Gemini Apps Activity, Android permissions, and Connected Apps settings control different things. To review or delete saved Gemini activity, use the Gemini Apps Activity screen; to change device access such as microphone or location, change the Google app’s Android permissions; and to stop Gemini from using a connected service, disconnect it in Connected Apps.
Manage or delete Gemini Apps Activity
For a personal Google Account, open the Gemini Apps Activity controls while signed in. Google’s instructions are in Manage & delete your activity in Gemini Apps.
- Gemini mobile app: Open the profile menu and choose Gemini Apps Activity.
- Gemini on the web: Open Menu > Settings & help > Activity, or open the Gemini area in Google My Activity.
- Review the listed activity, delete selected items or activity within the available controls, or change Keep Activity.
Google describes the setting this way: “When you’re signed in and Keep Activity is on, Google stores your Gemini Apps activity in your Google Account.” Menu wording can change as the interface is updated.
Choose how long Gemini activity is kept
In Gemini Apps Activity, use the retention control near the top of the page. Select an available period and complete the confirmation flow. Google lists 3 months, 18 months, 36 months, and Don’t auto-delete; the web default is automatic deletion of activity older than 18 months. What changes when you turn Keep Activity off?
Future chats won’t appear in Gemini Apps Activity and, according to Google, won’t be used to train its AI models unless you send feedback. This is not the same as preventing all processing or deleting every stored copy. Google says future chats are retained for 72 hours so Gemini can respond, process feedback, and protect Google, users, and the public. Google also says some chats already reviewed by service providers may be retained for up to three years after activity is deleted. See the Gemini Apps Privacy Hub and Privacy Notice.
Some Connected Apps become unavailable when Keep Activity is off. The exceptions depend on platform: on Android, Device assistance, Phone, Messages, and WhatsApp remain available; Connected Apps are unavailable in Gemini on the web, iOS, and watches. Change Gemini’s Android device permissions
When Gemini is acting as the Android device assistant, it is hosted by the Google app. Change device access through Android’s app permissions, not Gemini Apps Activity:
- Long-press the Google app icon.
- Tap App Info, then Permissions.
- Select a permission, such as microphone, camera, contacts, or location, and choose Allow or Don’t allow.
These permissions govern access to device features. Gemini Apps Activity governs account activity retention and related improvement settings, so changing one does not automatically change the other. Google explains assistant permissions and location handling in its Privacy Notice.
Location has additional limits
Google says precise location processed with device or browser permission is not stored in Gemini Apps Activity; stored location is coarsened to a general area larger than 3 square kilometers and including at least 1,000 users. A location may still appear in a chat if it is part of a prompt or response, and Gemini may receive precise location from another Google service in some contexts. The Privacy Notice states it was last updated June 29, 2026. Turning off one permission or account setting should not be treated as removing every location record across Google services.
Manage Connected Apps and data shared with them
Use Gemini’s Connected Apps settings to connect or disconnect services. Depending on availability, connected services can support tasks involving email summaries, calendar events, media, calls and messages, or smart-home controls. Access varies by account, location, language, device, and app.

Disconnecting an app stops Gemini from accessing it through that connection, but it does not delete prior Gemini Apps Activity. Likewise, deleting content in the source app does not necessarily remove the related Gemini chat, and another app may retain information it received from Gemini under its own policies. To address information Gemini may draw from a connected source, Google advises deleting the relevant chat or chats and disconnecting the source app. Changes to source data may take days to affect Gemini’s experience. If you use Gemini through a work or school Google Account, the personal-account steps may not apply. Workspace administrators control Gemini Apps Activity settings, and users may not be able to change retention or see how long chats are kept. Connected Apps also require an eligible Workspace edition and administrator enablement. Check with your organization’s administrator if the controls are unavailable.
