To limit what a child can play on Paramount+, turn on Parental Controls from the account page in a desktop or mobile web browser, set a four-digit PIN, and lock the ratings you want restricted. Separately, enable Kids or Child Mode on the child’s profile to show a child-oriented experience. If you also want to prevent a child from switching to an adult profile, keep the PIN controls active.
How Paramount+ profiles and parental controls differ
These settings do different jobs, so using a Kids profile alone may not be enough when you want a playback restriction.

| Control | What it does | Scope | Does it prevent profile switching? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Parental Controls | Locks playback of content above selected ratings; a PIN is required to play locked content, even if the title remains visible. | Rating locks apply across supported devices sharing the account. | With parental controls active, a child in child mode cannot leave that profile without entering the PIN, according to Paramount+ Help Center. |
| Kids/Child Mode | Changes a profile to a curated, child-oriented experience, with age-group and content-rating customization. | Enabled separately on each child profile. | By itself, it does not reliably prevent a child from leaving the profile; parental controls need to be active for PIN protection. |
Paramount+ describes parental controls as a playback gate and Kids Mode as a profile experience. Use them together when you want both a child-focused profile and a PIN barrier. Paramount+ Help Center explains that content above a locked rating can remain visible but cannot be played without the PIN.
Turn on rating-based parental controls
- In a desktop or mobile web browser, go to paramountplus.com/account and sign in.
- Find Parental Controls. The feature is off by default; turn it on and confirm your Paramount+ password if prompted.
- Create a four-digit PIN.
- Use the control or lock icon next to each rating to choose what to restrict. In the interface described by Paramount+ Help Center, blue means locked and grey means unlocked.
After setup, a locked-rated title may still appear in the profile, but playback requires the PIN. Paramount+ says the rating locks apply on supported devices that share the account; the control must be turned on or off through desktop or mobile web. As the Help Center puts it: “While parental controls are supported across devices and platforms, you’ll need to be on your desktop or mobile web in order to turn this feature on and off.”

Set up a child profile and enable Kids Mode
- Create or edit a separate profile for the child in the Paramount+ profile settings.
- Enable Kids or Child Mode for that profile. Paramount+ describes options to tailor the child profile by age group and content rating.
- Keep Parental Controls active if you want a PIN required before the child can leave the child profile.
Kids Mode does not substitute for rating locks. Paramount+ warns that when parental controls are inactive, a child may leave a child profile without a PIN and reach content that is not suitable for their age.
Where the settings work—and regional caveats
Paramount+ Help Center lists Android, Apple TV, Android TV, Comcast/Xfinity, web, Fire TV, Hisense, iOS, LG, PlayStation 4 and 5, Roku, Samsung TV, Vizio, and Xbox among supported devices for parental controls. This is the list in that Help Center article, not a guarantee that every model or region currently supports the feature. Check the live account interface if your device or menu labels differ.

For the UK and Ireland, and for Australia, the Help Center notes one account PIN for the parental lock and says it can ensure Kids Profiles cannot be exited without PIN authorization. Regional behavior and labels may differ, so confirm the setting in your own account.
