Choose an affordable gaming phone by checking how it performs in the games you actually play—not by choosing the biggest chip name or a “gaming” label. Compare game-specific results and sustained heat behavior, then confirm the exact memory and storage configuration, screen, battery and charging, software support, and whether the phone and seller are suitable for your country and carrier. The examples below show what published evidence can—and cannot—tell you; they are not a ranked list of current deals.

How should I choose an affordable gaming phone?

Start with your games, your maximum total spend, and where the phone needs to work. A phone that runs one lighter game smoothly may struggle with a demanding title, and a capable display cannot make a game render at a frame rate the phone or game does not support.

Use this order to narrow your options:

  1. Name your games and acceptable settings. Separate demanding titles from games you already know run well on modest hardware. Decide whether you care more about smooth play, high visual detail, or both.
  2. Set a total checkout limit. Include any compatible charger or other required accessory, plus shipping and applicable taxes. Compare the actual price for the precise variant and seller; an old launch price or a price from another market does not establish today’s local deal.
  3. Look for results in the same games. Prefer measurements that identify the game, graphics setting, and tested phone. Results from different games, settings, or review years are useful examples, not a controlled head-to-head.
  4. Check heat during sustained load. A peak result does not show whether performance stays steady through a longer session. Look for a review’s sustained-load findings and note whether a temperature is a surface measurement or another type of reading.
  5. Verify the exact variant and ownership details. Check RAM, built-in storage, screen, charging, updates, carrier acceptance, warranty, seller, and return terms for the exact model number and configuration being offered.

Keep a shortlist rather than treating one specification as a verdict. For each candidate, record the game and settings tested, frame-rate or consistency result, heat behavior, memory and storage, display, battery and charging, update commitment, local compatibility, and current checkout price. If an item has not been verified, leave it unverified instead of filling the gap with an estimate.

A practical comparison table should have one row per exact phone configuration, not merely one row per brand or product family. Add separate columns for actual game and graphics setting, average frame rate or consistency, sustained heat behavior, RAM and built-in storage, display refresh rate and readability, battery and compatible charging, update commitment, local carrier and seller status, and checkout total. This makes missing evidence visible: a blank or “not verified” cell is more useful than assuming two similarly named models behave alike.

Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
  • 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
  • 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
  • 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
  • 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)

Use the same maximum budget when weighing trade-offs. A lower listed price may not be the lower total cost if it is an imported model with shipping, a separately needed charger, or weaker return protection. Conversely, do not count a faster charging specification or an advertised gaming feature as a savings unless it addresses a need you actually have. Current comparable prices for the examples below have not been established, so check live local listings before deciding whether one is affordable for you.

Will it run my games smoothly?

The most useful evidence is a result for the game you care about, at a setting you would actually use, alongside information about sustained performance. A processor model or one peak frame-rate figure cannot answer that question by itself.

Read frame-rate results in context

Notebookcheck’s 2025 review of the POCO X7 Pro reported an average of 118.4 frames per second in PUBG Mobile’s Smooth setting. That is a result for that game and setting, not a promise for every game, graphics preset, or future game version. The same review separately recorded throttling in a stress test, so the frame-rate result should not be read as proof of unchanged performance under every sustained workload. Notebookcheck’s POCO X7 Pro review gives the test context.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

A different example shows why results cannot be transferred between games or phone models. Notebookcheck measured about 47.3fps on the Galaxy A56 5G in Genshin Impact at its highest tested detail setting, and about 118.6fps in Dead Trigger 2. These are results for two different games under their respective review conditions; neither figure predicts performance on the Galaxy A37 5G. They illustrate that game demands and settings matter. Notebookcheck’s Galaxy A56 review reports those measurements.

Prefer comparable tests

If you are deciding between two phones, look for measurements in the same game version and settings. Results gathered in separate reviews or different years can help you understand what to investigate, but they do not establish which phone is faster in a fair head-to-head. Game updates can also change performance, so check that a published test still resembles the version you play.

Frame-rate consistency matters as well as the average. A high average can conceal noticeable drops; sustained-load findings help show whether a device maintains performance or throttles. Do not treat a manufacturer’s cooling description as an independent measurement of gaming endurance.

Check how a reviewer describes the test before interpreting a number. An average frame rate, a peak result, and a stress-test finding answer different questions. The POCO review’s 118.4fps average in PUBG Mobile Smooth mode is tied to that game and setting; its separate stress-test throttling is a warning that performance can change under a different sustained workload. Neither result supplies a universal performance rating for every game. Look for the test method and conditions, and avoid comparing unlike measurements as if they were taken side by side.

Do I need a 120Hz phone for mobile games?

No. A 120Hz display is a screen capability, not a guarantee that a game will run at 120 frames per second. The game, phone, graphics settings, and sustained operating conditions all affect the result.

Samsung’s 2026 comparison material lists 120Hz displays for the Galaxy A27, A37, and A57, and a 90Hz display for the A17. Xiaomi’s POCO X7 Pro Game Turbo FAQ likewise distinguishes high-frame-rate support by game and identifies a different stated mode for BGMI. Those examples reinforce that screen refresh and game frame-rate support are separate questions. Samsung’s model comparison and Xiaomi’s German-market POCO X7 Pro product page document those details.

