Yes. NADRA lists renewal of an existing CNIC as a service available through its PakID app. You can submit and track an application digitally, but NADRA may still require you to visit a Registration Centre for biometrics or a photograph. To reduce the risk of using a fake app, download it through NADRA’s website and confirm NADRA is named as the developer or seller.
Is PakID an official way to renew a CNIC?
Yes. NADRA’s CNIC renewal guidance describes PakID as its official mobile application for identity registration and tracking, and NADRA’s PakID FAQ lists renewal of an existing CNIC among the services available through the app. The FAQ links to Android and iOS downloads.

Use the download links on NADRA’s PakID FAQ, then check the store listing before installing. Google Play identifies the National Database & Registration Authority as the developer; Apple’s listing identifies NADRA as the seller. These are publisher details, not independent security certifications.
How to submit a renewal request in PakID
NADRA’s guidance describes an app-based process that starts with your existing CNIC number. Exact screen names can change, so follow the labels and prompts in the current app.

- Install PakID using a store link provided by NADRA, then sign in or create an account.
- Open the identity-document services and choose the relevant ID card service for renewal.
- Enter the requested details, including your CNIC number, and upload any documents the app requests.
- Complete any biometric verification or photograph steps prompted by the app.
- Review the fee shown and pay using an option presented through the official application.
- Use the app’s tracking feature to check your application’s progress.
NADRA’s renewal page identifies the CNIC number as a requirement. Do not confuse renewal with a first-time CNIC application: NADRA describes separate rules for first-time applications, including a centre visit, which do not establish a renewal requirement.
Will you have to visit a NADRA Registration Centre?
Possibly. NADRA says biometric verification and a photograph may require a visit to a Registration Centre. An app submission therefore does not guarantee that the whole process can be completed remotely. Follow the instructions for your own application; if it directs you to a centre, complete that step there.
If you would rather get help in person or are not comfortable submitting identity information through a mobile app, ask NADRA about the Registration Centre route. The app offers digital submission and tracking, while NADRA’s guidance preserves the possibility of an in-person step.
What does “safely” mean when using PakID?
Using the official app helps you avoid submitting identity information to an impostor app or intermediary, but it does not mean risk is eliminated. NADRA’s privacy policy says the mobile application may collect facial images and, in supported scenarios, fingerprint images with the user’s consent for identity verification or record updates. It lists camera, storage, network, and location permissions, and says payment transactions are encrypted. These are NADRA’s published disclosures, not an independent assessment of the app’s security.

Google Play’s safety information is supplied by the developer and can change; Apple says the privacy information indicated by the developer has not been verified by Apple. Neither store listing is an independent security audit. Do not treat “official” as a guarantee that data can never be exposed.
- Start from NADRA’s own website and verify the app’s publisher or seller is NADRA.
- Do not give your account password or one-time passcode to an intermediary.
- Pay only through an option presented in the official app.
- If an unexpected request appears or your application has a problem, contact NADRA using a published help channel rather than relying on an unsolicited message.
Fees, processing time, and help
Fees and processing estimates can change. NADRA’s renewal page directs applicants to its separate fee structure and processing-time information; check that live source and the amount displayed in your application before paying. Do not rely on a fixed fee or delivery date from an older guide.
