You can move a 24/7 YouTube loop from an Indian VPS to Gyre by uploading the original video files to Gyre, configuring its YouTube connection, and verifying Gyre’s feed in YouTube Live Control Room before stopping the VPS encoder. The videos and playlist on the VPS do not transfer automatically. If keeping the existing YouTube event and watch URL matters, confirm the connection path with Gyre first: its channel-authorization workflow creates broadcasts through YouTube’s API, and URL continuity for an existing event is not established.
What changes when you move the stream
With a VPS setup, your encoder on the server sends the loop to YouTube. With Gyre, the service runs the loop from uploaded media in its cloud. You must upload the source video files into Gyre storage—even if those videos have already been published on YouTube. A YouTube link or the VPS playlist by itself is not the media transfer.
The migration has two separate parts: moving and checking the media, then directing Gyre to the intended YouTube broadcast. Plan both before you stop the VPS.
Before switching: identify the event and protect the key
Write down the current YouTube watch URL or scheduled event, title and metadata, visibility, stream-key association, resolution and frame rate, audio settings, and whether YouTube auto-start or auto-stop is enabled. Keep the stream key private. YouTube describes it as the credential and address that lets an encoder send a feed; owners or managers can reset it if it is exposed. See YouTube Help: Manage live stream settings.

Decide whether you must keep the current event and viewer URL. Gyre documents both channel authorization and manual configuration, but its API-based workflow creates broadcasts and does not establish that it can take over every existing live event while preserving its URL. If continuity is essential, ask Gyre to confirm the exact event and key arrangement before scheduling the cutover.
Upload and check the loop media
- Locate the original files. Use the video files that the VPS loop plays; do not rely on YouTube watch links as substitutes. Gyre’s help center says media must be uploaded to its storage and identifies pre-recorded video as the stream input: Gyre video encoding requirements.
- Upload the files to Gyre. The time required depends on your files and connection; the VPS provider, transfer method, and bandwidth costs are not specified here. Keep the VPS running while uploads and configuration are in progress.
- Build or select the playlist. Gyre describes looping playlists and a built-in converter. Review its file report or conversion results before launch. For a mixed playlist, check for compatible output resolution, frame rate, and audio settings. Gyre’s API guide says its interface checks media parameters and reports mismatches: Gyre API guide.
Do not treat an older Gyre help article’s encoding suggestions as universal, current YouTube requirements. Check YouTube’s current encoder guidance for the format you plan to send: YouTube Help: Encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions.

Choose how Gyre connects to YouTube
| Choice | How it works | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Channel authorization | Gyre’s guide describes selecting YouTube, authorizing the Google account that owns the channel, granting broadcast access, choosing the channel, entering metadata, selecting an existing stream key or allowing Gyre to create one, and adding uploaded files or a playlist. Gyre says this route creates broadcasts through YouTube’s API and automates metadata and start/stop handling. Gyre API guide | Confirm which broadcast will be created and whether it meets your event and watch-URL needs. Do not assume it will preserve the existing event. |
| Manual setup | Gyre’s manual instructions describe scheduling a YouTube stream, choosing visibility and auto-start/optional auto-stop settings, then entering the stream key and stream ID in Gyre. Gyre manual setup instructions | Confirm the stream ID and key refer to the intended scheduled event, and that Gyre is configured to send to it. YouTube’s encoder guidance explains the stream URL and key connection: YouTube Help: Go live with an encoder. |
The channel-authorization route is the more automated route described by Gyre. Manual setup makes the scheduled event and key explicit, so it is the route to investigate when you need to target a particular pre-created event. In either case, check Gyre’s current interface; the manual help article may use labels that have since changed.
Check YouTube eligibility before the migration window
YouTube requires channel verification and no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. Enabling live streaming for the first time may take up to 24 hours. If this channel has never streamed, enable and verify the feature well before the planned change: YouTube Help: Get started with live streaming.

Cut over without stopping the VPS too early
- Choose a planned window. Leave the VPS stream available while you finish the uploads and Gyre configuration. Confirm which YouTube event Gyre is meant to serve.
- Start the Gyre output. Use the start or go-live control in the current Gyre interface for the connection path you selected. Avoid sending from both VPS and Gyre to the same event or key at once unless you have verified that exact configuration.
- Inspect the result in both services. Check Gyre’s status and YouTube Live Control Room preview. Confirm the intended video and playlist, audio, metadata, visibility, and viewer page. YouTube recommends previewing and monitoring the stream: YouTube Help: Live streaming tips.
- Stop the VPS encoder only after confirmation. If Gyre is serving the intended event and playback is correct, stop the old sender promptly. If Gyre created a new broadcast, share the new watch page where needed; available documentation does not establish that the old URL will redirect or remain active.
YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours are automatically archived when they end. Do not rely on one continuously running loop becoming an indefinitely preserved VOD; arrange separate recording or archiving if you need a lasting copy. See YouTube Help: Archive live streams.

Secure and monitor the new connection
If Gyre’s selected workflow exposes RTMPS and the connection supports it, use it. YouTube describes RTMPS as RTMP carried over TLS/SSL. Get the RTMPS URL from Live Control Room rather than guessing it: YouTube encoder settings. If the key was exposed, reset it in YouTube Studio and update whichever service uses it.
YouTube recommends available upload bandwidth above the stream’s total bitrate, with a 20% margin. That advice applies to the VPS sender and other encoder paths; once media is uploaded, your home or office connection is not carrying Gyre’s cloud-delivered live stream. See YouTube encoder settings and Gyre’s description of its cloud service at Gyre.

Troubleshoot common migration problems
- Gyre cannot find a video or playlist: the VPS playlist or YouTube links are not a substitute for files in Gyre storage. Upload the source media and select those uploaded files.
- Gyre reports incompatible media: inspect its file report and conversion results, then check resolution, frame rate, and audio compatibility across the playlist before starting.
- The stream appears on a different event or URL: check whether channel authorization created a new broadcast. If preserving the old event matters, stop and verify the manual event/key arrangement with Gyre rather than assuming the URL will carry over.
- YouTube does not accept the stream: verify that live streaming is enabled, the channel is eligible, and the key and stream ID correspond to the intended scheduled event. Reset an exposed key and update Gyre if necessary.
- The preview is black, silent, or shows the wrong content: check Gyre’s selected playlist and media report, then verify the preview before stopping the VPS sender.
- The stream drops or ends unexpectedly: check whether the VPS encoder is still sending, whether competing senders are involved, and whether YouTube auto-stop or event settings match the plan. The behavior of multiple senders depends on configuration; avoid guessing and test the intended arrangement.
- A new watch page is live but viewers use the old one: if the move created a new broadcast, update links and scheduled announcements. Do not assume the old page redirects.
Or let it run in the cloud
If the goal is simply to keep uploaded videos looping live on YouTube without maintaining your own VPS encoder, StreamNeo is another cloud option. The steps are: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; the stream runs from the cloud, supports the uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. See StreamNeo for details, then start the free first day.
