Start in Pokémon Trainer Central: create or sign in to your account, open Play! Pokémon, choose Create a Play! Pokémon Account, and either link an existing Player ID with its PIN or select I do not have a Player ID to generate one. Then use the official Event Locator to find a League, Play! Pokémon Store event, League Challenge, League Cup, Championship Series event, or another sanctioned activity. The individual organizer—not a single Pokémon-wide checkout system—sets the sign-up method, fee, capacity, deadline, format, and age requirements.
If you arrive without an ID, the tournament Organizer may assign one at the venue. Keep only one Player ID, record its number and PIN, and add it to your profile afterward. A card without a PIN can remain valid, but linking may wait until the Organizer reports your participation, usually five to seven days later.
What you need before registering
Play! Pokémon participation begins with a Pokémon Trainer Central account. The account is where your Play! Pokémon profile, Player ID, event history, rankings, and eligible player benefits are connected.

- A Pokémon Trainer Central account: Sign in with an existing account or create one before setting up Play! Pokémon.
- One Player ID: Every tournament participant must have their own Player ID. Do not create or use a second ID if one was previously issued.
- An event listing: The Event Locator identifies nearby sanctioned activities, but the listing or local Organizer supplies the operational registration details.
- Parent or guardian involvement when required: Minors may need consent and supervision, and an event can impose its own age rules.
A Player ID is the identifier used to associate your participation with your Play! Pokémon account. It is not the same thing as an event reservation. Creating or linking the ID does not automatically reserve a seat at a League Challenge, League Cup, or other event.

Create or link your Player ID in Pokémon Trainer Central
Use the following path when you are setting up Play! Pokémon for the first time or when you need to connect an ID issued previously.
- Sign in to Pokémon Trainer Central. Use the account that should own the Play! Pokémon profile. If you are a parent managing a child, sign in to the parent account and select the child later in the process.
- Open the Play! Pokémon section. Use the Play! Pokémon option in the account menu rather than trying to register through a particular store first.
- Select “Create a Play! Pokémon Account.” Complete the required information shown in the setup form and review the terms presented on screen.
- Choose the correct Player ID option.
- Select I have a Player ID if an Organizer, League, store, or previous event already issued one. Enter the Player ID and its PIN exactly as provided.
- Select I do not have a Player ID if no ID has ever been issued to you. The system generates an ID as part of account setup.
- Confirm the profile. After setup, the generated or linked Player ID should appear under your name in the Play! Pokémon area. Save the number somewhere secure so you can present it when an Organizer asks for it.
Choosing the wrong option can create a duplicate record or leave an existing ID unlinked. If you already played at an event or received a card, stop and locate that ID before selecting the generation option.
Find a local event and learn its actual sign-up process
Use the official Event Locator to search for a local Pokémon League, Play! Pokémon Store activity, League Challenge, League Cup, Championship Series event, or another sanctioned event. The locator is the discovery tool; it is not a guarantee that every event uses the same registration page or payment process.

- Game and format: Confirm whether the activity is for the Pokémon Trading Card Game, a Pokémon video game, Pokémon GO, or another format named by the Organizer.
- Date, start time, and location: Allow time for check-in, deck checks, device preparation, or other requirements stated by the listing.
- Registration route: The Organizer may use online preregistration, a store sign-up, or on-site registration. Some events combine these methods, such as a capacity-limited preregistration followed by a waitlist or remaining on-site seats.
- Capacity and deadline: A listing can close when it reaches its limit or when its stated deadline passes. Do not assume that arriving early guarantees entry.
- Entry fee: Some events are free; others charge an entry fee. The amount and accepted payment method come from the local Organizer.
- Age and guardian rules: Check whether a minor needs parental consent, a supervising adult, or a particular age division.
- Player rewards: If Championship Points or other rewards matter to you, verify that the specific event awards them and that you meet its participation requirements.
Contact the Organizer when the listing is incomplete
Ask the store or event contact how to register, whether seats remain, what identification or consent forms are required, and when check-in closes. Ask specifically about the game format: a League gathering, a TCG tournament, a video game competition, and a Pokémon GO event can have different equipment and rules even when they appear in the same locator.
Do not treat a League listing as a guaranteed tournament entry. Leagues may be recurring community play, while League Challenges, League Cups, and Championship Series events can have formal rounds, capacity limits, and separate registration procedures. The listing determines what is actually being offered.
Register when you arrive without a Player ID
The Play! Pokémon Tournament Rules Handbook requires each tournament participant to have their own Player ID, but it also allows an Organizer to assign an ID to a player who does not have one before arriving. This is a fallback at the venue, not a reason to skip advance account setup when you have time.

- Tell the check-in desk that you do not yet have a Player ID.
- Provide the information the Organizer requests and follow the venue’s identity, consent, and registration instructions.
- Write down the assigned Player ID and keep any card or PIN the Organizer provides.
- Use that same ID for future Play! Pokémon activity. Never register under another ID simply because a second event issues a new card.
- After the event, open your Pokémon Trainer Central profile and add the number and PIN in Play! Pokémon Settings.
If the Organizer gives you an ID card with no PIN, the card can still be valid. Leave the PIN field blank when you link it. The event may not connect to your online profile immediately; linking can wait until the Organizer reports participation, usually within five to seven days.

