DoorDash announced a grocery-shopping app inside ChatGPT on December 17, 2025. You can use ChatGPT to plan a meal or make a grocery list, turn the ingredients into a DoorDash cart, then review the products and complete checkout on DoorDash. The stores, items, fees and delivery options you see depend on your address and current availability.
How DoorDash grocery shopping in ChatGPT works
The integration links meal planning in ChatGPT to DoorDash’s grocery ordering and checkout. Start with a recipe, meal idea or list, then ask to use DoorDash to shop for the ingredients. Review the suggested products in the cart; checkout takes place on DoorDash, rather than being completed entirely inside ChatGPT.

- Ask ChatGPT for a recipe, meal plan or grocery list.
- Open or invoke the DoorDash app in ChatGPT and ask it to shop for the needed ingredients.
- Review the available products and adjust the cart as needed.
- Continue to DoorDash to select the available delivery options and complete checkout.
DoorDash describes delivery in as little as an hour, but that is not a guaranteed arrival time. Store availability, inventory and delivery conditions affect what is offered for a given address.
Which grocery stores are available?
DoorDash’s launch announcement named nationwide retailers such as Kroger and Safeway, as well as regional stores including Bi-Rite, Schnucks, Fairway Markets and Wegmans. A separate announcement said Kroger’s full grocery assortment would become available through DoorDash beginning October 1, including banners such as Mariano’s, Fred Meyer, Ralphs and Harris Teeter.

Entering or confirming your delivery address and checking the options shown in the DoorDash cart is the practical way to see participating nearby stores. Inventory, substitutions, delivery windows and fees can also vary.
Does DoorDash deliver groceries from Kroger?
DoorDash announced that Kroger’s full grocery assortment would become available through DoorDash beginning October 1, with Mariano’s, Fred Meyer, Ralphs and Harris Teeter among the named banners. Whether a particular store can fulfill an order to your address—and what products and delivery choices it offers—depends on local coverage and current inventory.
How this differs from placing an ordinary grocery order
The distinctive step is using ChatGPT to move from a conversational request—such as a recipe or meal plan—to a grocery cart. DoorDash says its related Ask DoorDash feature can suggest carts using dietary preferences, budget, group size and past orders, but availability for that feature is limited by platform and location.

DoorDash checkout remains on DoorDash. That distinction matters if you are comparing grocery options: the ordering flow, participating retailers, local stock, delivery fees, substitutions and customer support can differ between services. OpenAI also describes an Instacart grocery experience with Instant Checkout, so the two integrations do not necessarily use the same checkout flow.
What DoorDash says about grocery use
DoorDash reported that more than 30% of its monthly active users in the U.S. shopped across retail and grocery as of December 2025, and that tens of thousands of retail stores were available on DoorDash in the U.S. at that time. These are company-reported figures; they describe DoorDash’s broader retail and grocery business, not the number of ChatGPT users or stores available through this specific integration.
