You can monetize a 24/7 prerecorded YouTube stream in India only after YouTube accepts your channel into the YouTube Partner Program (YPP) and the channel meets YouTube’s monetization policies. Then you can create and monitor the broadcast in Live Control Room, enable monetization for the stream, and choose how to handle mid-roll ads. Neither YPP eligibility nor an enabled ad setting guarantees that ads will serve or that the stream will earn money. A key planning issue: YouTube says streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all, so do not rely on a single continuous broadcast for a complete YouTube replay.
Check YPP eligibility before planning revenue
YouTube’s India-facing monetization page lists the following channel thresholds for ad revenue eligibility: 1,000 subscribers and either 4,000 qualified public watch hours from long-form videos in the previous 365 days or 10 million qualified public Shorts views in the previous 90 days. Meeting a threshold does not itself approve a channel. YouTube reviews channels for policy compliance and other account and feature requirements; acceptance into YPP and the relevant monetization terms are required. Use the Earn area in YouTube Studio to check your channel’s current eligibility and available features. Requirements can differ by feature, and availability is account-specific. Do not treat a live broadcast as a shortcut around the YPP review: the channel as a whole must qualify.

YouTube’s monetization policies distinguish copyright permission from monetization eligibility. A creator can have permission to use material and still fail the reused-content review if the channel does not add enough original contribution. YouTube also describes repetitive or mass-produced material with little meaningful variation as “inauthentic content.” Reviewers may consider the channel’s videos, descriptions, titles, and overall presentation, and the policy applies channel-wide. A 24/7 schedule alone does not establish that a channel violates policy. The practical question is whether viewers receive original value rather than a minimally changed loop of existing material. Build a program with meaningful original commentary, substantive editing, or educational or entertainment value, and make the channel’s contribution clear. Simply assembling existing clips into a continuous loop does not prove that the channel meets monetization standards.
Before going live, confirm that you have the rights needed to use the video, audio, artwork, and other material. Then assess the separate monetization question: what meaningful original contribution does your channel make? These are related checks, but one does not replace the other.

Create and start the stream in Live Control Room
YouTube supports encoder-based streaming with software or professional hardware. Hardware is an option for productions that need it, not a YPP requirement. The steps below describe the YouTube-side workflow; encoder menus vary by software and hardware. Use YouTube’s current encoder setup instructions for the applicable encoder details.
- Open Live Control Room. In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go live. Create a stream under the Stream tab, or schedule one under Manage.
- Connect the encoder. Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for the YouTube stream into the corresponding output fields in your encoder. Treat the key as a credential: do not publish or share it. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.
- Send the prerecorded program. Set the encoder to play the intended prerecorded program output and begin sending it to YouTube. The precise encoder settings depend on your software or hardware; follow its current YouTube-compatible setup guidance rather than assuming one setting suits every source and connection.
- Check the incoming stream before starting. Wait for the preview in Live Control Room. Confirm that the intended video and audio are present, then start the stream and monitor stream health and audio/video quality while it runs.
- Enable monetization if the channel is eligible. Open the stream’s monetization controls and turn monetization on. Choose the mid-roll approach that fits the program (options are covered below).
- Review performance. Use YouTube Analytics and its Live filter to inspect live performance and revenue data after and during eligible broadcasts.
YouTube’s live-streaming tips describe software encoding as supported and professional-grade hardware encoders as an option for higher-production-value events. Buying an encoder does not confer YPP eligibility or resolve a content-policy issue.

Choose ad settings without assuming a payout
When monetization is on for an eligible live stream, pre-roll and display ads are enabled automatically. You can use automatic mid-rolls, schedule placements, or insert them manually. YouTube recommends automatic mid-rolls; scheduled and manual placements can provide more control over timing, but may reduce earnings potential. The ad system determines whether an eligible slot actually serves, so an enabled placement is not a guaranteed impression. See YouTube’s live-stream monetization guidance.

For a prerecorded program, consider how an interruption affects the viewer experience before choosing manual or scheduled placements. A placement setting creates an opportunity for an ad, not a promise that one will appear. The reviewed YouTube guidance does not establish a typical India CPM, income per viewer, or expected earnings for a 24/7 stream; do not use a fixed revenue estimate as a planning assumption.

Plan additional revenue features separately
Ads are not the only possible route, but fan-funding and other features have separate conditions. YouTube lists Super Chat and Super Stickers for eligible live streams, and channel memberships for channels meeting the applicable requirements. YouTube Premium revenue may apply to eligible content viewed by Premium subscribers. Shopping also has separate requirements. YouTube’s archive guidance says, “If your live stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all.” Streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, but that guidance does not promise a complete archive for an overlong continuous broadcast. - If viewers need a replay, record the program locally and verify that the recording is usable.
