To make a YouTube playlist private, open its visibility setting and choose निजी (Private). On desktop, you can do this in YouTube Studio or from the playlist page; on Android, edit the playlist in the YouTube app or YouTube Studio app. The steps below follow YouTube’s Hindi-language instructions and explain what Private means compared with Unlisted.
Make a playlist private on desktop in YouTube Studio
- Sign in to YouTube Studio.
- In the left menu, select Content, then Playlists.
- Find the playlist and open Details.
- Under Visibility (किसको दिखे), select Private (निजी).
- Select Save.
Change privacy from the YouTube website
- Sign in to YouTube and open You, then Playlists.
- Under the playlist, select View full playlist.
- Below the playlist title, open the privacy dropdown and choose Private.
Make a playlist private on Android
In the YouTube app
- Open the playlist in the YouTube app.
- Tap Edit, then change its privacy setting to Private (निजी).
- Save the change.
In the YouTube Studio app
- Go to Content, then Playlists.
- Open the options for the playlist and tap Edit.
- Change its privacy setting to Private and save.
Private vs. Unlisted vs. Public

Choose Private if you want the playlist visible only to you. Choose Unlisted if you want people with a link to view it, but do not want it surfaced through YouTube discovery. A Private setting does not prevent YouTube’s systems or human reviewers from reviewing the playlist for ad suitability, copyright, or abuse-prevention purposes.

If you cannot find the privacy setting
- Make sure you own the playlist; you may not be able to change the visibility of someone else’s playlist.
- YouTube says the feature may not be available for supervised accounts. If the control is missing, check whether the account is supervised.
