If F1 TV buffers or looks blurry, first check whether the problem affects other devices or streaming services. Then test the viewing device, competing network use, and playback method one at a time. F1 says its web player defaults to Auto quality based on the internet connection, and identifies local bandwidth, time of day, internet provider, apps running on the device, and the number of connected devices as factors that can affect streaming quality.
Work out whether the problem is F1 TV or your connection
Try another streaming service on the same device, then check whether F1 TV or other services also struggle on a second device. If several devices or services have trouble at the same time, look first at the internet connection and competing network use. If only one device or F1 TV is affected, focus your next tests there. F1 lists several possible influences on playback, but those factors do not prove that your home network is always the cause. F1’s streaming support response says the web player uses Auto quality by default and names time of day, bandwidth, internet provider, device apps, and connected-device count as factors.
Try these troubleshooting steps in order
-
Reduce competing activity
Pause large downloads and other heavy network use while you watch. Close unnecessary apps and browser tabs on the viewing device, and temporarily reduce simultaneous streaming or downloads elsewhere at home. These are useful tests based on F1’s listed factors, not guaranteed fixes.
-
Compare Wi-Fi with a closer or wired connection
If you are watching over Wi-Fi, test near the router. If your device and router support it, try Ethernet temporarily to see whether removing Wi-Fi from the path changes playback. This is a diagnostic comparison, not a claim that a cable will fix every interruption. Avoid buying a router or Wi-Fi booster until a test points to wireless coverage as the problem.

Compare direct playback with another platform
Try the same F1 content on another supported device or platform, such as a web browser, TV app, or streaming device. F1 lists web, apps, Google TV, Apple TV, Roku, and Amazon Fire TV among its viewing options; availability can vary by location and may change. Its app listing also describes Chromecast casting. If you cast, compare that with direct playback on the TV or another device: casting adds another device and connection to the playback chain, so the comparison can help identify where the issue occurs. It does not mean casting is inherently unreliable. See F1 TV’s product page and the F1 app listing for current platform details.

Check F1’s current help topics
Open the F1 Help Centre and look for “F1 TV Streaming Quality,” “Streaming Settings,” or “Video & Streaming Problems.” Help articles, settings, and support routes may change; consult the current instructions rather than relying on generic advice about cache clearing, DNS, or a resolution selector.

Choose a playback setup that helps isolate the cause
There is no evidence here that one brand or platform is more stable than another. Compare setups using the same event and subscription access, and change one part of the viewing chain at a time.
| What to compare | What it can tell you |
|---|---|
| Browser versus TV or streaming-device app | If one works and the other does not, the issue may be specific to that device, app, or platform. Confirm that F1 TV supports the exact platform in your location. |
| Direct playback versus Chromecast casting | If direct playback works but casting does not, investigate the casting path and its devices rather than assuming the internet connection alone is responsible. |
| One device versus several devices | If the problem follows one device, focus on that device and its apps. If it appears across devices, test the connection and competing network use. |
| Wi-Fi near the router versus Ethernet, if available | A difference can point to the wireless link as a contributor; it does not establish that Wi-Fi is the only cause. |
What Auto quality and Premium features do—and do not—tell you
F1 says web playback defaults to Auto quality based on the internet connection. That explains why picture quality can vary, but the reviewed support information does not establish a minimum internet speed that guarantees smooth playback or a universal manual setting to choose.
