Yes—completed Modern Warfare 4 missions are reported as replayable from Mission Select, but the game’s official documentation does not currently explain the feature or its save behavior. After finishing the campaign, look for Mission Select, Chapters or Replay under Campaign. Check the warning screen and your save, collectible and reward counters before confirming a replay.
For the major documented choice sequence, Following Orders is the mission to replay. Its decisions change the immediate cutscene, your character’s fate, trophy eligibility and collectible access. The available guides report no effect on later missions, so replaying is primarily a way to see alternate scenes, earn trophies, collect every item and claim mission rewards.
Can you replay completed Modern Warfare 4 missions?
A 17 October 2026 KeenGamer campaign walkthrough lists 16 missions and says completed missions remain replayable from the Mission Select menu. It also says completing each mission unlocks one Multiplayer/DMZ reward.

When the campaign is complete, return to the Campaign screen and look for one of these labels:
- Mission Select
- Chapters
- Replay
- Continue, followed by a mission list or chapter picker
If none appears, finish the current mission, return to the title screen, and check the Campaign menus again. Do not assume that restarting from a checkpoint is the same as selecting a completed mission.

How to replay a mission without risking the wrong save
Because official documentation does not state whether replay creates a separate slot, use this cautious procedure:
- Finish or exit the current activity cleanly. Reach the post-mission results screen or the main menu before opening the mission list.
- Record your current progress. Note the campaign mission, collectibles, trophy progress and unlocked rewards. On platforms that support cloud or removable-backup saves, make a backup only if you understand how that platform restores saves.
- Open the campaign replay menu. Choose Mission Select, Chapters or Replay. If the game offers both checkpoint restart and mission selection, choose the latter for a complete alternate run.
- Read every confirmation message. Look for wording about replacing a checkpoint, changing the active save, resetting collectibles or updating mission completion. The game has not publicly documented a universal rule, so do not skip this screen.
- Replay and finish the mission. Partial progress may not register as a completed alternate outcome. Reach the next cutscene or the results screen before quitting.
- Verify the result. Check the trophy list, notes and contraband counters, and the Multiplayer/DMZ reward tracker after returning to the menu.
Do not promise yourself that replaying is isolated from the main campaign. No official source reviewed for this guide confirms a separate replay save, and no source explains whether a replay can replace the active checkpoint.

Why Following Orders is the key mission for alternate outcomes
Following Orders is mission 3. You play as a North Korean soldier searching village homes for a defector. The mission header lists four notes, four contraband items, a Double XP Token reward and two trophies.
The mission is mostly linear: its choices alter scenes inside the mission rather than opening separate story campaigns. The documented differences are immediate scene changes, whether your character survives, access to one note and eligibility for the No Harm Done and No Stone Unturned trophies.
Following Orders: every decision and its result
1. Interrogate the husband in the first house
Search the house before choosing a response. You can use evidence or contraband to question the husband, threaten him, or shoot him.
- Talk using evidence or contraband: He reveals the defector’s location without anyone being hurt. This is the recommended route for a nonviolent trophy run.
- Threaten: He gives the same abandoned-house location. The documented guide says civilians are not physically harmed on this route, but it recommends finding evidence and choosing talk for the safest No Harm Done attempt.
- Shoot him: He gives up the location after being wounded. This forfeits No Harm Done.
All three choices converge on the abandoned house. The first decision therefore changes the scene and trophy eligibility, not the next mission objective.
2. Decide what to do at the barrel
At the barrel scene, you can pull the soldier away and let the villager go, leave the abuse in progress, or shoot the villager yourself. The documented walkthrough found no lasting effect from any of the three options: Ko still sends you to the abandoned house.
3. Search the woman hidden beneath the kitchen
This is the decision with the largest immediate consequence.

- Bring her outside: She joins the other villagers. This is required for your character to survive the later execution scene and allows access to the final cellar note needed for No Stone Unturned.
- Leave her hidden: Soldiers discover her. Ri decides that you failed to search or lied, and your character is hanged beside the defector. This is an alternate ending cutscene, not a mission failure.
The available guides report no effect beyond Following Orders. Leaving her hidden is therefore the route to the distinct hanging scene, while bringing her outside is the route for survival and the cellar collectible.
4. Choose what happens at the gallows
- Execute the defector: The defector is hanged and your character lives if the woman was previously brought outside.
- Refuse: Ri kills your character, and the defector is hanged anyway. The mission proceeds into the next cutscene. No trophy or later-mission effect is reported for refusing.
The gallows decision does not create a branching campaign. It determines which version of the ending scene you watch and whether your character survives that scene.
Following Orders outcome comparison
| Route | Immediate scene | Character survives? | Trophy and collectible impact | Later-mission change reported? |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Evidence-based talk; bring woman outside; execute | Husband reveals the location without violence; defector is hanged | Yes | Best route for No Harm Done; woman is available for the cellar note | No |
| Threaten husband; bring woman outside; execute | Same location; civilians are not physically harmed in the documented scene | Yes | Use evidence and talk instead if you want the safest nonviolent attempt; cellar note remains available | No |
| Shoot husband; bring woman outside; execute | Husband reveals the location after being wounded | Yes | No Harm Done is lost; cellar note remains available | No |
| Any first-house route; leave woman hidden | Soldiers find her and your character is hanged beside the defector | No | Alternate ending; final cellar note is inaccessible on this run | No |
| Bring woman outside; refuse at gallows | Ri kills your character; defector is hanged | No | No trophy benefit reported; cellar note was available before the gallows | No |
The table separates choices that are known to alter the cutscene from choices that only change the route’s violence. It does not imply that a particular combination is the only possible sequence; the documented guide says the first-house choices converge before the abandoned house.

