You can pair AirPods with a Samsung TV if the TV supports Bluetooth audio. Put the AirPods into pairing mode, open the TV’s Bluetooth audio device list, and select them. The exact menu names depend on the TV model and software.
Pair AirPods with your Samsung TV
- Put the AirPods in pairing mode. For AirPods 1, 2, or 3 and AirPods Pro 1 or 2, place them in the case, open the lid, then press and hold the setup button on the back until the status light flashes white. For AirPods Max, hold the listening-mode button until the light flashes white. Newer case designs may use a double-tap on the front of the case to make the light flash white. Follow Apple’s instructions for your exact model in its AirPods pairing guide.
- Open the TV’s Bluetooth audio list. A common route on many models is Settings > All Settings > Sound > Sound Output > Bluetooth Speaker List. Menu labels vary by model year: Samsung lists that path for 2023–2026 TVs, while 2022 models may use Menu > Settings > All Settings > Sound > Sound Output > Bluetooth Speaker List. Other models may put Bluetooth Devices under Connections or use older Sound/Speaker Settings menus. See Samsung’s Bluetooth audio instructions and TV Bluetooth guide.
- Select the AirPods. Choose them when they appear in the available devices list and confirm Pair or Connect if prompted. The TV should show them as connected.
- Set them as the sound output. If the TV picture plays but sound still comes from the speakers, open Sound Output and select the AirPods or Bluetooth device. Samsung says sound routes to the selected Bluetooth device; on some models, turning off connected headphones returns sound to the TV speakers. See Samsung’s Bluetooth headphone guidance.
Check whether your Samsung TV supports Bluetooth audio
AirPods work as a Bluetooth headset with non-Apple devices, as Apple explains in its pairing instructions. That does not guarantee that every Samsung TV can connect to them. Samsung advises checking the television’s specifications or manual if you cannot find a Bluetooth audio option. Compatibility can vary, and Samsung warns that some headphones designed only for mobile devices may not pair with a TV. See its Bluetooth audio troubleshooting and compatibility guidance.
Menu paths and screenshots can also differ by model and software version. If the Bluetooth Speaker List is missing, look in the TV’s manual or specifications for Bluetooth audio support rather than assuming the setting is simply hidden.
If AirPods do not appear or connect
- Confirm pairing mode. Make sure the AirPods are actively discoverable; for the models in Apple’s instructions, the status light flashes white when they are ready to pair.
- Bring them closer and scan again. Keep the AirPods near the TV and refresh or rescan the device list if that option appears. Walls, furniture, distance, and radio interference can weaken Bluetooth connections, according to Samsung.
- Check the selected output. If the TV reports a connection but audio remains on its speakers, select the AirPods under Sound Output.
- Update the TV software. If the TV supports Bluetooth audio and problems persist, check for a software update, then retry pairing.
Samsung notes that Bluetooth can disconnect with distance or interference and that lip-sync errors may occur. Its guidance does not provide a measured AirPods-to-TV latency figure or establish performance for a particular AirPods and TV combination, so do not assume audio and video will always stay perfectly synchronized.

Use a Bluetooth transmitter if the TV lacks Bluetooth audio
A Bluetooth transmitter may be a workaround if the TV does not support Bluetooth audio. Samsung says an adapter may connect through a 3.5 mm audio output or standard left/right AUX outputs. Check which ports your TV actually has, and verify that the transmitter accepts that connection and works in transmit mode. An adapter is not guaranteed to fit every TV; Samsung’s Bluetooth device guide describes this as a possible option.
Can the TV connect to two Bluetooth audio devices?
Samsung’s support guidance is not uniform: one page says a TV connects to one Bluetooth audio device at a time, while other guidance says some models manufactured from 2022 can connect two. Check the manual for your exact model before relying on simultaneous listening; the feature is not a safe assumption for every Samsung TV.
