There is no documented reset command for Karia’s body shape in the information Gust has published so far. The official announcement confirms three controls: turning body-shape changes on allows snack intake to change her shape, turning them off prevents further changes, and a lock can hold a preferred shape. It does not say that turning the feature off restores Karia’s original appearance, moves her backward through shapes, or opens a default-shape selector.
If Karia has already changed and you want her back to the model she had at the start, the accurate answer is currently unknown. Do not rely on an unverified menu sequence, save reload, or setting toggle until Gust or Koei Tecmo publishes launch documentation that explicitly describes restoration.
What “restore the original shape” means
Players can mean several different things when they ask how to reset Karia:

- Return to the default model: make Karia look as she did before any body-shape changes.
- Choose a particular stage: select an earlier or later shape from a list or slider.
The published announcement answers the first two questions but not the last two. “Off” is described as a prevention setting. “Lock” is described as a way to hold a preferred shape. Neither description says that the current model is replaced immediately or that Karia is returned to her initial appearance.

What Gust has officially confirmed
Gust’s official announcement says that, when the feature is ON, Karia’s body shape changes depending on how much she eats during snacks. When it is OFF, her body shape does not change regardless of how much she eats. The same announcement says players can lock Karia at a preferred body shape even while changes remain ON, so further eating will not change that locked shape.
The announcement does not publish the name of a menu, the button used to activate the lock, the number of possible shapes, a slider, a reversal command, or a reset option. It also does not state whether a lock is represented by a save-file flag, a character setting, or another type of control.

How to keep Karia’s current shape from changing
If your real goal is to preserve the appearance Karia has now, the lock is the only persistence behavior explicitly confirmed. The announcement does not provide an exact menu path, so the following is a safe procedure rather than a claim about the final interface labels.
- Decide which appearance you want to keep. If Karia still has her starting appearance, choose it before allowing snack-driven changes. If she has already changed, inspect the current model and decide whether that is the one you want to retain.
- Leave body-shape changes available while locating the lock. Gust specifically says the lock can be used even with body-shape changes ON. Do not assume that switching the feature OFF is required to activate it.
- Use the lock control when it is exposed in the release build. The official announcement confirms that such a control exists, but it does not identify its menu location or button prompt. Look for a setting associated with Karia, body shape, appearance, or a preferred-shape lock in the game’s documented menus.
- Test the result with a later snack. With a lock active, further eating should not change the locked shape. If the model changes, record the game version, platform, save slot, and whether the lock indicator remained enabled before contacting official support.
A lock should be treated as a hold function, not as a rewind function. Nothing in the announcement says that activating it searches for Karia’s original model or replaces the current appearance.

Does turning body shape OFF undo a change?
There is no published evidence that it does. OFF prevents future snack-driven changes; it is not documented as an undo, reset, or “return to default” command. If Karia has already moved to another appearance, changing the setting to OFF should be understood only as stopping additional movement until more official documentation says otherwise.
This distinction matters because a prevention setting and a restoration setting act at different points in the system:
- A prevention setting changes what future snacks are allowed to do.
- A restoration setting would need to alter the appearance Karia already has.
- The announcement describes the first behavior and does not describe the second.
Therefore, use OFF when you want Karia’s current model to remain unaffected by snacks and when you do not need the body-shape system to progress. Do not use OFF expecting the game to calculate a path back to the starting model.
Can you lock Karia at her default shape?
That depends on whether Karia is still displaying the default appearance when you activate the lock. Gust says players can lock Karia at a preferred body shape, but it does not say that the lock includes a separate “default” choice or that it can switch models.

- If Karia is still at the default: the confirmed lock behavior indicates that you should be able to hold that preferred appearance once the lock control is available.
- If Karia has already changed: locking the current model is the only behavior established. There is no documented command that changes it back first.
- If a launch menu offers a named default or original option: that would be new, version-specific documentation and should take precedence over the pre-release information summarized here.
What is not established yet
Several commonly assumed solutions remain unverified because the official announcement does not mention them:

Siliconera’s 2026 coverage of the Atelier survey reports that the chosen model appears during story scenes, standard exploration, alchemy synthesis, and combat. That report is secondary coverage, not additional wording from Gust’s announcement, so treat it as context rather than as a guarantee about every final build or mode.
If the release version displays different models in one of those situations, first check whether the game is showing a temporary scene-specific animation, a cutscene asset, or an interface preview. The announcement does not explain exceptions or presentation rules, and it does not say that the lock changes every visual asset at once.

A practical decision guide
You want to keep the shape Karia has now
Use the confirmed lock behavior when the control is available. If you cannot find it, switch body-shape changes OFF to prevent further snack-driven movement, then consult the launch manual or in-game help for the lock’s location. OFF protects the current state from future snack effects but does not promise to repair an already changed appearance.
You want Karia’s starting appearance and she has not changed yet
Avoid snacks that would move the feature while body-shape changes are ON, and activate the lock on the starting appearance if the release interface provides it. Because no exact button path has been published, do not infer one from screenshots, previews, or unrelated Atelier settings.
You want the starting appearance and Karia has already changed
There is no documented procedure to perform today. You can prevent additional changes with OFF or preserve the current model with the lock, but neither action is confirmed to restore the original. Wait for a launch manual, an official FAQ, or a patch note that explicitly names a reset or default-shape command.

Keep body-shape changes ON and observe how snack amounts affect Karia. If you reach an appearance you prefer, lock it before continuing to feed her. Record which save and platform you are using so that an unintended change can be reported accurately if the release build behaves differently from the published description.

Release timing and why the answer may change
The feature information is pre-release. 2026 announcement coverage reports Atelier Karia: The Night Kingdom & the Guide of Memories for February 25, 2027, on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Final controls can be clarified by the launch manual, an in-game help page, or a subsequent update.
Final Weapon has reported that the Nintendo physical edition is a Game-Key Card release and that a Premium Box preorder is listed through the NIS America store. Those distribution details do not establish anything about body-shape controls, but they can help distinguish a launch-version question from an early preview or a different platform build.
Because the game is unreleased at the time of the announcement, an online post claiming a precise reset sequence may be describing speculation, a later undocumented build, or a different Atelier title. Check that any instructions identify Karia’s game, the platform, and the version number.

- Open the current version’s help or manual. Search for “body shape,” “shape change,” “lock,” “preferred shape,” “default,” and “reset.”
- Check the settings before feeding Karia. Confirm whether ON and OFF are global settings, save-specific settings, or character-specific options; the pre-release announcement does not say.
- Test the lock on a controlled save. Make a save before a snack, activate the lock, and observe whether a later snack leaves the model unchanged.
- Look for an explicit default or original command. Only a documented option that names restoration should be treated as proof that Karia can be returned to her starting model.
- Record version and platform details. The same feature could receive a different label or correction in a launch update, and support staff will need those details.
- Use official support if the documented behavior fails. Include the setting state, lock state, snack sequence, save slot, platform, and software version instead of relying on a screenshot alone.
Bottom line on the reset question
As of the latest official announcement, Atelier Karia documents change, prevention, and locking—not restoration. Turn body-shape changes OFF to stop future snack effects, or use the lock to hold a preferred current shape. If you need Karia’s original body shape after it has already changed, the correct answer remains that no reset procedure has been published yet.
