Choose FINAL FANTASY XV WINDOWS EDITION for a Windows PC, or FINAL FANTASY XV ROYAL EDITION for PlayStation or Xbox. Windows Edition bundles the base game with the season pass, bonus items and Royal Pack. Royal Edition on PS4 includes the major story episodes, Comrades and Royal Pack content, and that PS4 release can be played on PS5 through backward compatibility. Xbox One copies are also supported on Xbox Series X|S through Xbox backward compatibility. Your main decisions are therefore edition completeness, your hardware, available storage, controller preference and whether you want the online Comrades expansion.

What the complete editions add
Royal Edition on PlayStation and Xbox
PlayStation describes Royal Edition as including the season-pass content, Episode Gladiolus, Episode Prompto, Episode Ignis, the Comrades expansion and Royal Pack material. This is the console package to select when you want the principal post-launch additions without assembling separate purchases.

Windows Edition on PC
Square Enix lists the Windows Edition with the base game, season pass, bonus items and FFXV Royal Pack. It also documents native 4K and HDR10 support and graphics configuration reaching up to 8K when the computer and display hardware can handle those settings. Those output modes are capabilities, not guaranteed performance levels.
Royal Pack features
Square Enix support identifies several additions associated with Royal Edition and Windows Edition:
- An expanded Insomnia City Ruins area with additional quests and enemies.
- A controllable Royal Vessel that adds exploration, fishing and recipes.
- An accessory that unlocks Armiger Unleashed after you meet the required royal-arms condition.
- The character episodes and other season-pass content described on the PlayStation product page.
The exact menu layout and download sequence vary by storefront. Install the game’s updates and every listed downloadable-content package while connected to the internet so the included material is available in-game.

How to play Final Fantasy XV on a Windows PC
1. Check the current PC listing before buying
Compare your computer with the requirements shown by the current store listing. Check all of the following rather than looking only at the processor:
- Operating-system version.
- Processor model and required instruction-set support.
- Graphics processor and available video memory.
- System memory (RAM).
- Free storage for the game and its current updates.
The published requirements can change as storefront builds and operating systems change. If a store page offers separate minimum and recommended specifications, use the recommended line for a more consistent experience at higher settings; neither line is a promise of a particular frame rate.
2. Test the computer with the official benchmark
Square Enix recommends running the official FINAL FANTASY XV benchmark to estimate how your machine handles the game. Download it from the official benchmark page, select a resolution and quality preset that resembles how you intend to play, and let the complete test finish. Use the result as a planning aid, not as a guarantee: the final game, patches, drivers, background applications and chosen graphics options can produce different results.

3. Install the correct edition through your PC account
- Buy and redeem FINAL FANTASY XV WINDOWS EDITION in your chosen PC store.
- Install the store client and sign in to the account that owns the game.
- Confirm that the destination drive has more free space than the listing’s requirement; updates need working room during installation.
- Start the download, allow the base game and listed downloadable content to finish, and install all available updates.
- Launch the game while connected to the internet. Square Enix states that internet access and Steam account registration are required to play the PC game.
4. Set graphics without overpromising performance
Begin with the benchmark’s tested preset, then adjust one group of options at a time. If the game struggles, lower output resolution or demanding effects before attempting an 8K or HDR10 configuration. A display must support HDR for HDR10 output to be useful, and the graphics card must have enough processing power and memory for the selected mode.

PC problems and practical fixes
- The installer says there is not enough space: check the destination drive, remove temporary files or choose another drive. Keep additional free space for patches rather than allocating only the stated game size.
- The game will not start: verify that the operating system, processor, graphics card, RAM and drivers meet the current store listing; then restart the PC and let the store client complete pending updates.
- Performance is lower than expected: repeat the official benchmark, close background applications, and reduce resolution or quality settings. Do not infer a guaranteed frame rate from another computer’s result.
- DLC appears missing: confirm that the installed product is Windows Edition, that every downloadable-content item finished installing, and that you are signed in to the purchasing account.
- You cannot play offline: Square Enix’s stated PC requirement is an internet connection and Steam registration, so complete account authentication before attempting offline use.
How to play Final Fantasy XV on PlayStation
Playing on PS4
Purchase FINAL FANTASY XV ROYAL EDITION for PS4. Install the game, apply its system and game updates, and allow the season-pass and Royal Pack downloads to complete. If you buy a disc, keep the disc available for the console’s ownership check; a digital purchase remains tied to the PlayStation account that bought it.
Playing the PS4 edition on PS5
PlayStation lists the Royal Edition as a PS4 product that can be played on PS5. This is backward-compatible PS4 software rather than a separately listed native PS5 release. PlayStation cautions: “To play this game on PS5, your system may need to be updated to the latest system software.” Update the console before troubleshooting installation, and expect that some PS4 features may not be present on PS5.

PlayStation storage
Square Enix’s support documentation lists 66.39 GB for a digital PS4 installation. The support page does not state the year of that figure, so treat it as a published reference rather than a guaranteed current download size. Reserve extra working space for updates and add-ons, and check the console’s free-space indicator before starting.
Comrades on PlayStation
Comrades is the online multiplayer expansion. Square Enix states that console play requires a PlayStation Plus subscription. Subscription names, prices and service availability can change, so check the current PlayStation store and membership page in your region before planning multiplayer sessions.

Xbox One
Choose FINAL FANTASY XV ROYAL EDITION for Xbox One. The Xbox store lists Final Fantasy XV for Xbox One, while Square Enix identifies Royal Edition as the complete console package. Install the base game, updates and all included add-ons before starting the Royal Pack quests or character episodes.

Xbox Series X|S
The Xbox store lists Final Fantasy XV for Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox’s backward-compatibility guidance says most Xbox One games are playable on Series X|S. If you own the digital Xbox One edition, open My games & apps, choose Full library, then Owned games or Ready to install and select the game. Menus can vary slightly with dashboard updates.
For a disc license, insert the Xbox One disc into a Series X console with a disc drive, allow the compatibility download to install, and leave the disc inserted whenever you play. A Series S has no disc drive, so disc ownership cannot be used directly there; use a digital license instead.
Xbox storage
Square Enix’s support page lists 23.74 GB for a digital Xbox One installation. The page does not state the year of that measurement. Current updates and downloadable content can require more space, so use the Xbox installation screen as the final check and keep free capacity beyond the published figure.

Comrades on Xbox
Square Enix states that console Comrades play requires Xbox Live Gold. Microsoft has changed the names and packaging of Xbox online services over time; verify the membership currently required by the Xbox store in your country before subscribing.

Storage figures are not interchangeable between platforms: compression, patches and downloadable content differ. Always trust the installation screen for the build you are actually downloading.

No platform is universally best. Select PC when your hardware and graphics preferences matter most; select the console edition that matches the system and account where you already own games and subscriptions.

- Using an Xbox disc on a Series S: Series S has no disc drive; a digital license is required.
- Treating the storage figures as permanent: the 66.39 GB and 23.74 GB values are Square Enix support figures with no year stated, while present-day updates can change the required space.
- Expecting the benchmark to guarantee a frame rate: it is a performance-estimation tool, and results depend on settings, drivers and background load.
- Forgetting the online requirement for Comrades: console multiplayer needs the applicable online membership, and PC play requires internet access and Steam registration.
