Lenovo is a Hong Kong-listed technology company whose investment case depends on more than PC sales. The company generated US$83.1 billion in FY2025/26 revenue, up 20% year on year, while adjusted net income rose 42% to US$2 billion. Its growth now combines personal devices, servers and other infrastructure, and a services business, with AI-related revenue doubling to 33% of group revenue. Those figures are Lenovo-reported results, not a guarantee that the shares will rise. A sound decision requires checking how much of the growth converts into reported profit and cash, and how tariffs, export controls, supply costs and geopolitics could change the outcome.
What Lenovo is and how investors can buy exposure
Lenovo Group Limited is a technology company listed in Hong Kong under stock code 992. Its American depositary receipt trades under ticker LNVGY. The group sells personal computers, workstations, smartphones, tablets, accessories, infrastructure hardware, software, solutions and services. That breadth means Lenovo should be analyzed as a portfolio of businesses rather than as a pure PC manufacturer.
The first step is to identify the security, exchange, currency and reporting period you are analyzing. A Hong Kong share and an ADR represent exposure to the same company but can have different trading hours, liquidity, fees, currency effects and custody arrangements. Confirm the listing details with your broker and read Lenovo’s own annual and quarterly releases for the relevant fiscal year before using a price, valuation multiple or dividend figure.
Lenovo’s recent financial baseline
The following figures come from Lenovo’s reported fiscal-year and quarterly results. Lenovo uses non-HKFRS or adjusted measures in addition to statutory figures, so do not put them in the same column without labeling the definition.

| Period | Revenue | Revenue growth | Profit measure | Profit growth or note |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| FY2024/25 | US$69.1 billion | 21% year on year | Non-HKFRS net income: US$1.4 billion | Up 36% year on year |
| FY2025/26 | US$83.1 billion | 20% year on year | Adjusted net income: US$2 billion | Up 42% year on year |
| Q1 FY2026/27 | US$26.943 billion | Quarterly figure; the supplied results do not state a year-on-year percentage here | Adjusted profit attributable to equity holders: US$1.075 billion; reported operating profit: US$19 million | These are different measures and should not be treated as interchangeable |
On the company-reported figures, FY2025/26 revenue was approximately US$14 billion higher than FY2024/25. The reported 20% and 21% growth rates are Lenovo’s year-on-year figures for each fiscal year; they are not a forecast for the next year. FY2025/26 adjusted net income grew faster than revenue, which can indicate operating leverage, a favorable mix or adjustments that need closer examination.
How Lenovo makes money
Lenovo groups its operations into three main businesses. Segment revenue helps you see where growth is coming from and whether the company is becoming more dependent on capital-intensive infrastructure.
| Segment | FY2025/26 revenue | What to examine |
|---|---|---|
| Intelligent Devices Group (IDG) | US$58.9 billion | PCs, tablets, smartphones, workstations and related devices; track unit demand, average selling prices, component costs and geographic mix |
| Infrastructure Solutions Group (ISG) | US$19.2 billion | Servers and other infrastructure; examine backlog, utilization by customers, gross margin and the cost of accelerated AI deployment |
| Solutions and Services Group (SSG) | More than US$10 billion | Recurring or repeatable services, solutions and support; examine renewal rates, attach rates, margin and cash conversion |
IDG represented roughly seven-tenths of FY2025/26 group revenue when the segment figure is divided by the US$83.1 billion total. ISG represented roughly one-quarter. SSG exceeded US$10 billion, so its precise share cannot be calculated from the stated figures. These are arithmetic indications, not Lenovo’s reported segment percentages.
Why the segment mix matters
A device sale generally produces revenue when a product ships, while a support or managed-service contract can produce revenue over a longer period. Infrastructure projects may be larger but can require more working capital, specialized components and installation capacity. Compare segment revenue growth with each segment’s operating profit, margin and cash generation; group revenue alone can conceal a weak or loss-making business.
What the growth numbers really show
FY2024/25 to FY2025/26
Lenovo reported revenue of US$69.1 billion in FY2024/25 and US$83.1 billion in FY2025/26. The company described the latest increase as 20% year on year. Adjusted or non-HKFRS net income increased from US$1.4 billion to US$2 billion across the same reported periods, with Lenovo stating 36% growth in FY2024/25 and 42% growth in FY2025/26. Because the profit labels are both adjusted but not necessarily identical in every accounting detail, read the reconciliation in each year’s release before building a long-term series.
Infrastructure acceleration
In FY2024/25, ISG revenue rose 63% to US$14.5 billion. In FY2025/26, ISG revenue was US$19.2 billion. The earlier 63% increase demonstrates the speed of the infrastructure opportunity, but it does not prove that every dollar of AI infrastructure revenue is highly profitable. Investors should ask whether pricing, component availability, customer concentration and deployment costs allow that growth to produce sustainable operating profit.

