Remote Play can show a game running on your own PlayStation console on another device; it does not stream PC games to the PS5.
Can a PS5 run classic PC RPGs?
A PS5 is not a general-purpose Windows PC, so it cannot ordinarily run PC game installers or files from a PC storefront. To play a particular RPG, look for a PlayStation version of that title, then check whether that version is compatible with PS5 or currently available to stream.

For example, the US PlayStation Store lists several Beamdog classic RPG releases as PS4 products playable on PS5. These are examples, not a complete list of PC-origin RPGs. Store availability and compatibility details can differ by region and can change, so search the exact title in your regional PlayStation Store before buying.
Which classic PC RPGs have PS4 versions playable on PS5?

These listings establish a route to play those console editions; they do not make the PC versions usable on PS5. Check the listed platform and compatibility notes for the exact edition you intend to play.

How PS4 backward compatibility works
PlayStation says, “The overwhelming majority of the 4,000+ PS4 games are playable on PS5 consoles.” That is the scale of the PS4 catalog overall, not a count of classic RPG ports. Sony also warns that some PS4 functions may be unavailable and that some games can show errors or behave unexpectedly. If a game cannot run on PS5, its Store listing identifies it as “Playable on: PS4 only.” PlayStation’s PS5 backward-compatibility guidance has the current details.
For a digital PS4 game
- Sign in on PS5 to the PlayStation account that owns the game.
- Open your game library, find the title, and download it.
- Check the Store listing’s PS5 compatibility notes if you encounter missing features or unexpected behavior.
For a PS4 disc
You need a PS5 model with a disc drive, and the disc must remain inserted to play. A PS5 Digital Edition cannot read PS4 game discs. PS5 also does not support PS3 discs, so an older PlayStation disc is not itself a way to play a title on PS5.

Can you stream classic RPGs to a PS5?
PlayStation Plus streaming is an option only when the specific game is eligible in the current catalog, and availability depends on the membership plan and region. Catalog membership changes, so check the game’s current Store or catalog page before subscribing for one title. This is streaming for supported PlayStation games—not a way to send any game from a PC library to PS5.
Sony says 1080p streaming requires a game that supports that resolution and broadband of at least 15 Mbps. Streaming also has limitations: Remote Play is unavailable during a PlayStation Plus stream, mouse and keyboard are unsupported, queues may occur, and some console features and devices are not supported. Remote Play is different from streaming a PC game
PS Remote Play lets you display and control a PS4 or PS5 that you own or can access, using a supported PC, Mac, or mobile device. It does not install Windows compatibility on PS5 or connect the console to a remote PC. Sony lists a minimum connection speed of 5 Mbps for both upload and download, and notes that some games—including some requiring special equipment—are not compatible. Consult PlayStation’s Remote Play connection guidance and Remote Play compatibility information before relying on it for a particular game.
The official PlayStation support material cited here documents PlayStation Plus streaming and Remote Play; it does not establish a native PS5 client for GeForce NOW or another third-party PC cloud-gaming service. Do not assume those services provide a supported way to play PC RPGs on PS5.

Which option should you choose?
- A PlayStation port exists: This is usually the most direct route. Confirm the edition and PS5 compatibility note in your regional Store.
- You already own the PS4 game digitally: Sign in to the owning account and download it to PS5, subject to the game’s compatibility.
- You own a PS4 disc: Use a PS5 with a disc drive; the disc stays inserted during play.
- The title is in the PlayStation Plus streaming catalog: Check current eligibility, plan, and regional availability before paying.
- You want to play a console game on another screen: Remote Play can stream your own compatible console to another supported device, but it is not a PC-game streaming service.