When comparing screens, check both the refresh rate and whether the game you play supports a mode that can use it. Also consider readability for your own use, rather than assuming a high refresh number settles the choice. A lower refresh specification is not, by itself, proof that a phone cannot run a particular game smoothly.

In other words, treat refresh rate as one piece of the screen specification, then separately verify a game’s supported frame-rate modes. Xiaomi’s FAQ distinction, including a different stated BGMI mode, is a reminder that support can vary by title rather than following one phone-wide number. The listed refresh rate tells you what the display is capable of; it does not tell you which mode a particular game offers or whether the phone sustains that mode in a long session.

How much RAM and storage do I need?

Compare the exact configuration offered, because a model name may cover more than one memory and storage variant. Choose built-in storage with your existing apps and the number of large games you intend to keep in mind; there is no universal required game-install size established here.

Samsung lists the Galaxy A37 5G in 6GB RAM/128GB storage and 8GB RAM/256GB storage configurations, and says the A37 has no memory-card expansion. If you expect to keep several large games installed, the larger built-in-storage version may be more convenient. That is a storage-planning consideration, not a claim that every buyer needs 256GB or that a given game requires a particular amount.

Before checkout, make sure the listing’s RAM and built-in storage match the configuration you intend to buy. The product family name alone may not identify the variant. Samsung’s configuration information appears in its U.S. model comparison.

RAM and storage are separate checks. A listing that identifies a phone as “8GB/256GB” is describing both memory and built-in storage; confirm that exact pairing rather than assuming the larger configuration from the model name. Storage expansion also should not be assumed: Samsung says the A37 does not have memory-card expansion. If you expect to rotate among several large games, compare the built-in capacity available and how you use the phone, without treating any one capacity as a universal minimum.

How should I compare battery life and charging?

Battery capacity and charging wattage describe useful specifications, but neither establishes how many hours a phone will last while gaming. Do not convert capacity into a runtime estimate without a relevant test.

Samsung lists the Galaxy A37 5G with a 5,000mAh battery and up to 45W wired charging. Xiaomi lists the POCO X7 Pro with a 6,000mAh battery and up to 90W charging. These are manufacturer-listed specifications, not comparable gaming-runtime results. Notebookcheck also recorded a peak measured surface temperature of 44.5°C for the POCO X7 Pro under its load test; that is the review’s test result, not a prediction of the temperature at a particular player’s hand or room. Samsung’s comparison, Xiaomi’s POCO product page, and Notebookcheck’s review describe these figures.

Check what charging method and compatible charger are included with the specific phone and listing. A charger’s wattage alone does not establish that it will deliver the phone’s stated maximum rate; protocol compatibility matters. Compare charging claims as capabilities, not as a substitute for real-world endurance information.

The POCO’s larger listed capacity does not prove it will provide a specific number of additional gaming hours over the A37. These are specifications from different manufacturers, not matched runtime tests under the same game, settings, brightness, and conditions. Likewise, the POCO’s 44.5°C result was a measured peak surface temperature during Notebookcheck’s load test; it should not be converted into a promise about what your hands or room will feel like. For comfort and sustained performance, look for the review’s test conditions as well as the number.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

If a separate charger is part of your budget, check that it is compatible with the phone’s charging protocol as well as its wattage. A compatible 45W USB-C charger may be relevant beside a phone listing that supports up to 45W wired charging, but the wattage label alone does not guarantee the maximum rate. Include any required accessory in the total checkout calculation rather than comparing phone prices in isolation.

Which phone examples are worth investigating?

These examples show how to weigh manufacturer specifications against independent game measurements. They are not a ranked current top three: current comparable checkout prices have not been established, and the available evidence does not include a gaming test for every model.

Phone What is documented What that does not establish
Samsung Galaxy A37 5G Samsung lists a 120Hz display, 5,000mAh battery, up to 45W wired charging, and 6GB/128GB or 8GB/256GB configurations. No A37 gaming frame-rate result or current price is established here. The specifications do not predict gaming runtime. Samsung U.S. comparison.
POCO X7 Pro Xiaomi’s German-market product material lists a Dimensity 8400-Ultra, 120Hz AMOLED screen, 6,000mAh battery, and up to 90W charging. Notebookcheck measured an average 118.4fps in PUBG Mobile Smooth mode and reported throttling in a separate stress test. The German-market product page does not establish U.S. carrier compatibility or U.S. pricing. The PUBG result does not predict other games or settings. Xiaomi product page; Notebookcheck review.
Samsung Galaxy A56 5G Notebookcheck published game measurements including about 47.3fps in Genshin Impact at its highest tested detail setting and about 118.6fps in Dead Trigger 2. Samsung states up to six generations of OS upgrades and up to six years of security updates. Those game results belong to the A56 and its review conditions, not the A37. Samsung’s statement is not an equivalent commitment for every model. Its historical launch price does not establish a current bargain. Notebookcheck review; Samsung U.S. product page.

