You can reduce the risk of harmful Super Chats appearing while you are away, but YouTube does not document a setting that provides fully unattended human judgment. Super Chats and Super Stickers are moderated like ordinary live-chat messages. Turn on YouTube’s safeguards before you leave, and arrange for a trusted person to review chat if you need discretionary decisions during your absence.
What YouTube moderation can—and cannot—do for Super Chats
YouTube says Super Chats and Super Stickers can be moderated in the same way as live-chat messages. They are available on eligible live streams and Premieres when live chat is turned on. Its automatic filter can hold messages it identifies as potentially inappropriate, but YouTube warns that the filter is imperfect. A held message stays hidden unless someone chooses to show or hide it.
That distinction matters on an always-on stream: automatic controls can reduce exposure and give a moderator fewer messages to handle, but they do not guarantee that every harmful or paid message will be caught. In YouTube’s words, “No system is perfect, but this feature can make it easier for you to moderate live chat messages on your live stream.” YouTube does not publish an accuracy rate for the filter.

Choose a live-chat moderation level
In YouTube Studio, open the live-chat moderation settings and choose Basic or Strict for holding potentially inappropriate messages for review. Strict is intended to hold a broader range, which can also mean more messages need human review. Held messages remain hidden until a moderator or owner acts. Add blocked words and phrases
Use the channel’s blocked-words setting for terms or phrases that are clearly out of bounds in your community. Add likely variants where useful, but treat the list as a partial safeguard: wording changes and context can defeat simple text matching. YouTube documents blocked words as a native live-chat control in its moderation guidance.

Control the pace and participation
Consider slow mode if chat volume makes review difficult, or participation limits if the stream’s risk warrants restricting who can post. Slow mode reduces how frequently ordinary participants can send messages; channel owners, moderators, and members are not subject to the same delay. These controls manage volume, not the judgment needed to decide whether an individual message is acceptable. Details are in YouTube’s live-chat moderation guidance and live chat settings.

Arrange human coverage for the hours you are away
If someone must make judgment calls while you are offline, appoint a trusted moderator and agree on coverage times before the stream starts. Set expectations for which messages to remove, when to time out or hide a user, and when to contact you rather than taking further action. YouTube’s moderator roles guidance describes standard moderators’ ability to remove messages, issue timeouts, hide users, and review held messages.
Choose permissions deliberately. Managing moderators have additional options, but YouTube says they do not have access to Live Control Room or YouTube Studio. Set channel-wide or Studio-dependent controls as the owner in advance; do not assume a moderator can change those settings while you are away.

Use a phone for remote check-ins, not as a substitute for coverage
YouTube documents live-chat moderation and moderation-setting changes in its app. An owner or moderator can use the app to check in and act when available, as described in YouTube’s moderator guidance and live-chat guidance. A phone is an access route, not continuous monitoring: someone still has to open the chat and review it.
What third-party chatbots do—and what is not established
StreamElements documents a YouTube chatbot with spam filters; its YouTube setup instructions say the stream must be public and live for the bot to join. Streamlabs describes Cloudbot as a YouTube moderation tool and says to add Streamlabs as a moderator. These materials establish general chatbot and moderation functions, not that either service autonomously reviews, holds, or removes Super Chats while you are away. Check a tool’s current documentation for the exact feature before relying on it for paid-message review.

Know what happens to a Super Chat that is removed
Deleting a Super Chat after the live stream does not result in a refund. YouTube also says that when a Super Chat or Super Sticker is moderated and removed for policy violations, YouTube’s portion of the revenue is donated to charity. YouTube describes creators’ share as “70% of Supers revenue that is confirmed by Google,” calculated after local sales tax and iOS App Store fees; that is not an unqualified share of every purchase.
