To report an inaccurate, biased, or otherwise harmful Google AI Overview, open the overview in Google Search, select Bad overview (the thumbs-down control), choose Report a problem, select a category, add details, and submit. For a request based on a legal ground or Google policy, use Google’s separate legal reporting form instead; ordinary feedback is not a legal notice.
Report an AI Overview through Google Search
- Run the search again and find the AI Overview you want to report.
- Under the overview, select the thumbs-down Bad overview control. If it is not visible, check the overview’s three-dot menu at the top right or expand the overview. Google documents both feedback entry points in its AI Overviews Search Help.
- Choose Report a problem, then select the category that best describes the issue.
- Explain the problem in the text field and submit the report.
Google says its feedback form can be used for inaccurate, biased, unhelpful, or otherwise problematic overviews. It also says a submission includes your most recent search query and its Search results.
What to include in the explanation
- Identify the exact statement that is wrong or harmful; quote it or transcribe it accurately.
- Explain what is incorrect, misleading, or missing, and why.
- Where possible, state a concise correction and point to reliable supporting information.
- Include only information needed to explain the issue; avoid private or confidential details.
Do not assume the feedback form lets you attach screenshots or documents; Google’s published instructions do not establish that option. If the issue is important, keep your own record of the query, date, overview wording, and any visible cited sources.
Choose the right reporting route
Use the in-product feedback flow to flag a problematic answer. Use Google Legal Help when you are asking for restriction or removal on a legal or Google content-policy ground.

What to know about legal and policy reports
Google Legal Help lists separate policy and legal reason paths, including categories such as defamation and intellectual property matters. Choose only a ground that genuinely applies; an upsetting or inaccurate answer is not automatically unlawful or defamatory. This is procedural information, not a legal assessment of a particular overview.
Google says applicable legal standards can vary by country or region. It typically restricts access in locations where content is deemed illegal; when content violates its content or product policies or Terms of Service, it typically may restrict or remove access globally. Google also says to file a separate report for each Google product where the content appears. A report submitted for an AI Overview in Search does not necessarily cover the same material on another Google product.

What happens after you submit feedback?
Google’s Search Help says AI Overviews “can and will make mistakes” and provides a feedback route, but does not promise a review timeline, a specific change to an overview, removal, or direct contact in response to an individual submission. A website owner also has no direct control in these reporting instructions to edit Google’s generated overview.
