A 75-inch screen does not tell you which wall mount fits. Before buying hardware or drilling, find the TV’s exact model number and check its VESA hole pattern, weight without the stand, required screw size and depth, and any mounting restrictions in the manufacturer’s manual or support page. Then match those details to the mount and to your wall.
1. Find your TV’s mounting specifications
Locate the model number on the TV’s label, in its settings, or on your purchase records. Use that exact model to open the manufacturer’s manual or support page. Record these details before shopping:
- VESA pattern: the horizontal and vertical spacing between the TV’s mounting holes, in millimeters. A pattern of 400 × 300 mm, for example, means the holes are 400 mm apart horizontally and 300 mm vertically.
- Weight without the stand: compare this with the mount’s stated TV-load capacity. Do not use the shipping weight or assume the diagonal determines the load.
- Screw diameter and depth: these are specific to the TV and may be listed as a screw size and length. A screw that is too long or otherwise unsuitable can damage the TV or weaken the connection.
- Special restrictions: check for instructions about mounting orientation, spacers, ventilation, or compatible brackets.
For example, Roku’s model chart lists the 75R4A5R / 65R4AX entry at 50 lb, 400 × 300 mm VESA, and M6 × 16 mm, while its 75R8B5 / 75R8BX entry is 83 lb, 400 × 400 mm, and M6 × 14 mm. The 75R8CX entry is 82 lb, 400 × 400 mm, and M6 × 14 mm. The combined model labels in the chart can be confusing, so verify the exact model rather than applying a neighboring entry. These figures are examples for the listed Roku models, not specifications for 75-inch TVs generally (Roku’s TV mounting guide and model chart).
2. Match the mount to the TV and wall
Check the mount’s manual and product specifications against your TV’s details and the intended wall. Screen-size range, VESA compatibility, load capacity, and permitted wall-installation method are separate checks; passing one does not guarantee the others.

Do not assume all 75-inch TVs share one VESA pattern or that a mount advertised for 75-inch screens necessarily fits your model. As one product example—not a general recommendation—VIVO lists its PRO-TVHA90 for 75–90-inch displays, with a 200 × 200 mm to 800 × 600 mm VESA range and a 132–198 lb capacity. Those vendor-published specifications still need to be checked against the specific TV and home (VIVO PRO-TVHA90 product listing).
Roku recommends considering a mount certified by an independent laboratory such as UL, CSA/CS, or ETL. Verify the actual certification mark and listing for the product rather than relying only on a generic certification claim (Roku’s TV mounting guide).

3. Choose fixed, tilting, or full-motion movement
Pick a mount based on where people sit, the TV’s position, and the access you need—not on a rule that one style is always best.
- Fixed: holds the screen in one position. Check the TV’s position relative to seating and confirm there is enough room for cables and any needed access behind the set.
- Tilt: lets you angle the screen vertically. This can help when the TV is mounted higher than the viewers’ seated eye line.
- Full-motion or swivel: allows the screen to turn and/or extend away from the wall. Consider the clearance needed for movement, nearby furniture, cable routing, and whether adjusting the TV will help with viewing angle or glare.
For any style, check the mount’s permitted movement and clearances in its instructions, and make sure the installed position does not block ventilation, ports, or access you need.

4. Confirm that your wall can support the installation
Wall suitability depends on both the wall construction and the specific mount. Read that mount’s instructions for permitted wall materials, attachment points, fasteners, and spacing. Do not assume drywall by itself can carry the TV, and do not substitute a generic anchor recommendation for the mount maker’s specified method.
Samsung says its wall mount should be attached to a stud, while also discussing toggle bolts for cases where the installer does not attach to a stud if the wall can hold the TV’s weight. The appropriate method depends on the wall and installation; follow the instructions for the mount you are using, not a general rule taken from another product (Samsung’s wall-mounting guide).

Some product instructions set requirements that apply only to that product. For instance, the SS-75 manual says not to mount its product on drywall or plywood alone and specifies that the wall structure must support at least five times that product’s 100 lb (45 kg) maximum TV load. This is an SS-75 requirement, not a universal building rule or a standard for other mounts (SS-75 installation instructions).
If you cannot identify suitable attachment points, confirm the wall material, or understand the permitted installation method, ask the mount or TV manufacturer or hire a qualified installer. Sony’s recommendation that a qualified professional install the TV applies to the specified models covered by its support page, not every TV (Sony’s compatible brackets and screw-pattern guidance).

5. Set a comfortable height before drilling
Measure from the floor to the center of the screen, using the main seating position as your reference. Samsung gives about 42 inches from the floor to the screen center as an approximate reference for a viewer around 5 feet 6 inches tall seated on a standard couch. It also suggests leaving about 4–6 inches above furniture when appropriate. Treat these as starting points, not universal dimensions: seated eye level, furniture height, room layout, glare, and the mount’s movement all affect placement (Samsung’s placement guidance).
Before marking holes, check the TV’s full width and height, the mount’s position, nearby furniture, and where cables will run. If using a tilting or full-motion mount, account for how the screen will sit and move once installed.
6. Prepare and install with a second person
Gather the TV and mount instructions, a compatible mount, the correct TV screws and specified wall fasteners, a level, and the tools required by the instructions. Samsung’s listed tools for its described installation include a stud finder, carpenter’s level, screwdriver, and drill; use only tools and fasteners appropriate to your own wall and mount (Samsung’s tool and installation guidance).
- Review both manuals. Confirm the TV’s VESA pattern and screw specification, the mount’s supported load and wall method, and any model-specific cautions.
- Plan and mark the position. Measure the intended screen height and layout. Identify and verify the attachment points using the method and tools required by the mount instructions.
- Install the wall plate. Use the fasteners and procedure specified for the actual wall construction. Do not proceed if you cannot verify that the wall and attachment points meet the instructions.
- Attach the brackets to the TV. Use the correct screws and any specified spacers; do not force a screw or substitute a longer one to make it fit.
- Lift and secure the TV. Use a second person to position the screen and engage the mount as directed. Roku advises using two people to wall-mount the TV safely or contacting a professional service for help (Roku’s mounting tips).
- Check the finished installation. Follow the mount’s instructions for securing the TV and checking its movement or adjustment. Keep the manuals available for any future repositioning or removal.
Replacement screw kits may be available, but do not treat an all-size kit as universal. Check the exact TV and mount documentation before buying replacement screws: Roku and Sony emphasize model-specific fit, while Samsung discusses replacement screws and universal kits (Roku; Samsung; Sony).