Link a venue-issued card and handle a missing PIN
Open your profile’s Play! Pokémon Settings tab and enter the Player ID and PIN supplied with the card. If the card has no PIN, submit the Player ID with the PIN left blank. Once the Organizer reports the event, it should appear on your My Play! Pokémon page.
The five-to-seven-day period is an operational estimate for no-PIN cards after the Organizer submits the participation report; it is not a guarantee that every event will post on the same schedule. Keep the physical card and your event details until the activity appears online.
If the event still does not appear
- Check that you entered the exact Player ID, including every digit.
- Verify that you are viewing the correct Trainer Central account, especially if a parent manages multiple profiles.
- Confirm that the Organizer has submitted the participation report; the profile cannot link an unreported event immediately.
- Contact the event Organizer if more than the usual reporting window has passed or if the card information is unreadable.
- Do not create a replacement ID while waiting. Duplicate IDs can be removed or merged, and knowingly registering multiple IDs violates the website terms.
Set up Play! Pokémon for a child
A parent uses the parent account to connect a child’s Play! Pokémon participation.

- Sign in to the parent Pokémon Trainer Central account.
- Select the child’s name from the account’s family or profile view.
- Open Play! Pokémon Settings for that child.
- Enter the child’s Player ID and PIN. If the child has no PIN, use the card’s number and leave the PIN blank when the form permits it.
- Review the terms and select Sign Up.
To enable benefits such as rankings and player rewards, the parent may also need to add a physical address to the child’s account. A parent should check the event listing separately for consent forms, supervision rules, and age divisions; creating the child profile does not override an Organizer’s requirements.

Compare event choices before you commit
The Event Locator can show several kinds of Play! Pokémon activity. Use the listing to compare them on the factors below rather than choosing solely by name.

| Capacity and deadline | Seat limit, registration closing time, and whether the listing accepts a waitlist or on-site entrants. |
| Game format | Pokémon Trading Card Game, Pokémon video game, Pokémon GO, or another format identified in the listing. |
| Age and guardian rules | Age division, parental consent, supervision, and any identification requirements. |
| Points or rewards | Whether that particular event awards Championship Points or other player rewards and what eligibility conditions apply. |
These attributes can vary from one listing to another, even for events with the same broad name. Treat the individual listing and Organizer’s instructions as the controlling source.

Several days before the event
- Sign in to Trainer Central and verify that your Play! Pokémon profile shows your single Player ID.
- Search the Event Locator and open the complete listing, not just the search result.
- Record the date, venue, format, fee, capacity, deadline, and Organizer contact.
- Complete any online preregistration and save its confirmation if the Organizer uses one.
- For a child, complete the parent-account setup, add an address if needed for benefits, and prepare consent information.
On event day
- Arrive before the stated check-in cutoff with the Player ID or card, registration confirmation, and any required payment or consent documents.
- Tell staff immediately if you have no ID or if your card has no PIN.
- Confirm that the event’s game and format match what you prepared to play.
- Keep the Organizer’s contact information and any receipt or participation slip until your online record is updated.
After participation
- Add a venue-issued ID to Play! Pokémon Settings as soon as possible.
- Check My Play! Pokémon for the reported event.
- If a no-PIN card is still waiting, allow the usual five-to-seven-day reporting window before escalating.
- Continue using the same Player ID at future events.
Common registration problems and fixes
“I cannot find a registration button.”
There is no universal checkout flow for every Play! Pokémon activity. Open the listing for the Organizer’s instructions, then contact the store or event desk to determine whether sign-up is handled online, in person, or at the venue.
“I selected the wrong Player ID option.”
If an ID was previously issued, do not create another one to work around the error. Locate the original number and PIN, then use the existing-ID path. Ask the Organizer or account support for help resolving a duplicate rather than registering a second profile.

“My card has no PIN.”
Enter the number in Play! Pokémon Settings and leave the PIN blank. The card can remain valid, but the event may not link until the Organizer reports participation. Retain the card while waiting.
“My child is not appearing in my Play! Pokémon settings.”
Make sure you are signed in to the parent account, select the child’s profile before opening Play! Pokémon Settings, and complete the terms and Sign Up steps for that child. Add the requested physical address if rankings or player rewards are not enabled.
“The event is full or the fee is different from what I expected.”
Capacity, deadlines, and fees are set locally. Recheck the current listing and ask the Organizer whether a waitlist, another session, or a different event is available. Do not assume that another League or Cup at the same venue has identical terms.

Your Player ID gives Play! Pokémon a consistent record for your participation across sanctioned events. It lets an Organizer report your attendance to the account associated with that number and supports features such as rankings and eligible player rewards when the account requirements are met.
The ID does not by itself register you for a specific event, guarantee a seat, waive an entry fee, or establish that an event awards Championship Points. Those outcomes depend on the individual listing, the Organizer’s process, and the event’s rules. Set up the account and ID first, then complete the separate registration step the listing requires.
