Match the repair to the defect: use denoising or enhancement for noise-like damage, tracked object removal for a separate unwanted element, and motion deblur for blur-like softness. These tools are not universal fixes for AI-generated mistakes. If an object, face, hand, or scene detail changes shape or identity from frame to frame, regeneration or a manual replacement may work better than stronger sharpening.
Identify what kind of artifact you have
“AI video artifacts” can describe several different problems, and treating them all with the same filter can make a clip look worse. Pause on the affected section and check both individual frames and playback: is the flaw image noise, blur, an unwanted element, or generated content that is wrong or inconsistent?
- Noise or compression-like texture: speckling, blockiness, or rough image texture across areas of the frame.
- Blur or softness: motion-smearing or a lack of crispness, especially around moving edges.
- A localized unwanted object or mark: a distinct element in one area that you want to remove.
- A changing content error: for example, anatomy or an object that warps, changes identity, or appears differently across adjacent frames.
Enhancement, noise reduction, object removal, and deblurring address different subsets of these problems. None should be assumed to reconstruct information that was never in the source or to correct every semantic generation error.
Choose a repair that matches the defect
| Defect | Approach to try | What to watch for |
|---|---|---|
| Noise or compression-like damage | Try a suitable enhancement or noise-reduction model, then compare the result with the source. | Excessive smoothing can remove real texture; enhancement can also change fine detail. |
| Small, distinct unwanted object | Try tracked object removal if you have DaVinci Resolve Studio and the background is stable. | Results depend on the footage. Larger objects, occlusion, or a changing background make a clean repair harder. |
| Motion-blur-like softness | Try AI Motion DeBlur in DaVinci Resolve 21. | It addresses blur-like softness, not incorrect or changing generated content. |
| Warping anatomy, changing identity, or impossible geometry | Consider regenerating the shot or manually replacing the affected content. | Sharpening and denoising do not reliably fix a changing semantic error. |
For noise and compression-like artifacts
Topaz Video’s filter reference describes Artemis as a general enhancement model that balances detail, noise, and artifact reduction; Iris as a general model for noise and compression-artifact reduction with face recovery for low- to medium-quality footage; and Gaia as suited to already high-quality or computer-generated files. These are the vendor’s descriptions, not an independent comparison or a guarantee for a particular AI clip. Check the current Topaz Video filter reference and preview candidate settings on your footage.

Match the video type to the source: Topaz’s documentation distinguishes progressive from interlaced footage. Its enhancement guidance also describes Recover Detail, which mixes original detail back into enhanced output, and model modes ranging from automated to manual. Treat these as controls to test, not as a promise that detail can be restored accurately. See Topaz’s enhancement guidance.
DaVinci Resolve 21 documents AI Ultra Noise Reduction as a noise-reduction mode. Use noise reduction for noise-like defects rather than expecting it to repair object identity or anatomy. Inspect fine edges and moving detail for smoothing or distortion. The feature is described in the Resolve 21 feature guide.

For an unwanted object or mark
DaVinci Resolve’s object-removal documentation describes a workflow in Resolve Studio: draw and track a Power Window around the unwanted element, apply the object-removal plug-in, and run scene analysis. The documented approach is a better candidate when the object is small and the background is temporally stable; it does not promise perfect removal. Consult Blackmagic’s Resolve Color documentation for the current workflow.
For motion blur or softness
Resolve 21’s feature guide describes AI Motion DeBlur as a way to address common motion-blur artifacts and softness. It renders a new media clip into the workstation rather than replacing the original footage, so compare the rendered clip with your source. It is not a repair for malformed content or details that change from frame to frame. See the Resolve 21 feature guide.

Use a reversible test workflow
- Keep an untouched copy. Duplicate the clip or sequence before applying filters. Save cleaned intermediates separately from the source.
- Mark the affected moments. Note the time range and inspect several adjacent frames to determine whether the defect stays in place or changes over time.
- Try one targeted operation. Use enhancement or denoising for noise-like damage, tracked removal for a discrete unwanted element, or motion deblur for blur-like softness. Avoid stacking strong effects automatically.
- Preview a short representative section. Compare processed and unprocessed versions at normal playback speed, then inspect close-up details such as faces, fine lines, text, and moving edges.
- Check temporal consistency. Look for flicker, newly invented texture, or edges that wobble between frames. A single sharp-looking still does not establish that the repaired clip works in motion.
- Choose repair or regeneration. If the underlying problem is changing content rather than image quality, weigh a manual replacement or regenerated shot against increasingly aggressive enhancement.
- Review the final output before export. Confirm that the treatment has not removed useful texture or introduced visible artifacts elsewhere in the section.
Check tool fit and version details
Topaz Labs describes its Premiere panel as a way to upscale, denoise, create slow motion, and interpolate frames within a Premiere workflow, and explicitly includes AI-generated video among its use cases. That product description does not establish that it will fix a particular defect. Details are on the Topaz Premiere panel page.
Before committing to a tool or workflow, check its supported defect, how much it changes the source, the masking or manual control available, and whether the result stays consistent in motion. Also verify current edition, host-editor, and processing requirements against the vendor’s current documentation. Blackmagic’s support page lists DaVinci Resolve 21.1 documentation dated 8 September 2026; feature descriptions here refer to the Resolve 21 guide. Blackmagic support is the place to check current documentation and version details.
