To sell your own merch on YouTube, choose what to sell and how it will be produced, open a store with a platform YouTube supports, check your channel’s YouTube Shopping eligibility, then connect the store in YouTube Studio and submit products for review. Once approved, select where eligible products appear and tag them in eligible content. Your store or merch provider—not Google—handles the operational work such as orders, fulfillment, customer service, refunds, and creator payment.
1. Choose what to sell and how to make it
Start with products that fit your channel and audience, then decide whether a provider will make and fulfill them or whether you will source, produce, store, and ship them yourself. YouTube does not prescribe a particular product, garment, printing method, or merch provider.
- Provider-managed production: A commerce or merch platform may handle production and fulfillment under its own terms. Check its current product options, costs, shipping regions, delivery estimates, returns, and customer-service arrangements.
- Self-managed production: You arrange sourcing, printing, inventory, packing, shipping, and customer support. If you intend to print shirts yourself, for example, you may need blank shirts; creators using a provider that supplies finished goods generally do not.
Before choosing a route, compare product range and customization, production and platform costs, transaction costs, shipping destinations and delivery times, returns, YouTube integration, and who handles customer issues. The details depend on the provider and its current terms, so verify them directly rather than assuming one service or product is universally best.
2. Set up a store YouTube can connect
YouTube Shopping lets eligible creators connect an official store to sell their own products. Shopify is one documented option; YouTube’s setup instructions describe connecting it through Shopify’s Google & YouTube app.

- Set up the store and add the products you intend to sell.
- For Shopify, install the Google & YouTube app and connect the Google account that has admin access to your YouTube channel.
- Select your YouTube channel in the app, review the program rules, and complete the setup.
For the Shopify-specific connection details, follow YouTube’s official Shopify setup instructions. Other supported platforms may use a different connection flow.
3. Check eligibility for selling your own products
YouTube Shopping for your own products has its own eligibility requirements. YouTube lists participation in the YouTube Partner Program (YPP), meeting the applicable YPP subscriber threshold or having Official Artist Channel status, restrictions related to Made for Kids content, and no Hate Speech Community Guidelines strikes. The Shopping tab appears only for eligible channels.

- YouTuber Mental Health Merch design.
- Lightweight, Classic fit, Double-needle sleeve and bottom hem
Requirements and supported features can change, and eligibility depends on channel status and country. Check your current status in YouTube Studio and consult YouTube’s current Shopping eligibility guidance before planning a launch.
Own merch is not the affiliate program
Selling your own products through a connected store is different from tagging products from other brands for affiliate commissions. The programs have separate eligibility rules and geographic availability. Check the current YouTube Shopping affiliate eligibility requirements if you mean affiliate products rather than your own merch.

4. Connect the store and submit products for review
- In YouTube Studio, open Earn > Shopping.
- Select Get Started or Connect new store, then follow the prompts to connect the store and submit its product feed.
- If using Shopify, complete the connection through the Google & YouTube app flow described above.
- Wait for products to be reviewed against YouTube and Google Merchant Center policies. For the documented Shopify setup, YouTube says review typically takes a few business days.
Review is not a guarantee that every item will be approved. Individual products can be disapproved; the retailer or store administrator can submit an appeal. Check the store’s product data and applicable policies if a listing is rejected.
5. Choose where approved products appear
Depending on channel eligibility, product approval, content status, viewer location, and device, products may appear in your channel store, video descriptions, product shelves, or product tags in videos, Shorts, and live streams. Use the available Shopping controls in YouTube Studio to select products and tag them where the feature is offered.

Product visibility is not universal. Shopping features may not appear for Made for Kids content, content with a copyright claim, content that is ineligible for monetization, or viewers in an ineligible region. Check the relevant content and viewer conditions when a product is missing from a particular surface.
6. Confirm fulfillment before promoting the launch
The connected retailer or platform—not Google—handles the operational side of the sale. YouTube identifies responsibilities including warehousing and fulfillment, inventory management, customer service, refunds, and creator payment. The merchant’s configured countries of sale determine where it ships.

Can YouTube merch make money?
YouTube cites a 2021 U.S. survey in which 89% of viewers agreed that creators give recommendations they can trust. The study, Google/Talk Shoppe’s Shopping at the Speed of Culture, surveyed 2,000 U.S. adults aged 18–64 who use video and was fielded in August 2021. That historical finding concerns trust in recommendations; it does not measure merch purchase intent, sales, or conversion, and it should not be treated as a sales forecast. See YouTube’s guidance on selling your own products for its attribution and context.
Keep a merch launch live without leaving a computer on
If you use a YouTube live stream to promote a launch or replay pre-recorded channel videos, StreamNeo is a cloud option: upload a video or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It keeps the stream running from the cloud, so your computer and home connection do not have to stay on. StreamNeo plays uploaded videos and streams to YouTube; it is not a camera-broadcast tool.
Or let it run in the cloud
StreamNeo provides one always-on YouTube stream per slot, with 24/7 looping and playlists, automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream, and uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot. Your first day is free with no card required. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. See StreamNeo for details, or start your free day.
