You can move a 24/7 YouTube channel from Castr to Gyre by preparing Gyre’s uploaded-video playlist and YouTube connection, then making a planned cutover. The services use different workflows: Castr forwards a live source, while Gyre’s documented setup loops prerecorded videos from the cloud. Their documentation does not promise a seamless handoff, continued use of the same live watch page, or zero downtime, so plan for a possible interruption.

What changes when you move from Castr to Gyre

Area Castr Gyre
How the stream is produced Forwards a live source supplied to Castr. Castr says this depends on a continuously live source, an active subscription, and adequate streaming bandwidth. Castr’s 24/7 streaming guide Uses uploaded prerecorded video arranged into a playlist and run continuously through its cloud workflow. Gyre’s 24/7 streaming page
YouTube connection Supports connecting through YouTube authorization or configuring a server and stream key. Castr’s YouTube connection guide Documents channel authorization and selection of an existing stream key or creation of a new one. Gyre’s YouTube API update
What you must prepare The live source and its delivery to Castr must remain available. Video files, a playlist, and the YouTube connection required by the selected setup. Gyre’s help center guide index
Cross-service handoff The cited service and YouTube documentation does not establish that an active Castr broadcast can be transferred to Gyre without interruption or while keeping the same active watch page.

The practical consequence is that this is a change in how the stream is produced, not a direct transfer of Castr’s live input into Gyre. If the channel currently relays a camera, encoder, or another live feed through Castr, decide whether a playlist of prerecorded material is an acceptable replacement before scheduling the change.

Prepare Gyre and YouTube before the cutover

  1. Document the current setup. Note what generates the Castr source, how Castr connects to YouTube, and which YouTube event or watch page viewers use. Castr’s own start-stream guide may help identify the current workflow: How to Start a Live Stream in Castr.
  2. Upload the intended videos to Gyre. Choose the files that should play after the switch. Gyre’s documented 24/7 workflow is based on uploaded prerecorded videos, rather than taking over Castr’s existing live input.
  3. Build and check the playlist. Arrange the videos in the intended order and review Gyre’s setup and scheduling guidance. Its help center index lists separate guides for manual setup, channel authorization, scheduling, and preparing videos: Gyre help center. Do not assume that Castr’s source configuration or stream key becomes a Gyre playlist or credential automatically.
  4. Choose the YouTube connection method in Gyre. Follow the manual or YouTube-authorized workflow available for your account. If using a stream URL and key, treat the key as a private credential: YouTube says these are entered in the encoder or streaming application that sends the feed. If you reset the key, update the application that sends the stream. See YouTube’s encoder setup guide.
  5. Review the broadcast details. Confirm the title, description, privacy, and other intended settings in YouTube Studio or the Gyre authorization flow. YouTube permits reusing stream settings, which copies metadata, settings, and the key to a new stream; it does not mean the existing Castr broadcast is preserved. See YouTube’s live stream settings guide.
  6. Check monetization if Gyre creates the broadcast through the API. Gyre says YouTube’s third-party-tools default must be enabled for API-created broadcasts to start with monetization active. Check the channel’s current setting rather than assuming monetization will carry over: Gyre’s API update.

Make a controlled cutover

  1. Pick a change window. Allow time to verify the new stream, and tell viewers if a brief interruption is possible. The cited documentation does not guarantee zero downtime or preservation of the active watch page.
  2. Start the Gyre stream and inspect its status. Use Gyre’s current setup flow, then check both Gyre’s status and the YouTube preview or live status. Follow YouTube’s encoder setup guidance where relevant: Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.
  3. Verify the viewer-facing broadcast before ending Castr. Check that the intended video is playing and that the YouTube broadcast has the right title and privacy. Confirm which watch page viewers should use; do not assume the old page remains live.
  4. Stop the old Castr feed only after confirming the new one. This ordering reduces the chance of intentionally taking the channel offline before the replacement is ready, but it cannot guarantee uninterrupted playback during a cross-service switch.
  5. Check the outcome afterward. Verify the live feed, privacy, title, audience-facing page, and monetization state if applicable. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; that statement does not guarantee archive behavior for a 24/7 broadcast. Check the channel’s actual archive outcome. YouTube live stream guidance

What to verify before relying on the new setup

  • Content fit: Gyre’s documented workflow uses uploaded prerecorded videos and a playlist. Confirm it suits the channel if Castr currently relays a live camera or external feed.
  • Credentials: Make sure Gyre is authorized or configured with the intended YouTube key. Keep the key private, and update the sender if it is reset.
  • Broadcast identity: Check the actual title, privacy, event, and viewer-facing page after launch. Reusing settings is not proof that the same live broadcast continues.
  • Monetization: For API-created broadcasts, check the YouTube third-party-tools default described by Gyre.
  • Archive expectations: YouTube’s automatic archive statement applies to streams under 12 hours; confirm what happens to the channel’s continuous broadcast rather than assuming it will be archived in the same way.

Or let it run in the cloud

If your goal is to keep a prerecorded YouTube stream running without maintaining a source computer, StreamNeo is another cloud option to consider. Upload the recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; the uploaded video streams as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot, and StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card; monthly billing is $9.99 per month. Start your free day on StreamNeo.