Services as a stabilizer
SSG revenue exceeded US$10 billion in FY2025/26. A services business can make revenue less dependent on a single device replacement cycle, but the quality of that revenue depends on contract duration, renewals, implementation costs and the margin after employee and delivery expenses. Request segment operating-profit and cash-flow information rather than assuming that a larger services line automatically improves resilience.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsHow to assess Lenovo’s AI opportunity
Lenovo says AI-related revenue doubled year on year in FY2025/26 and reached 33% of group revenue. The company describes its strategy as “Hybrid AI,” spanning personal and enterprise AI. Chairman and CEO Yuanqing Yang wrote: “I believe Lenovo is well positioned to seize the AI democratization opportunity to deliver growth and create value for our shareholders.”
That 33% figure is a company-defined revenue category. It does not, by itself, disclose AI gross margin, operating margin, cash return or the amount of research and development required. Treat it as an indicator of exposure, then test the economics with these questions:
- Which products and services are counted as AI-related, and has the definition changed?
- How much of the revenue comes from higher-priced PCs and workstations versus infrastructure projects?
- Are AI systems sold with recurring software, support or managed services?
- What are the delivery lead times, component commitments and customer concentration for AI infrastructure?
- Does AI growth increase reported operating profit and free cash flow, or mainly adjusted measures?
- How much additional research and development, inventory and working capital is needed to maintain the growth rate?
Management has also stated a US$100 billion ambition. Treat that as a management target, not an independent forecast. A target becomes more useful when you compare it with annual revenue, the segment mix needed to reach it, required capital investment and the profitability that management expects at that scale.
Reported profit versus adjusted profit
Lenovo’s figures illustrate why definitions matter. FY2025/26 adjusted net income was US$2 billion. In Q1 FY2026/27, Lenovo reported adjusted profit attributable to equity holders of US$1.075 billion but reported operating profit of US$19 million. Net income attributable to equity holders and operating profit are different points in the income statement, and an adjusted figure can exclude specified items. They cannot be compared as though they were the same metric.
When reading a release, build a reconciliation with four columns:

- Security & OS: TPM 2.0 | Fingerprint Reader (Power Button) | IR Facial Recognition | Windows 11 Pro. Backlit English EU Keyboard | Thin 16" Black Chassis | Ideal for Business, Education, Hybrid Work
- Reported operating profit: the statutory operating result for the period.
- Reported profit attributable to equity holders: the amount attributable to shareholders under the stated accounting basis.
- Adjusted or non-HKFRS profit: Lenovo’s result after its disclosed adjustments.
- Adjustment items: the exact charges or gains removed, their cash or non-cash nature, and whether they recur.
If adjusted earnings rise while reported operating profit remains thin, investigate the bridge before assigning a higher valuation. One quarter can be affected by seasonality or timing, but a persistent gap may signal that headline adjusted growth is not translating into durable statutory profitability.
Risks Lenovo investors need to test
Lenovo’s annual-report risk discussion identifies several exposures. The practical question is not whether any single risk exists, but how several could occur at the same time and affect revenue, margins, delivery or market access.
Macroeconomic and demand risk
Economic weakness can delay PC, smartphone and enterprise-hardware purchases. A downturn may increase promotions, lower average selling prices and leave distributors with excess inventory. Separate unit growth from revenue growth and check whether higher revenue is being purchased with discounts.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Geopolitical, tariff and export-control risk
Geopolitical tensions, tariffs and export controls can restrict where Lenovo may sell particular products, which components it can source and how it routes production. Tariffs can raise landed costs; export rules can limit access to advanced technology or customers. Map revenue, manufacturing and key suppliers by jurisdiction rather than treating “global” breadth as automatic diversification.
Supply shortages and component inflation
Lenovo’s FY2025/26 results release said it was navigating “supply shortages and rising component costs.” Shortages can delay shipments, while higher component prices can compress gross margin if contracts or competitive pressure prevent immediate price increases. Compare inventory, purchase commitments, delivery timing and segment margins across reporting periods.
Supplier concentration and operational disruption
Concentrated suppliers, natural disasters and logistics interruptions can stop production or increase freight and substitution costs. A useful diligence question is whether Lenovo has qualified alternatives for critical components and how quickly it can shift production without sacrificing quality or margin.

Cybersecurity and data localization
Cyberattacks can interrupt operations, expose customer data and trigger remediation or regulatory costs. Data-localization mandates can require country-specific infrastructure, processes or storage. For services and enterprise AI, examine security controls, incident disclosures and the cost of meeting different jurisdictions’ requirements.

