The simplest way to play all six Core Design-era Tomb Raider games on a current Windows PC is to buy two collections: Tomb Raider I-III Remastered Starring Lara Croft for the first three adventures and Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered for The Last Revelation, Chronicles, and The Angel of Darkness. Both are current PC releases with classic and remastered visual options. Windows 10 or later is the practical baseline for a supported installation, so Windows 11 systems are covered when they meet the published hardware requirements.
The quickest route to Tomb Raider 1–6 on PC
Buy the collection that contains the games you want, install it through a supported PC storefront, and choose your preferred visual mode when you launch. To own the complete six-game Core Design run, you need both releases:
- Tomb Raider I-III Remastered Starring Lara Croft contains Tomb Raider I, Tomb Raider II, and Tomb Raider III, together with their named expansion campaigns.
- Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered contains Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation, Tomb Raider: Chronicles, and Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness.
The first collection launched on February 13, 2024. The second launched on February 14, 2025. Steam lists both as PC products; the official announcement for IV–VI also identifies the Epic Games Store and GOG as PC storefronts. Tomb Raider I-III Remastered
This is the complete first trilogy rather than three base games with the extra content sold separately. The collection includes Unfinished Business for the first game, Golden Mask for the second, and The Lost Artifact for the third. The enhanced presentation can be changed instantly to the original polygonal look. Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered

If your reason for returning is to experience the sixth game as well as the earlier titles, this collection is required; buying I–III alone does not include any of the IV–VI games.

Check your Windows 11 PC before buying
Steam publishes separate minimum specifications. The figures below are minimums, not performance guarantees for every resolution, graphics setting, or background workload.

Steam’s current client policy makes Windows 10 or later the practical baseline even though the I–III game page retains a Windows 7 entry. A Windows 11 PC therefore satisfies the operating-system generation requirement, but it still needs a 64-bit processor, at least 4 GB of RAM, and a graphics adapter at or above the relevant listing.
How to check the essentials in Windows 11
- Open Settings, choose System, then About. Confirm that the system type is 64-bit and note the processor and installed RAM.
- Open Settings and select System, Display, then Advanced display to identify the active display adapter, or use Device Manager and expand Display adapters.
- Compare those names with the collection’s Steam minimums. A machine can meet the memory requirement while still falling below the listed GPU class.
- Leave more than the stated 5 GB free if you are installing I–III alongside other software; the published number is the game’s listed minimum storage, not a recommendation to fill a drive completely.
Buying and installing the collections
- Choose the coverage you need. Select I–III for the first three games and their three named expansions, IV–VI for the later trilogy, or both for all six Core Design-era games.
- Use a supported PC storefront. Search the exact collection title in Steam. IV–VI is also identified for the Epic Games Store and GOG by the official announcement. Confirm that the edition is the remastered collection, not an unrelated soundtrack, bundle, or console listing.
- Check the live requirements and region. Store pages can change their compatibility notes, language information, and availability. Review the current listing for your country before checkout.
- Install through the storefront library. In Steam, open Library, select the collection, choose Install, pick a drive with sufficient free space, and let the client finish downloading and validating the files.
- Allow the first launch to complete. Start the game from the same library entry and wait for any first-run setup or update to finish before changing files manually.
- Keep the storefront installation intact. If an update is offered, apply it through the storefront first. Manual replacement of game files can make later repairs or updates harder.
Choosing the visual presentation
Remastered graphics
The remastered mode adds enhanced graphics while preserving the original level content. It is the easiest starting point on a modern monitor because geometry and lighting are presented with a cleaner contemporary treatment. Use it when you want the most immediately readable image.

Classic graphics
Both collections provide an instant switch to the classic visual presentation. This is not a separate purchase or a separate old executable: the option is built into each remastered collection. Switch modes when a scene’s original polygonal style is part of the experience, when you are comparing a remembered room with the updated rendering, or when a visual effect feels more authentic in the classic presentation.

Photo mode and Challenge Mode in I–III
I–III adds photo mode for composing screenshots. Its updated Challenge Mode supplies additional outfits and achievements, giving completion-focused players goals beyond the main campaigns. These additions do not replace the original levels or the included expansion campaigns.

When modern controls make sense
Modern controls are intended to make movement and camera operation smoother, particularly for players accustomed to later third-person action games. They are a practical first choice if you are new to the series, using a gamepad after years away, or finding the original directional handling difficult to read on a widescreen display.

When classic tank controls make sense
Classic tank-style controls preserve the deliberate, grid-like movement associated with the original games. They can make long jumps, ledge alignment, and timing feel familiar to returning players. The official IV–VI announcement explicitly confirms that you can choose between modern controls and classic tank controls.
For I–III, the supplied product information confirms the visual switch and modernized play features but does not spell out a separate control-toggle specification. If retaining the exact original control behavior is your deciding factor, verify the current I–III control description in the live store listing before purchase. A practical way to decide
- Start with modern controls if camera movement is your main frustration.
- Start with classic controls if you remember the original games’ fixed directional handling and want that timing preserved.
- Try the same short section in both modes before committing to a full campaign. A control scheme that feels awkward in a combat room may feel precise in a platforming room, and vice versa.

Look for each additional campaign in the collection’s game-selection or level-selection interface after installation. The exact menu wording can vary with patches and platform builds, so use the current on-screen labels rather than assuming the expansions appear as separate storefront products.
Windows 11 troubleshooting
The store says the PC is unsupported
Recheck the operating-system architecture first. Both collections require a 64-bit processor and operating system. A 32-bit Windows installation will not satisfy that requirement even when the processor itself is relatively recent. For I–III, do not rely on the old Windows 7 line shown on the game page; Steam’s current client policy makes Windows 10 or later the practical supported baseline.
The game installs but will not start
- Restart Windows and the storefront client, then try the launch again.
- In the storefront library, use the game’s management or properties menu to run its file-verification or repair option.
- Confirm that the installed graphics adapter meets the collection’s listed minimum and that Windows is using that adapter rather than a lower-power integrated device.
- Install pending Windows and graphics-driver updates, then reboot before testing again.
- If the problem remains, record the exact error text and consult the current support information attached to the storefront listing; avoid deleting configuration or save files without a backup.
The picture looks wrong on a modern monitor
Use the built-in classic/remastered switch to determine whether the issue is specific to one presentation. Check the display mode and resolution options exposed by the game, and test with overlays or recording software disabled if the symptom appears only during capture. Because the collections are designed to offer both visual presentations, changing that mode is safer than replacing files from an unrelated legacy installation.
The controls feel unresponsive or unnatural
Confirm which control scheme is active before changing key bindings. In IV–VI, switch between modern and classic controls and test a familiar movement sequence. A player expecting analog-style camera movement can interpret tank controls as input lag, while a returning player can interpret modern camera steering as imprecise; the two schemes intentionally behave differently.
There is not enough disk space
I–III lists 5 GB of storage as its minimum. Free additional space for the storefront’s temporary download and update files, and install the two collections on a drive with room for future patches. The IV–VI listing in the supplied specifications does not state a storage figure, so use the live store page’s current value when planning that installation.

- The storefront reports the installation as complete and fully updated.
For most Windows 11 players, the two remastered collections are preferable to assembling old disc releases, unofficial patches, or separate emulation setups: they package the six games through current PC storefronts, include the named I–III expansions, and provide a built-in choice between classic and enhanced presentation. Buy only the collection covering the games you want, or install both for the complete six-game run.
