To manage site exceptions in Vivaldi on iPhone or iPad, open Menu > Settings > Ad and Tracker Blocker > Exceptions > Manage blocking level per site. From there, add a domain, choose how much to block, or update or remove an existing exception. You can also change the blocking level for the site open in your tab using the Content Blocker shield beside the address bar. These are Vivaldi’s documented iOS instructions; labels may change with app updates. Vivaldi’s iOS blocker guide

Add a site exception

  1. Open Vivaldi’s menu and tap Settings. The menu is the documented route into iOS settings; see Vivaldi’s iOS settings overview.
  2. Tap Ad and Tracker Blocker > Exceptions > Manage blocking level per site.
  3. Tap Add New Domain.
  4. Enter the website link, then select the blocking level you want for that site.
  5. Tap Add New Domain again to save.

The saved entry gives that site its own blocking level rather than relying only on the global default. Vivaldi’s iOS blocker guide documents this route.

Choose the right blocking level

Level What it does When to choose it
No Blocking Turns off tracker and ad blocking for that site. Use when blocking appears to interfere with the site and you want to test it with blocking disabled.
Block Trackers Blocks trackers without selecting the additional ad-blocking level. Use when you want tracker blocking on the site without also enabling ad blocking.
Block Trackers and Ads Enables both tracker and ad blocking for that site. Use when you want both categories blocked there.

Vivaldi says tracker blocking uses lists of known tracker URLs and that its ad blocker can catch additional ads beyond those blocked by the tracker blocker. That is the vendor’s description of its features, not an independent test. The global default also offers these three levels; an exception changes the setting for one site. Vivaldi recommends broad tracker blocking and suggests considering the effect of enabling ad blocking by default because ads support many websites.

Change or remove an existing exception

  1. Return to Settings > Ad and Tracker Blocker > Exceptions > Manage blocking level per site.
  2. Tap the site you want to change.
  3. To change its level, choose No Blocking, Block Trackers, or Block Trackers and Ads, then tap Update.
  4. To delete the exception, tap the site and choose Remove.

If you no longer need a special override, Vivaldi also describes changing the site’s level back to the default setting rather than keeping a separate exception.

Adjust the open site from the address bar

For a quick change without navigating through Settings, open the site in the active tab, tap the Content Blocker shield on the left side of the address bar, and select one of the three blocking levels. Use the Exceptions screen when you want to add and manage saved per-site entries; use the shield for a direct adjustment while viewing the site. Vivaldi documents both methods in its iOS blocker guide.

Troubleshoot a site that still does not work

Some site functions may rely on elements that Vivaldi blocks. If a page is broken or behaves unexpectedly, open it and use the Content Blocker control to turn off blocking for that site, then test again. Reload the page after changing the setting; if the change does not take effect, restart the app. Vivaldi notes that a reload or app restart may be needed in its iOS troubleshooting guide.