For a U.S. buyer considering an imported listing, verify the exact model’s carrier acceptance and bands, then check the seller, warranty, and return terms before buying. The POCO example is based on German-market manufacturer material; it is not evidence that a particular imported unit will work with a U.S. carrier. Likewise, manufacturer availability of an A37 configuration does not establish a current price or measured gaming performance.

Use the A37 as an example of documented specifications, not a performance verdict: Samsung’s 2026 comparison identifies the 8GB/256GB version as well as a 6GB/128GB version, plus the display and power specifications, but it does not supply an independent A37 game result here. The POCO X7 Pro provides a different kind of evidence, with independent PUBG Mobile measurements, but its cited Xiaomi product page is German-market material. Neither example is automatically the right purchase for a buyer in another country.

The Galaxy A56 shows why a prior-generation or discounted option can deserve a look without assuming it is a bargain. Notebookcheck’s 2025 game results demonstrate that demanding and less demanding games can produce very different outcomes on one phone. Samsung’s U.S. statement for the A56 specifies up to six OS generations and six years of security updates. That support commitment is valuable information for this model, but should not be carried over to the A37 or another device without a model-specific statement. Consider a discounted A56 only after checking its current price against alternatives.

What should I check before buying?

Use the listing and manufacturer support information to verify the exact phone, not just the family name. Confirm the deal in your own market and retain a way to return the phone if the listing or compatibility details do not match what arrives.

  • Variant: Confirm RAM, built-in storage, region/model number, and color or other configuration details that affect the listing.
  • Game evidence: Check the title, graphics setting, phone model, and review date for any published performance result you rely on.
  • Screen and settings: Verify refresh capability, but also look for the game’s supported frame-rate modes.
  • Power: Check battery and charging specifications, included accessories, and whether a separately purchased charger is compatible.
  • Ownership: Read the applicable software-update commitment rather than assuming support is the same across a brand’s models.
  • Local purchase: For imported phones, check carrier acceptance and bands for the exact unit, plus warranty coverage, seller identity, return period, shipping, and total checkout cost.

As one model-specific software example, Samsung says the Galaxy A56 5G supports up to six generations of OS upgrades and up to six years of security updates on its U.S. product page. This commitment is stated for that phone; do not transfer it to another Galaxy model or to the POCO X7 Pro without model-specific confirmation. Samsung’s Galaxy A56 product page.

Before paying for an imported phone, identify the exact model and regional variant, not just the retail name. Check carrier acceptance and bands for that unit, then confirm who provides the warranty, whether the seller will accept a return, and what the return window and shipping costs are. These checks matter particularly when a manufacturer page describes a market other than yours. Do not treat a low foreign-market price as a U.S. deal until you can compare the actual local checkout cost and protections.

Finally, distinguish an official specification from an independent result. Samsung’s display, configuration, battery, and charging details for the A37 are manufacturer-listed; Notebookcheck’s A56 and POCO gaming measurements are review results tied to stated games and conditions. Each can help answer a different part of the buying question. Neither category alone tells you the current price, local compatibility, or performance in every game.

Frequently Asked Questions

How to choose an affordable gaming phone for mobile games?

Start with the games you play and the maximum total spend, then compare game-specific tests and sustained heat behavior. Verify the exact RAM and storage variant, display, charging, updates, seller, warranty, and local carrier compatibility. A gaming label or peak specification is not a substitute for those checks.

Will it run my games smoothly?

Look for a measured result for the same game and settings you plan to use, and check whether performance stays consistent under sustained load. A result from another title, phone, or setting is not a promise for your game.

Do I need a 120Hz phone for mobile games?

No. A 120Hz display is a screen capability, not a guarantee of 120 frames per second. Game-specific support, settings, phone performance, and sustained conditions also matter.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

How much RAM and storage do I need?

Check the exact configuration and your own app and game-library needs; there is no universal game-install size established here. For example, Samsung lists the A37 in 6GB/128GB and 8GB/256GB configurations and says it has no memory-card expansion.

Can I compare frame-rate numbers from two different phone reviews?

Only cautiously: the games, versions, settings, and review conditions may differ, so the figures are not a controlled comparison. For a buying decision, seek tests of both phones in the same game and settings.

Does a higher battery capacity mean longer gaming sessions?

Not by itself. Gaming runtime is not established by capacity alone, so look for a relevant runtime test rather than turning a milliamp-hour figure into an hours estimate.

Should I buy an imported phone if the price looks lower?

First verify that the exact model is accepted by your carrier and supports the bands needed where you live. Then check who handles warranty service and whether the seller’s return policy protects you if compatibility or condition differs from the listing.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Does a phone’s maximum charging wattage tell me what charger to buy?

Check the compatible charging protocol and what is included with the exact listing. Wattage alone does not establish that a separate charger will deliver the phone’s stated maximum rate.

The Bottom Line

Choose by the games you play, comparable results and sustained behavior—not by a “gaming” label, one chip name, or a 120Hz screen alone. Confirm the exact configuration, charging compatibility, software support, current total price, and local carrier and seller protections. Treat the Galaxy A37’s listed specifications as specifications, not a gaming test, and verify imported-device compatibility before buying.
