Clear Chapter 1–Lesson 5, complete the tutorial 10x summon, collect every available Gift Box reward, and spend the resulting tickets or Phantasm Gems. If the pulls are poor, return to the title screen, open Menu, select Delete Account, confirm the prompts, and begin again. On later attempts, use the Skip prompt when it appears. A practical stopping point is two strong SS-rank characters with different roles or elements, plus the free yellow tank Rose Oriana.
What rerolling accomplishes
Rerolling creates a new starting account until the opening summons produce a roster strong enough for the story and early competitive content. In The Eminence in Shadow: Master of Garden, the useful opening decision is not simply “how many SS characters did I get?” A team with several attackers but no durable front line or support can perform worse than a smaller roster with role and elemental coverage.
The Apple App Store describes the game as an online fantasy RPG in which players can “Build your dream party using any character from The Eminence in Shadow!” Its story includes material from the light novels. Because summons, events and character pools change, treat every reroll list as a dated guide rather than a permanent ranking.
Reroll procedure: exact steps
1. Play through Chapter 1–Lesson 5
Start a new account and progress through the opening lessons. Summons become available after you clear Chapter 1–Lesson 5. Do not judge the account before that point because the relevant summon and reward systems are still locked.

2. Finish the tutorial 10x summon
Complete the guaranteed tutorial sequence and perform the tutorial 10x summon. Record the SS-rank characters you receive, but wait to make your final decision until you have collected the additional launch rewards.
3. Claim Gift Box rewards
Open the in-game Gift Box and claim every reward currently available. The contents and timing of these gifts can vary by region, campaign and date. The reroll loop uses the tickets or Phantasm Gems supplied by those rewards, so spending them before checking the Gift Box can leave you evaluating an incomplete account.
4. Spend the extra tickets or Phantasm Gems
Use the available currency on the banners shown in your account. Read each banner’s details first: the featured units, whether the banner is limited, its end date, and the stated summon rules. A character recommended for a permanent pool may be less useful to chase than a stronger limited, Shadow Festival, demonic or collaboration unit that is actually available on your server today.

Count your SS units by role and element, then compare them with the keep criteria below. A single headline character is not automatically better than two compatible SS units. Also account for the free Rose’s Retaliation: Rose Oriana, described as a strong yellow tank. Since Rose supplies a front-line option, a reroll that already has her available does not need to spend every attempt chasing a second tank.

6. Delete an unsatisfactory account
If the account does not meet your stopping rule, return to the title screen. Open the title-screen Menu, choose Delete Account, and confirm each prompt. Start the opening sequence again. On subsequent runs, accept the Skip prompt when it appears so you do not replay the opening tutorial in full.
Before confirming deletion, make sure you are acting on the new reroll account rather than an account you intend to keep. The menu wording and confirmation screens are the authoritative controls; do not assume that uninstalling the app alone performs the same reset.
How to decide whether a roll is good
Use role coverage, not SS count alone
A useful early-game template is one tank, three attackers and one support. It is not a mandatory formation, but it prevents the common mistake of keeping five damage dealers who cannot survive difficult stages or recover from damage. A practical opening account normally has:

- At least one reliable tank to absorb attacks and protect the back line.
- Several attackers, preferably with different targeting patterns or elements.
- One support or healer for recovery, buffs or other utility.
- A second front-line option when it covers an elemental disadvantage or a different mode.
BlueStacks’ SS-focused analysis specifically highlights Young Researcher: Sherry Barnett as a healer, Fifth Member: Epsilon as a high-damage attacker, First of the Seven: Alpha as a self-healing tank, Innate Sword: Iris Midgar as a multi-target damage dealer, and Idolized Swordplay: Alexia Midgar as a damage unit with utility healing. Those observations are based on PvP usage trends, so use them as supporting evidence rather than universal guarantees.
Check elemental matchups
The documented advantage cycle is:

Elemental advantage matters when a stage repeatedly attacks with or resists a particular color. A second tank is especially valuable if your primary tank is weak to the element used by a difficult enemy. White units are more flexible in the documented chart because they have no listed advantage or disadvantage.
Set a stopping rule before you summon
For most new players, stop at two strong SS-rank units with useful role or element coverage, provided the account also has access to Rose Oriana as a tank. Continuing to chase a perfect opening roster can consume substantial time without being necessary for early story progression. A third SS is worth the extra attempts when it fills a missing role, supplies a needed element, or is a clearly superior limited unit on the live banner; it is less compelling when it duplicates an attacker you already have.
Characters commonly worth keeping
The following names come from the reroll target list and current tier-list commentary. “Best” is not an objective in-game statistic: Pocket Gamer’s rankings were editorial opinions crawled on October 20, 2026, and MrGuider explicitly says its rankings are subjective and may change with updates.

