You can guide an AI-generated video with a Blender scene’s camera views and depth, but that is not the same as transferring the animated camera or Blender materials intact. In NVIDIA’s March 17, 2026 local workflow, Blender-derived depth-guided images provide visual guidance; ComfyUI’s LTX-2.3 FirstFrame/LastFrame template uses start and end images to generate motion between them. Keep the editable .blend file as the source of truth, and check the output for camera drift and material changes.
What carries over—and what does not
| Blender element | What the documented workflow supports | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| Scene layout, camera angle, depth, subject position | These can guide the generated images and video through scene-derived references, according to NVIDIA’s workflow guide. | Native import of the Blender camera object or exact preservation of every camera pose. |
| Animated camera path | Start and end views can guide a video model’s motion between them. | Exact frame-by-frame tracking of the Blender animation; the guide does not promise this. |
| Materials and shader nodes | Rendered or generated reference images and plain-language prompts can communicate intended appearance. | Transfer of Blender shader graphs or physically based material parameters to the video model. That is not documented for this image-conditioned workflow. |
In practical terms, treat the camera and materials as visual intent to communicate and verify, not scene data that the model necessarily inherits. The expectation that shader graphs do not transfer follows from the documented image-based interface; it is an inference, not a stated feature limitation.
Use Blender views to guide the video
NVIDIA’s guide, dated March 17, 2026, describes a local pipeline using Blender 4.5 LTS, ComfyUI, FLUX.1 for depth-guided image generation, and LTX-2.3 for video. It uses scene layout and depth to create reference images at chosen camera views, then feeds a first and last image to a video template.
- Keep the editable master. Save the native .blend file with the scene and camera animation. Use it to adjust camera views, geometry, and reference images if the generated result drifts.
- Set the shot bounds. Decide the output aspect ratio and frame range before making references so the guides represent the intended composition.
- Choose the views. Identify the animation’s start and end times. For a complex move, also note intermediate times whose composition or camera angle is important.
- Create depth-guided references. Use the ComfyUI Blender integration described in NVIDIA’s guide to derive depth and generate a first image from the scene and a prompt. Scrub to the endpoint and make a second image. The guide also describes using a second camera and repositioning scene elements when there is no animation.
- Generate the video between endpoints. Load the two images into the ComfyUI LTX-2.3 FirstFrame/LastFrame template and prompt the motion between them.
- Review before upscaling. Check the generated clip against the guide views. Upscale with the RTX video upscaler in the documented pipeline only after the shot is acceptable.
The cited workflow documents endpoint images, not a full camera track. Rendering additional intermediate guides for an intricate move is a reasonable experiment, but the guide does not establish that this template accepts them or that they will enforce exact intermediate poses. Test the specific template and model version you plan to use.

Describe and check materials as appearance
Do not assume the AI-video stage receives Blender’s shader nodes. Instead, give the model clear visual references and describe the intended surface in ordinary terms—for example, matte black plastic, glossy red paint, brushed metal, translucent glass, rough stone, or a repeating fabric pattern. These are ways to communicate appearance, not a method for transmitting the original shader graph.
Inspect the generated clip for surface color, gloss, texture, and lighting changes. A material that looks correct in one reference can change across frames, so compare both endpoints and the motion between them. If an object’s appearance shifts, revise the reference images, prompt, or scene presentation and regenerate a short test before committing to a longer shot.

When scene interchange formats are relevant
File interchange is a separate route from image-conditioned video generation. Blender supports multiple 3D formats; the right one depends on whether the receiving application supports the scene data you need. Blender’s 4.2 LTS USD documentation says that only supported visible objects are exported, supports perspective cameras, and describes material conversion options and limitations. Exporting USD or another format does not, by itself, mean an AI-video service can use the camera animation or materials. Confirm support in the destination application’s own documentation.
Blender’s pipeline overview lists interchange formats and describes Alembic camera support. Exporter capabilities evolve, so consult documentation for your installed Blender release as well as the receiving application. The NVIDIA workflow described here relies on Blender-derived image/depth references rather than establishing a 3D interchange handoff to the video model.

Local workflow requirements and scope
NVIDIA lists Windows 11, 64 GB of system RAM, and 16 GB of VRAM for the local workflow in its March 17, 2026 guide, recommending an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti or higher. These are requirements for that specific local setup, not universal requirements for cloud AI-video services. The guide’s software, template names, model support, and hardware guidance may change; check the current instructions for the exact workflow you use.
NVIDIA’s older 3D Guided Generative AI blueprint page is marked deprecated, so it is historical context for depth-map guidance, not the recommended current deployment. Earlier research such as GPT4Motion offers historical context for using Blender motion in visual synthesis, but does not establish current support in a particular commercial video product.
