Check YouTube Studio → Settings → Channel → Feature eligibility first. The fix depends on what YouTube shows: computer live streaming may only need phone verification; advanced features require phone verification plus sufficient channel history or identity verification if YouTube offers it; an active live-stream restriction requires its own appeal route. These are separate issues, and restoring advanced-feature access does not automatically clear a live-stream restriction.
How do I enable live streaming on YouTube?
- Sign in to YouTube Studio and open Settings → Channel → Feature eligibility.
- Check the status shown for live streaming and advanced features. Follow the next step displayed for the feature you need; YouTube notes that some features have separate eligibility requirements.
- If phone verification is incomplete, use the verification option in that workflow. YouTube sends a code by text message or voice call. If your number has already been used to verify two channels, you may need another number.
- After completing verification, check Feature eligibility again. Computer live streaming is an intermediate feature unlocked by phone verification; advanced access is a separate tier with a higher daily limit.
YouTube’s live-streaming guidance also says a channel must be verified and have had no live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days to stream. That condition is distinct from advanced-feature eligibility.
Why are advanced features disabled on my YouTube channel?
Phone verification alone does not grant advanced features. YouTube requires phone verification and either sufficient channel history or identity verification using a valid ID or video, if that option is offered for your account.
Build channel history
YouTube describes channel history as including activity such as video uploads, live streams, and audience engagement, along with Google Account signals such as when and how the account was created, how often it is used, and how it connects to Google services. YouTube does not publish a fixed number of days, uploads, or subscribers that guarantees enough history. Keep using the channel and account normally, then check Feature eligibility for changes.

Use ID or video verification, if available
This option is not offered to every creator, and only the primary channel owner can complete identity verification. YouTube says reviews usually take 24 hours. If a second verification attempt is unsuccessful, YouTube says you must wait 30 days before trying ID or video verification again; building channel history remains an alternative.
Maintain eligibility
YouTube says Community Guidelines noncompliance can delay eligibility or remove access already granted. Eligibility can therefore change; use the current Feature eligibility panel rather than assuming a previous status still applies.

Could a live-stream restriction be the separate problem?
Yes. YouTube lists possible causes including age-related requirements, copyright restrictions, and policy issues. It also says live streaming may be disabled for channels with a significant number of videos whose features are disabled. These are possible causes, not a diagnosis of an individual channel.
- Look for YouTube’s email notice about a live-stream or channel restriction, and check the channel for strikes.
- Read the notice and follow its appeal instructions if you believe the restriction was made in error.
- Do not try to stream through another channel while the restriction is active. YouTube treats that as circumvention and says it may result in account termination.
An appeal is for a restriction that actually exists; it does not replace phone verification, channel history, or identity verification when those are the issue.

Common problems and what to do
- “I verified my phone, but advanced features are still disabled.” Phone verification unlocks intermediate features; advanced access additionally requires channel history or identity verification where offered.
- “I have enough subscribers, so why can’t I stream?” The cited eligibility guidance does not establish a subscriber count as a substitute for phone verification, advanced-feature requirements, or resolving a restriction. Check the status and next action shown in Studio.
- “My ID or video verification failed twice.” YouTube says to wait 30 days before another attempt. You can instead continue building channel history.
- “I can use another channel while I appeal, right?” No. YouTube says using another channel to stream during an active restriction is circumvention.