Is First Member: Alpha still the best reroll target?
As of the Pocket Gamer list crawled October 20, 2026, First Member: Alpha is the publication’s top recommendation and is described as substantially ahead of the rest. That makes her an excellent target when she appears in the banner pool available to your account. It does not mean every Alpha-only roll is automatically superior: a roster containing Alpha but no tank or support can be awkward, while two complementary SS units may clear more content with fewer attempts.
Use Alpha as a priority target, then apply the role and element test. For example, Alpha plus Sherry gives you a yellow attacker and green healer; Alpha plus a tank gives immediate damage and front-line coverage. Alpha plus several yellow attackers is less attractive if the banner offers no way to handle stages where Green enemies punish Yellow units.
When newer or limited units change the answer
MrGuider’s September 3, 2026 list separates PvE and PvP and rates Shadow of Beginning: Shadow, Demonic Seventh: Eta, Demonic Fifth: Epsilon and Dashing President: Gamma as PvE Tier 0 tanks. This illustrates why older reroll advice can become stale: a newer demonic or limited unit may outperform a permanent character while its banner is active.
Before deleting an account, inspect the live banner rather than relying on a static tier list. Check:

- Whether the character is actually summonable in your region and current edition.
- How long the banner remains available.
- Whether the unit is limited, collaboration-only, Shadow Festival, demonic or part of the permanent pool.
- Whether the unit’s listed role fills a gap in your account.
- Whether the tier list is discussing PvE, PvP or both.
Banner contents, event schedules, releases and rankings can change quickly. Recheck the in-game banner details when this guide is more than 14 days old, especially after a major update.
Two SS units or one limited unit?
Choose the two-unit account when the limited character does not solve a roster problem and the second SS unit gives you a tank, healer or useful elemental matchup. Early progression benefits from a functional party more than from an isolated damage ceiling.
Choose the single limited unit when all of the following are true:
- The unit is currently available and its banner rules are clear.
- Its role is unusually difficult to replace or it is rated at the top for the mode you care about.
- Your remaining roster, including Rose Oriana, still has enough front-line and support coverage.
- You are willing to spend additional reroll time for a lower-probability outcome without a published success-rate estimate.
No suitable named source establishes an average reroll time, summon probability, success percentage or reroll rate. Do not treat online claims about those numbers as established facts unless the game itself publishes the relevant rates in your banner details.
Common reroll mistakes and fixes
The summon menu is missing
Confirm that Chapter 1–Lesson 5 is cleared. Summons are not available before that progression gate, so deleting the account early only repeats work without reaching the evaluation point.

You forgot the Gift Box
Return to the Gift Box before deciding. Tickets and Phantasm Gems from available rewards are part of the opening account’s value. Claim them, summon on the current banner, and then reassess role and element coverage.
You keep rerolling for a second tank
Check whether Rose’s Retaliation: Rose Oriana is already provided to the account. Because she is described as a strong yellow tank, another tank is most valuable when it supplies a different element or meaningfully improves the mode you intend to play.
You are replaying the entire tutorial every time
After the first run, use the Skip prompt when it appears. The documented reroll flow is designed to avoid replaying the opening sequence on each attempt.

Re-evaluate the team by role. Add a tank and support, or use a second tank with a better elemental matchup, instead of measuring the account by attacker count alone.

A tier list disagrees with your banner
Check its publication date, game mode and assumptions. Pocket Gamer’s Alpha recommendation, MrGuider’s PvE-focused demonic tank rankings and BlueStacks’ PvP-usage observations answer different questions. The in-game banner and your intended mode take priority.
A practical keep-or-delete checklist
- Did you clear Chapter 1–Lesson 5 and unlock Summons?
- Did you complete the tutorial 10x summon?
- Did you claim all currently available Gift Box rewards?
- Did you spend the resulting tickets or Phantasm Gems?
- Do you have at least two strong SS-rank units?
- Does the roster include a tank, attackers and support rather than damage dealers only?
- Do the units cover more than one useful element?
- Did you account for the free Rose Oriana tank?
- Did you inspect the live banner for limited, demonic, Shadow Festival or collaboration units?
- If the account fails the test, did you use title-screen Menu → Delete Account and confirm the prompts before starting again?
If the answer to the first eight questions is yes, keep the account unless the current banner offers a genuinely exceptional limited target that you specifically want. The goal is a flexible starting party, not an impossible-to-prove perfect roll.
