To change who can use your custom GPT, open it in the GPT editor, select Share, adjust its sharing level or permission, then select Save. If the GPT uses a connected app or an OAuth action, review and disconnect that account separately in ChatGPT settings: changing GPT sharing does not itself revoke the account authorization.

Change who can use the GPT

  1. Open the custom GPT in the GPT editor.

  2. Select Share and check its current sharing level and permission.

  3. Choose the intended access level, then select Save to apply the change, as described in OpenAI’s sharing and publishing instructions.

Depending on your account and workspace, sharing options can include invite-only, a workspace link, workspace-wide access, a public link, or GPT Store publication. To remove someone’s access to the GPT, change the sharing level or permission so that person is no longer covered. Options vary by account and workspace.

Revoke access to a connected app or account

GPT sharing determines who can open or use the GPT. A connected app account or an OAuth authorization for a GPT action is a separate connection. If your goal is to stop the GPT from accessing an external account, changing the GPT’s sharing level is not a substitute for disconnecting that account.

  1. Open ChatGPT Settings.

  2. Go to the connected-app or account-management area. OpenAI’s current help guidance describes Settings > Plugins; labels and placement may vary across surfaces and rollouts.

  3. Select the relevant app or connected account and review its controls. Disconnect it to remove its access. OpenAI’s connected-account instructions describe managing these connections.

OpenAI states that app permissions affect when ChatGPT asks before reading data or taking an action; changing those prompts does not itself remove access already granted. To remove an app’s access, disconnect it or ask your workspace administrator to disable it, as explained in Connected apps in ChatGPT.

Check OAuth actions separately

A GPT action connects to an API and may use OAuth or an API key for authentication. For an OAuth action, review and manage the connected account associated with that authorization; it is separate from the GPT’s sharing setting. OpenAI’s actions configuration guide describes action authentication.

In managed workspaces, an administrator may use an action-domain allowlist to restrict whether an action can execute. That restriction is not the same as revoking the user’s authorization with the external service. Apps and actions are distinct integration types, and a GPT can use one or the other, not both at the same time, according to OpenAI’s GPT overview.

If sharing or disconnect controls are missing

Business, Enterprise, and Edu workspace settings can limit sharing, publishing, app availability, or action use. Enterprise and Edu administrators can govern who creates or edits GPTs, the allowed sharing scope, and access to third-party GPTs. If a sharing option is absent or a change cannot be saved, contact the workspace administrator; the relevant policy may need to change. See OpenAI’s workspace GPT access guidance.

Settings labels and feature availability can differ by account, plan, region, and workspace configuration. Use the controls visible in your own ChatGPT settings, and ask your administrator if a managed account does not expose the option you need.