Collect every note and contraband item
CODEX lists four notes and four contraband items in Following Orders. The mission’s collectible route is easy to disrupt if you trigger the final scenes before searching the houses.
First house
The first house contains an MP3 player, a western novel and extra rations. Heart medicine is inside the red lockbox. The run-checked code for that lockbox is 214.
Third house and cellar
In the third house, collect the remaining notes. Take the key from the wall hook, then open the kitchen-floor hatch to reach the cellar note. Bringing the hidden woman outside is required to access this final note on the documented route.

Requirements for No Stone Unturned
For No Stone Unturned, confiscate all four contraband items and read all four notes. Use the mission header’s four-note and four-contraband counts as a completion check, then verify the trophy tracker after finishing the mission.

The safest route for No Harm Done
No Harm Done requires obtaining the defector’s location without hurting civilians. The guide’s recommended order is:
- Search the first house for evidence and contraband before questioning the husband.
- Choose the talk option based on that evidence.
- Do not shoot the husband or fire near civilians.
- At the barrel, pull the soldier away and let the villager go if you want to minimize violent actions during the scene.
- Bring the hidden woman outside so your character survives the later execution scene.
- Finish the mission and check the trophy tracker.
The documented evidence specifically says shooting the husband loses the trophy. It also says the threat route leaves civilians physically unharmed, but the evidence-first talk route avoids the ambiguity and is the safest choice when the trophy is your priority.
A practical replay plan for seeing every documented scene
You need at least two focused runs of Following Orders to see the principal outcomes without relying on an unverified save system.
Run one: trophies and collectibles
- Search each house thoroughly.
- Use evidence to talk to the husband.
- Minimize harm at the barrel.
- Bring the woman outside.
- Collect all four notes and four contraband items, including the cellar note.
- Execute the defector at the gallows.
- Confirm No Harm Done, No Stone Unturned and the mission reward after the results screen.
Run two: alternate character fates
- Replay Following Orders from Mission Select or its equivalent.
- Leave the woman hidden to see the hanging ending.
- On another replay, bring her outside and refuse at the gallows to see Ri kill your character.
- Return to the mission menu and verify that the alternate scenes were recorded if the game provides a completion or scene tracker.
Because the guides report no effect on later missions, you do not need to replay the entire 16-mission campaign after each branch. If your platform offers no reliable mission tracker, keep your own checklist and verify each ending by watching the complete cutscene.
Do choices in Following Orders carry into later missions?
The documented guides found no later-mission consequence for the husband, barrel, hidden-woman or gallows choices. The campaign remains mostly linear. The practical effect is confined to the current mission’s scenes, your character’s fate in that mission, trophy eligibility and access to the cellar note.

That is different from a guarantee about save files. Story consequences and save behavior are separate questions: the former has been observed as local to Following Orders, while the latter has not been officially documented.
What replaying does not guarantee
- A separate save: No official documentation reviewed here confirms that Mission Select creates an isolated slot.
- Preserved collectible state: The game may track collectibles globally, by mission or by current save; inspect the counters on your platform.
- Automatic trophy retroactivity: Complete the relevant run and reach the results screen before checking the trophy list.
- A different campaign: The branches do not turn the campaign into separate storylines. They provide alternate scenes within a largely linear structure.
Mission Select versus DMZ story replay
Do not use the existence of DMZ story replay as proof that single-player campaign replay works the same way. In a PlayStation Blog overview, Activision writer Daniel Noel states: “Story Missions: Select and replay narrative objectives across Hajin for big rewards.” That is an official description of a DMZ feature, not confirmation of Modern Warfare 4’s single-player Mission Select or its save rules.
If the campaign will not launch or replay on PC
Windows players can encounter launch crashes, sound failures or outdated-driver problems that prevent reaching the campaign menu. Resolve those technical problems before judging whether Mission Select is missing:
- Restart the game and Windows, then check whether the Campaign menu loads after a clean launch.
- Update the graphics and audio drivers supplied for your hardware.
- Use the game launcher’s file-repair or verification function if available.
- Disable overlays or audio utilities that interfere with the game, then test the menu again.
- Do not use a repair or driver utility expecting it to change a mission outcome; troubleshooting can restore access to the game but cannot unlock a different branch.
If the menu still does not show Mission Select after the campaign is complete, record your platform, edition and game version before contacting support. The available official material does not establish that every platform exposes the same label or replay behavior.
Bottom line
Replay completed missions from the Campaign menu if your copy exposes Mission Select, Chapters or Replay, but treat save behavior as unconfirmed and inspect every warning first. To see every documented Following Orders outcome, use one evidence-based, nonviolent run for No Harm Done and No Stone Unturned, then replay the mission to leave the woman hidden or refuse at the gallows. Those choices change the mission’s scenes and your character’s fate; no researched guide reports a consequence in later missions.
