How to Recover a YouTube Meditation Stream After a Stream Key Reset

To recover your YouTube meditation stream after resetting its stream key, copy the new key from YouTube Studio and replace the old one in your encoder. Then reconnect and, for a scheduled stream, wait for its preview in Live Control Room before clicking Go live.

Replace the reset key in your encoder

1. Open YouTube Live Control Room. In YouTube Studio, choose Create, then Go Live.
2. Reset and copy the key. Open the Stream tab, find Stream key, choose Reset beside the hidden key, and copy the newly generated key. YouTube says only a channel owner or manager can reset a stream key. YouTube’s stream-key instructions describe keys as “like your YouTube stream’s password and address,” so treat the copied value as sensitive.
3. Update the encoder. Open your encoder’s stream settings and replace the old key with the new one. If the encoder has a separate server or Stream URL field, compare it with the URL displayed in Live Control Room and correct it if needed.
4. Reconnect and check the result. Start the encoder. If the stream is scheduled, follow the steps below rather than assuming that reconnecting automatically makes it public.

Resume a scheduled meditation stream

A scheduled stream has a watch page that you may already have shared. Check the event’s visibility and scheduled listing before resuming so the stream appears where and when you intend.

1. In Live Control Room, open the scheduled event and note its current Stream URL and key.
2. Enter the current URL and newly reset key in the encoder, then start the encoder.
3. Wait for the incoming stream preview to appear in Live Control Room. Confirm that the video and audio look and sound right.
4. When the preview is ready, select Go live to start the scheduled broadcast. YouTube’s encoder setup guidance recommends setting up in advance and checking the preview before going live.

If the stream still will not start

• The encoder reports an error starting your encoder: Confirm that the newly generated key—not the reset, old key—is pasted in the encoder’s stream-key field. YouTube’s encoder troubleshooting guidance directs creators to retrieve the current key from Live Control Room and paste it into the encoder.
• The key looks right, but connection still fails: Check that the encoder’s Stream URL or server field matches the URL shown in Live Control Room. Make sure the key and URL are in their respective fields.
• Your software signs in to YouTube without asking for a key: The key-copy procedure does not apply to that sign-in flow. YouTube advises contacting the software provider’s support team.
• The encoder connects but the scheduled broadcast has not started: Check for the preview in Live Control Room, then select Go live for the scheduled event.
• The meditation is live, but you suspect an audio or connection problem: Monitor stream quality and verify that any local archive is being written. YouTube’s streaming tips recommend these checks; they are particularly useful during a long session, when a problem could otherwise go unnoticed.
