You can remove a Samsung account from a Galaxy phone without factory-resetting it: open Settings > Accounts and backup > Manage accounts, select Samsung account, and choose Remove account. Depending on the model and software, the account may instead appear at the top of Settings with a Sign out option. Back up and verify important content first: Samsung says synced account data is removed from the phone when you sign out, while local data that was not synced with Samsung Cloud remains.
Before removing the account, check your data and password
Removing the account disconnects it from this phone; it does not permanently delete your Samsung account. You can add the account again later. However, some data associated with Samsung services may no longer be accessible on the device until you sign in again.
- Open the apps or services you rely on and check that important photos, contacts, documents, and other content are available.
- Back up anything you cannot afford to lose, then confirm that the backup contains what you need. Do not assume a sync indicator means you have a separate, recoverable copy.
- Have the Samsung account password ready. Samsung’s account sign-in guidance says the password may be required. If you have forgotten it, reset it through Samsung before trying to remove the account.
Remove the Samsung account from the Galaxy phone
- Open Settings.
- Tap Accounts and backup.
- Tap Manage accounts or, on some versions, Account management.
- Select Samsung account.
- Tap Remove account and confirm the prompts. Depending on the software, you may see Sign out and be asked to enter your password instead.
On some recent Galaxy software, open the profile shown at the top of Settings, then choose Sign out. The route and labels vary by model and software version; Samsung’s Gulf, Saudi Arabia and Canada support pages describe the common variations.
What happens to photos, contacts, and other data?
Samsung Canada says that when you remove a Samsung account, synced Samsung account data is removed from the device and new data no longer syncs. It also says local data that has not been synced with Samsung Cloud remains on the phone. These are different cases: an item stored only on the phone is not the same as an item available through Samsung account sync.

Do not assume every item will remain available in the same app after sign-out. Before removing the account, check that important content is stored locally or backed up somewhere you can access. Samsung’s account-management guide explains the sync behavior, and its removal guidance warns that account-associated data may not be accessible on the device until the account is added again.
Make a computer backup with Smart Switch
If you want a computer copy, Samsung documents backing up with Smart Switch on a PC. Connect the phone to the computer with a USB cable, allow access on the phone if prompted, and choose Backup in Smart Switch. Samsung says this method does not transfer hidden files or Secure Folder files, so copy or protect anything in those locations separately. See Samsung’s personal-information backup guidance.

Removing an account is not a factory reset or device deregistration
A factory reset is a separate operation and is not needed to remove a Samsung account. Samsung says a reset removes personal information and data from the device, so it is the wrong step if your aim is simply to disconnect the account and keep phone content. If you are preparing to sell or give away the phone, follow Samsung’s separate transfer or erasure guidance after backing up what you need; see its factory-reset instructions.
There is also a distinction between removing the account from this phone and unregistering the device from the account. Samsung notes that device removal and unregistering can be separate actions. If you specifically want the phone no longer listed under your Samsung account, follow the account’s device-management instructions in Samsung’s support guidance.