ESG and labor issues in the supply chain
Environmental, labor or human-rights problems among suppliers can cause legal, customer and reputational damage. Review Lenovo’s supplier standards, audit coverage and remediation disclosures, and consider whether a disruption could affect a major customer contract.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.A step-by-step Lenovo investment-research process
- Define the security and period. Record whether you are analyzing Hong Kong stock 992 or ADR LNVGY, the currency, the fiscal year and the date of the market price.
- Collect the primary filings. Start with the latest annual report, results release and quarterly update. Keep statutory and adjusted figures in separate worksheets.
- Build a five-year trend where data is available. Enter revenue, reported operating profit, reported net income, adjusted or non-HKFRS net income, operating cash flow, capital expenditure, debt and share count. Do not fill an unavailable cell with an estimate; mark it as not stated and locate the definition in the filing.
- Split the business by segment. Track IDG, ISG and SSG revenue and operating profit. Note the portion of growth attributable to AI-related products and the definition Lenovo uses for that category.
- Test earnings quality. Reconcile adjusted profit to reported profit, identify each adjustment and compare profit with operating cash flow. Check whether working-capital movements or inventory build-up explain a divergence.
- Stress the operating model. Model lower PC demand, higher component prices, a tariff or export-control shock, and slower AI infrastructure growth. Use assumptions you can change rather than a single precise forecast.
- Review capital allocation. Examine dividends, buybacks, debt maturities, convertible-bond or dilution exposure, acquisitions and research-and-development spending. The supplied company figures do not establish a current dividend amount or leverage ratio, so obtain those from the latest filing.
- Compare valuation on matching definitions. Use enterprise value to operating profit or cash flow where appropriate, and price-to-earnings only when the earnings measure is clearly defined. Compare Lenovo with global PC, server, infrastructure and services companies while adjusting for different fiscal years and accounting treatments.
- Write a falsifiable thesis. State the growth, margin and cash-flow conditions that must occur, then list the evidence that would disprove the thesis.
How to compare Lenovo with alternatives
A useful comparison is a scorecard, not a single “best stock” ranking.
| Comparison axis | Questions to answer for Lenovo and each alternative |
|---|---|
| Revenue and geography | What is the growth rate, and how diversified are customers, manufacturing and end markets? |
| Profit quality | What are reported and adjusted operating profit and net income, and how large is the reconciliation? |
| Business mix | How much comes from PCs, smartphones, infrastructure and services, and which segments generate cash? |
| AI economics | What share is AI-related, what margins are disclosed, and how much additional research and development and capital are required? |
| Balance sheet and shareholder returns | What are cash flow, leverage, dilution or convertible-bond exposure and dividend policy? |
| Risk sensitivity | How would tariffs, export controls, component prices, supplier concentration, cyber events or ESG issues affect results? |
| Valuation | Are the multiples based on comparable periods and the same reported or adjusted definitions? |
Do not compare a fast-growing infrastructure company with a mature device company solely on price-to-earnings. Match the valuation method to the economics and adjust for cyclicality, capital intensity and the reliability of cash conversion.
Questions that should change your conclusion
Evidence supporting a constructive view
- Revenue growth remains broad across devices, infrastructure and services rather than being concentrated in one temporary product cycle.
- AI-related revenue continues to grow while reported operating profit and operating cash flow improve alongside adjusted earnings.
- Component inflation and supply shortages are absorbed without a lasting margin decline.
- Services renewals and infrastructure demand provide visibility that offsets weaker consumer-device demand.
Evidence supporting caution
- AI revenue doubles but produces little reported profit or cash after delivery and research costs.
- The gap between adjusted and reported results widens or relies on recurring “one-time” adjustments.
- Tariffs, export controls or data-localization rules remove important markets or raise costs faster than Lenovo can reprice.
- Supplier concentration, cyber incidents or inventory accumulation causes repeated delivery delays and write-downs.
- Management’s US$100 billion ambition requires capital, leverage or dilution that is not reflected in the valuation.
Practical conclusion for a prospective investor
Lenovo offers a credible growth story built on scale: US$83.1 billion of FY2025/26 revenue, 20% year-on-year growth, US$2 billion of adjusted net income, a US$19.2 billion infrastructure business and AI-related revenue equal to 33% of group revenue. The same numbers also demand discipline. Infrastructure and AI growth can be capital-intensive, component costs are rising, and Q1 FY2026/27’s US$1.075 billion adjusted attributable profit sits beside just US$19 million of reported operating profit under a different measure.
Before investing, verify the latest price and valuation, then work through the segment margins, reported-to-adjusted reconciliation, cash flow, capital structure and risk exposures. Lenovo may suit an investor who accepts hardware cyclicality and geopolitical complexity in exchange for exposure to devices, enterprise infrastructure and services. It is not possible to call the shares attractive from revenue growth alone; the deciding evidence is whether that growth becomes repeatable reported earnings and cash at a valuation that compensates for the risks.
