline and listen to it in context before exporting. Save a recoverable project state first, use preview or planning controls when available, and treat Undo as a way to reverse changes covered by that editor’s history—not as a guarantee that an exported file or external action can be rolled back.
Make a recoverable copy before broad edits
Before asking an agent to change multiple clips, save the project or make a versioned copy using the editor’s supported workflow. Keep the source media too. This is a practical safeguard: undo histories and recovery features vary, and an edit that rewrites audio may not remain reversible after the session ends.
Do not assume that saving a project, creating a checkpoint, or using Undo protects files and actions outside that project. Check the editor’s documentation for what its recovery controls actually cover.
Preview the plan before changing the timeline
When the editor supports planning, use it to inspect the proposed work before allowing changes. In ElevenLabs Studio, the Studio Agent’s Plan mode outlines an approach without changing the timeline; Create mode can edit the timeline, insert clips, generate media, apply overlays, and adjust audio. Studio is documented as an AI co-editor for Studio Video projects, so these details should not be taken as universal behavior for other audio editors. See the ElevenLabs Studio documentation.

Before applying a plan, look for what will be added, removed, moved, or processed. If the agent’s proposed scope is unclear, narrow the request or ask it to describe the intended changes before it acts.
Inspect the edits and listen around them
After changes are applied, inspect the affected clips and tracks in the timeline, then play the result with the surrounding audio. Check transitions and edit boundaries as well as the isolated selection: a clip may sound acceptable alone but produce an abrupt cut, gap, overlap, or timing shift in context.

Pay particular attention to ripple edits. In Audacity, closing a gap can move the selected clip, later clips on the same track, or clips on all tracks, depending on the operation and scope. A timing change on one track can affect synchronization with others. Inspect the timeline and listen around the edit before accepting it. Audacity describes these options in its Edit menu documentation.
Choose reversible processing where practical
Audacity distinguishes destructive effects, which rewrite audio, from real-time effects and clip gain. Real-time effects and clip gain leave the recording alone and can be adjusted or removed later; a destructive effect is only undoable while the project remains open. For a change that may need tuning, a non-destructive option can preserve more flexibility. The right choice depends on the task and the editor’s available controls; see Audacity’s effect guidance.

- PLUG IN AND HEAR SOUND IN SECONDS - USB Type-A connector with a 3.5mm stereo headphone output and a separate 3.5mm mono microphone input. No drivers, no software, no external power - the adapter is USB bus-powered and is recognized as a standard USB audio device.
- WORKS ON WINDOWS, MAC AND LINUX - Driverless on Windows 98SE/ME/2000/XP/Server 2003/Vista/7/8, Linux and Mac OSX, and compliant with the USB Audio Device Class 1.0 specification, so any system that supports class-compliant USB audio will see it. Select it as the sound output and input device after plugging it in.
- TWO JACKS, TWO JOBS - The green jack is stereo OUT for headphones or powered speakers; the pink jack is mono microphone IN for a 3.5mm mic. It does NOT support 4-pole headsets on a single combo plug, it does NOT power passive speakers, and it does NOT add surround sound - it is a stereo 2-channel adapter.
- FOR LAPTOPS AND DESKTOPS THAT NEED AN AUDIO PORT BACK - Adds a headphone and mic port to a laptop, desktop, or mini PC whose onboard jack has failed or was never there. Managed and work-issued computers can block new USB audio devices by policy - check with your IT department before ordering for a company machine.
- SABRENT SUPPORT AND WARRANTY - What is in the box: one USB audio sound adapter. Backed by a 1-year limited warranty, extended to 2 years when you register within 90 days on the manufacturer's website.
This distinction also explains why “I can undo it” is not a sufficient recovery plan for every operation. Confirm whether a control changes playback settings or rewrites the underlying audio, and preserve a project state before applying broad or destructive processing.
Undo carefully, then verify the result
Audacity
Audacity’s Undo reverses the most recent edit, and repeated Undo commands step back through the current session’s history. Redo moves forward after an undo; making a new edit discards the undone steps. After undoing, inspect the timeline and play the affected passage to confirm that both the audio and timing are as expected. These controls are described in the Audacity Edit menu.

ElevenLabs Studio
ElevenLabs documents Undo and Redo for Studio changes. It also provides generation history for narration, but that history does not track imported media or video clips. A removed generation cannot be restored, so do not remove one on the assumption that generation history will always recover it. See the ElevenLabs Studio documentation.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Know what Undo does not cover
Undo is generally an edit-history control, not a universal rollback for every consequence of an agent’s work. An editor’s history may cover project changes without reversing an export that was shared, a file processed elsewhere, or another external action. Do not assume an exported file has been recalled or changed just because you undo an edit in the project.

Visual Studio Code’s agent documentation offers a general comparison, not an audio-editor feature: workspace checkpoints can restore affected files, but do not reverse terminal commands, network requests, deployments, or changes to external services. Its guidance illustrates why recovery scope must be checked in the specific product rather than inferred from the word “undo.” See Review and revert agent changes and Trust and safety for AI agents.
Export only after checking the current project
Before exporting, confirm that the timeline contains the intended clips, the edit boundaries sound right, and no unrelated tracks have shifted or changed. ElevenLabs says its exports render the current chapter or project, and a later export includes updated media. That describes the project’s export behavior; it does not establish that Undo reverses a file already shared or handled by another service.
